Summary: It's New Year's, and the people of Luceti have a lot to reflect upon, and to look forward to. And on a more meta level, new journal names.

New Year's brings images of crowds, and songs, and fireworks; staying up til midnight and watching balls or bells being rung. But Luceti is a different time and place. Whether you're partying with friends or watching the sunrise, what are you doing today?

The best couch I've ever met!

[She giggles happily, lightly nudging the Spartan's cheek with her own. After getting comfortable, she sighs contently, looking up into the sky.]

It's so pretty tonight... humans come up with the neatest things.

[Daisy laughs, hugging her. There's something so comforting about her height simply being a part of herself rather than something she used to be ashamed of.

Her cheek remains locked onto Keimi's, a wide smile she cannot take off, her long hair draping over the mermaid. Even as a sense of caution is lightened with the fireworks, and her heart beats faster, she is well. It's a strange feeling of closeness.

Of course, Keimi is a mermaid. Daisy strangely notes from the words she hears. Even as the Spartan was well-aware that over half her friends were not human, it's something she had just stopped thinking about after a while. With so many looking like humans and nonetheless willing to help her, and many of them being from mythology, it just turned into a useless label.

It's strange. But it's part of how much she had grown in this place.]

Sometimes it's the simple things that are neater.

[Or the ones not invented by humans at all. Being so close to someone you can feel their heartbeat, or even their voice when they whisper to you.

She inclines her head sideways with Keimi, drawing a big breath.]

It's the simple things that make life fun~.

[She smiles softly, warmly. Daisy's long hair tickles her face, but it's a comforting feeling. This was a closeness that she wasn't used to, but laying there in the Spartan's arms, she just felt safe.

She turns her head, her gaze meeting Daisy's blue eyes.]

[Daisy doesn't take her eyes off Keimi when she looks at her, letting out a soft giggle with a reddened expression the longer time passes.

It's a different kind of warmth. She can't quite explain it. But she's felt it before. In a movement Daisy cannot explain her reasons for, her forehead touches Keimi's.

Her heart beats faster.]

[The mermaid's face reddened to match Daisy's. Unlike the more experienced Spartan, Keimi had never felt these feelings before. Not like this. The whole situation felt so strange to her. Daisy is a human. Should she even be feeling this?

Her eyes are locked on Daisy's gaze. She can't bring herself to look away. In this moment in time, there is nothing more beautiful. The world is silent, save for the occasional booming of the fireworks above them. Keimi's lower lip quivers; her heart is nearly beating out of her chest.]

[For a Spartan, romance alone had always seemed something impossible. Strangely, the thought of falling for a non-human doesn't feel as far-fetched to her.

Granted, many non-humans here were of human appearance, and Keimi is a creature of romanticist mythology where Daisy is from. Guess it was the reason she grew to accept them quickly. And in some cases, like them.

Daisy does not look away. Even the fireworks sound like something without matter. She can feel Keimi's heartbeat.

She is silent for a long moment.]

Can I kiss you?

[Those words nearly catch Keimi off-guard. She feels light-headed, and her heart is pounding so loudly in her head that she can nearly drown out the booming fireworks. Still... she nods her head, slowly, her eyes never leaving Daisy's.]

Uh...huh.

[She takes a long sigh - and there's another feeling she recognizes. The air smells like perfume.

The mermaid's heart is beating almost as fast as hers is. The taller girl wraps her arms over Keimi's back, careful not to touch her wings. It is done so to calm her... or to shift her a little forward, as she feels Keimi's breathing.

Daisy smiles once again, before she kisses Keimi.]

[Keimi instantly returns the kiss, her body instinctively curling into Daisy's warmth. All the doubt and fear she had just a moment ago was washed away the moment the Spartan's lips touched hers. She couldn't believe it. Her first kiss-- and with a human, no less. Still, in Daisy's warm embrace, she knew she made the right decision. The mermaid's kisses are shy, and awkward. She isn't sure what to do, or how to return the gentle kisses. Still, the only thing on her mind is making Daisy happy. For such a powerful warrior, Daisy's lips are incredibly soft...]

[The taller girl is just as shy, but she has a little experience with kissinf, as small as it is. Without an objective to focus herself with and feeling this way towards Keimi now, she is as nervious.

But Daisy has not regretted any kiss she had ever made.

Keimi is going to be the third person Daisy has kissed in her lifetime. Her first two were the product of shifts, but even then... they all tasted like this. It's warm. Lips are always so soft, and so warm.

She likes kisses. She never imagined she would like them so much.

Daisy's arms rise a little to press Keimi to her while leaning back.]

[Feeling the shifting weight, Keimi starts leaning in towards Daisy. Her arms daintily wrap around the back of the Spartan's neck, keeping them together.

She never wants to let go.]

[Her left hand goes over Keimi, forearm caressing one of her wings. Even now, the taller girl is aware, and careful with them as she reaches out to caress the mermaid's hair.

Her heart hammers her chest as she feel Keimi's chest over hers, in a lock Daisy dares not to break. Her right arm stays on her back, and lowers a little.]

[Keimi squeaks softly when her wings are touched. She doesn't have to remind anyone of how sensitive they are. But when the shock of the touch is over, all that is left is the gentle ebb of pleasure from Daisy's touch. She has never felt so vulnerable, or so safe.]

[It's a strange feeling, being now with Keimi like this... caressing eachother. Daisy keeps her eyes closed, in a strange sense of union she had only felt with other Spartans, and Valvalis, before her.

A hand lowers a little to lift Keimi towards the bigger girl, and moves a little forward. Her white wings spread a little.

After a while, Daisy's lips disconnect from Keimi's... and form a wide smile, unable to contain a giggle.

It's a strange feeling, to feel so vulnerable and so safe. And yet she's happy.]

[As the kiss breaks, Keimi giggles lightly, curling into the Spartan's warmth. Her cheeks have never been so red, nor her smile so wide. She was confused, and a little scared of these new feelings, but being there, in Daisy's arms, makes her happier than she thought possible. She nestles herself in the crook of Daisy's neck, cooing warmly.]

...I'm not cold anymore, Daisy-chin.

[That actually gets a laugh from Daisy.]

Neither am I. [Well, she was wrong that time... There were even more ways to make it warmer. She leans her head on Keimi's side, closing her eyes once again in a smile.

She is cute. Daisy felt comfortable forsaking her military demeanor around her.]

I'm glad I get to spend New Years' with you, Keimi.

[Another new year of Earth. Nine days until she made a full year in this place. Somehow... It feels longer, and shorter at the same time. And not in a bad way.

She breaks from the hug, and looks up... seeing a strange plant.]

...Me too.

[She smiles, nuzzling her lightly and closing her eyes again. She almost begins to doze off, until Daisy picks up her head. She squirms a little, groggily opening one eye.]

S-something wrong...?

[Daisy keeps looking up for an instant. It's a mistletoe. She remembered seeing them throughout Luceti. There is the briefest of flashes in the back of her mind, of her mom kissing her dad near it...

...And then it's gone.]

... Nothing.

[She leans her head back to Keimi's side, settling her arms back into a more comfortable hold for the two of them.

Daisy breathes happily.]

Happy New Year.

[Keimi nods, smiling softly before slowly squirming into a comfortable position.]

You too... [Yawn.] Daisy-chin.

[She closes her eyes again. There is nowhere in the world she would rather be, but safe in the warmth of Daisy's arms.]
