New Year's brings images of crowds, and songs, and fireworks; staying up til midnight and watching balls or bells being rung. But Luceti is a different time and place. Whether you're partying with friends or watching the sunrise, what are you doing today?

[Hey, Kazooie can get behind this. Liking birds? Makes sense to her!]

Well, birds are the most awesome things ever! You'd have to be pretty dumb not to like 'em.

[ He nods, trying to contain his enthusiasm. Someone (or, somebirdie) that understands...! ] I've been around birds all my life. They're truly magnificent.

[She kind of has to understand, being an awesome bird who is the best at everything ever and also a hero.]

Hey, you call it like it is! I can appreciate that.

[She might be unconsciously preening a bit. And strutting.]

And I just happen to be one of the most magnificent. Y'know, being a hero and all.

You're a hero? [ You may have just become the coolest bird in Falkner's mind, Kazooie. Feel proud. ] What did you do?

[She clearly is the coolest bird in everybody's mind, Falkner.]

More like what didn't I do? And that is... nothing! 'Cause I've done everything from rescue little sisters from big ol' mean witches and their stupid dumb lairs, to kicking the butts of bad guys from here to Cloud Cuckooland!

... and, okay, grabbing stuff for people.

But the best part was getting to go on all those awesome adventures!

That's quite impressive! I am quite amazed. That's a lot for anyone to do.

What kind of adventures did you go on?

Man, I could talk about 'em all day. [And she really will if Falkner lets her.]

Let's see... I've had three awesome games, and all of them kick butt! Banjo-Kazooie is the first one - that's where I got to rescue Tooty from Grunty. Man, Grunty was dumb! So many worlds, and not one of 'em was awesome enough to stop me.

[ -- wait why is she referring to her adventures as games. He can just... let that slide... ]

Grunty was... the antagonist?

[Best to just go along with it, usually...]

If that's a fancy word for "bad guy", then yep. She just pretty much got in our way and made stupid rhymes!

Sounds like a bad guy to me. [ Heh. ] Do I want to ask about the rhymes?

[Kazooie shrugs - a very unbirdlike gesture, but let's just roll with it.] It's kind of her "thing". She does it to be cool or something, but it just ends up really lame...

... Stopped it for awhile when her sisters told her to, though.

So it was like a speech quirk for her. [ Makes sense! ... sort of. ] Did you defeat her by yourself?

Mostly!

...

Okay, so I had Banjo and the Jinjos to help me...

[... But she still did most of the work!]

I'm the real reason we made it, though!

[ By herself or not, that's still impressive. ] I assume that Banjo and the Jinjos are your friends from back home?

Yep! My sidekicks, pretty much. Banjo 'n' I did just about everything together.

[Her expression falls, minutely. Just enough to notice something's wrong.]

... He hasn't shown up here yet. He should get his fat lazy butt into Luceti already!

[ Hmm... he smiles reassuringly. ] I'm sure he'll arrive someday. It might just take some time.

I hope so! It's just not a game without my sidekick...

[Her gaze wistfully slides out across the celebration at this.]

... When he gets here I'm gonna go on an adventure with him.

Where were you planning on going? Did you have any ideas yet?

Maybe the mountains. They look pretty cool, like Mumbo's Mountain or Hailfire Peaks!

... Though I hope they don't have lava. That stuff was too hot for me.

[That should go without saying for most people.]

I don't think they have lava? I can't say for certain because I've never been up there myself.

Huh. Well, if I ever go up, I'll letcha know for sure!

[Assuming she can even find Falkner...]
