New Year's brings images of crowds, and songs, and fireworks; staying up til midnight and watching balls or bells being rung. But Luceti is a different time and place. Whether you're partying with friends or watching the sunrise, what are you doing today?

Oh...Grune! [Sorry, she's a bit busy admiring how that dress looks on you.] Ah, um, I think I'm okay here, thanks. [Just wiping tables down is all!] If you want to help, you should find Miss Ginia and ask what needs to be done. [Frown.] But that's such a nice dress...you might accidentally ruin it.

Oh, that's all right. I can always get a new one. And it wouldn't be very nice if I didn't help.

[Grune...actually does have a point about the dress. With regards to the second point, well, no one that Pao-lin knows would think badly of Grune if she didn't help tonight. There were quite a few volunteers already at Seventh Heaven.]

Well, okay, then! You can stay with me and be my helper for tonight. [Because otherwise Grune is going to forget what she's doing here. Pao-lin hands Grune the towel she was using to wipe the table.] Here -- just finish washing this table up, and I'll go get another towel so we can dry it after you're done.

[She takes it and starts polishing!] All right--I'll do my best!

[Pao-lin heads over in the direction of the kitchen to go get a towel, but she's accosted along the way with a couple of food orders. So, um, getting back to Grune might take a bit longer than she anticipated. Will Grune be all right on her own?]

[Grune actually managed to finish most of the table, but, well. At this point, she's wandering about aimlessly, the cloth still in her hand. She's going to need a little steering back to her job.]

[Pao-Lin runs into the wandering Grune just as she's returning from bringing back some dirty dishes.]

Oh, Grune! Sorry I kept you waiting, there were some other people who needed help. Did you finish washing that table?

[She gives Pao-lin a confused look.] Washing that table?

Yeah, the table that...oh, never mind. I'm sure you've finished it. You're a hard worker, after all. [When you remember that you're working.] Come on, there's probably a few more that need to be wiped down so that others can eat at them.

All right!

[She toddles along obediently behind Pao-lin, just like a duckling. If ducklings looked like statuesque green-haired women, anyway.]

[And off they go! The establishment is quite busy tonight, so most of the tables are actually full at the moment. But there's a table being vacated near the back, so Pao-Lin will lead Grune over there. She begins to gather up the dishes, stacking them as best as she can.]

[And Grune entirely forgets her assigned job and starts helping her with the dishes instead. orz]

[She glances up as Grune begins picking up dirty utensils.]

Oh, just leave that to me, okay? I'll bring them to the kitchen and then you can wipe the table.

[lostinmyway]

Oh, all right. [And she...sets them them down again.]

[Pao-Lin gathers up the spoons and forks and knives and piles them on top of her stack of dirty dishes.]

Okay, Grune, I'm going to take these to the kitchen! [She giggles.] I expect that table to be spotless when I get back!

[Grune giggles right along with her, and even manages a very relaxed salute.]
