Summary: It's New Year's, and the people of Luceti have a lot to reflect upon, and to look forward to. And on a more meta level, new journal names.

New Year's brings images of crowds, and songs, and fireworks; staying up til midnight and watching balls or bells being rung. But Luceti is a different time and place. Whether you're partying with friends or watching the sunrise, what are you doing today?

I suppose you're right! Less crowded and certainly a better view than if back home. I-I've never been to the one in Sydney either.

[ Helios ponders for a moment. ] I've only seen small portions of it on the, um, television. [ Which he had no hand in. ]

[shadedsunlight]

It's a beautiful display. Lights up the sky and seems to go on forever. A sight to see. And lots of boozing and revelry too.

[folklorist]

[ Helios chuckles. Boozing indeed. ] Never was particularly fond of, well, booze as you put it. I guess times of celebration do call for it though, don't they?

[shadedsunlight]

Perhaps. Pairing intoxicating substances and explosives together for a celebration does seem to be quite the common thing. Keeps it all fun.

[folklorist]

Ah y-yes that's true. I'm not sure how those both became so common, really. But um lets hope nothing happens with said explosives aside from a very good show, hm?

[shadedsunlight]

Two things fun apart, so why not put them together? [She shrugs.] I agree. Thank you again for helping out.

[folklorist]

Oh it's no trouble at all Ginia! I actually quite like doing all of this! The reward is seeing everyone enjoying themselves after all.

Then well rewarded you are tonight. [Her smile softens.] Here's to a good year.

Do you have any resolutions? I-I know some people are rather strict when it comes to following them...

[ As for him? He might have one or two. ]

Resolutions... [Ginia hums softly, head tilting up.] Honestly, I haven't put too much thought into it. Shame on me, I know. But... I think enjoying life and laughing a little more is a good starting place. [Maybe moving on from things and beginning to heal a little more.]

How about you?

[folklorist]

I like the way you think. [ Helios gives her a wide smile. ] What better way to start off the new year than simply...enjoying it and the people you're around to enjoy it with?

[ Helios pauses though for a moment to think. ] I-I'm not sure, really. I-I know there are things I...I can certainly improve on. But, well, I haven't exactly given it much thought either. [ A laugh. ] Shame on both of us.

[shadedsunlight]

No better way, I say. And shame on us indeed. [She laughs lightly.] I've never been much of a resolution person, though I always have a long-standing goal of learning at least five new recipes or skills a year.

[folklorist]

Five new recipes or skills a year... [ Helios thinks on that for a moment before smiling. ] That's actually a wonderful idea. It certainly opens you up to newer better things at least! You'll experience so much more too.

[shadedsunlight]

Maybe this will be a good year to learn some English and Romanisn cuisine.

[folklorist]

I certainly won't say no to that! I could help you with some of the recipes if you'd like. [ Helios is just sporting the derpiest of smiles right now. Delicious Romanian cuisine how nice it will be to have someone else be able to cook you with him! ]

We should offer up cooking classes. I've always wondered why they haven't been given. With so many wonderful chefs around and all!

I certainly won't turn down your help. [The more to cook with the merrier! And with matching aprons and all.]</small. I know there are cooking lessons at Seventh Heaven every Sunday and I teach Link how to cook Monday mornings, but you're right, it's surprising there aren't more classes around. I certainly wouldn't mind teaching more people.

Ah there are? I should really attend some at some point. I didn't even realize! There's just a whole eclectic bunch of foods here that could be touched upon. I wouldn't mind bringing back some recipes from other worlds back to earth.

[ Granted some ingredients would need to substituted, naturally, but it would be fun to learn here and try them out all the same. ]

Oh, yes. Amazing all the things that go on around here, it's nice how people are willing to pass their skills on. I wouldn't mind bringing some recipes from other worlds back too. There's so much I'd want to take back if I were ever sent home. Knowledge, of course.

[folklorist]

Knowledge definitely should always be shared among others. It's one thing I find quite refreshing about this place. No one seems to mind telling each other about their worlds or the mechanics of them.

We need an encyclopedia around here. The collective knowledge of Luceti and all. Wouldn't that be a fascinating reading?

[folklorist]

It would be amazingly so. An entire book with all the worlds compiled into it? And in very stunning detail? I believe that would be a rather big undertaking but very doable. If we all chipped in for at least small portions of it, it would get made very effortlessly.

The world sharing class would be a good starting place. What do you think? A project for the new year?

[folklorist]

It's a thought. One I wouldn't mind getting behind at all. The world building class will certainly help with it. I've also had the thought of doing a cultural festival at some point. Maybe in the spring...something like Tanabata with stalls lined up with games and food from different worlds.

I think that would be wonderful! I definitely approve of that idea.

[folklorist]

I'll have to ask around but I think it might be a huge hit! [ He's smiling at the thought of it. It's been an idea that's been in his mind for awhile ever since him and Regal spoke about it to one another. ]

I was also thinking of having a snow sculpture competition. The winners would get entire hot spring to themselves. N-not that people don't have that option already but...I'm not sure what prizes one could give really when you can get whatever you want easily enough.
