New Year's brings images of crowds, and songs, and fireworks; staying up til midnight and watching balls or bells being rung. But Luceti is a different time and place. Whether you're partying with friends or watching the sunrise, what are you doing today?

[Out by the smithy, Sokka is letting off some floating lanterns. He had made some prototypes for that Flynn guy, but after he vanished, they were just taking up space. So now seemed as good as any time to let them off in the sky, what with all the celebrations. After watching them float off in the sky, he can start to appreciate why that guy wanted to use them to impress his girlfriend so much. Neat.

After running out of those and midnight has passed, he'll pop his head into Good Spirits or Seventh Heaven (at different times!) to see what's going on there. And you know, see if he can't procure a post-midnight snack.]

Well, I think it's really nifty, the whole...floating lighty thingies. [ he gestures vaguely skyward, enchanted and curious. ] S-so is this like a traditional thing?

Tradition? Nah. Now just seemed like as good as any time to get rid of them. [Nothing is special or sacred with Sokka, alas.]

Oh. [ darn, and Glitch was all set to embrace this fun new cultural thingy. he quickly recovers from his disappointment, though. ] Well, you picked a nice time for it! Everybody seems to be in a good mood, and and this can only brighten it.

[Sokka can appreciate a pun as much as the next guy. Assuming the next guy is a clown or something. So he smirks at the little joke there.]

A drunk mermaid.

Keimi is sitting near the back of Seventh Heaven, having stopped on her way from seeing one person or another, and is in the middle pouring herself a bowl of sake. Then, she catches a familiar face out of the corner of her eye and grins wide, her cheeks red and her eyes a bit glassy. Her free hand instantly shoots up in an enthusiastic wave.]

S-Sokka! [Hic.] Sokka-chiiin~!

[... oh. That's lovely. This is why they should keep the alcohol out of the restaurants! He forces a smile and walks on over.]

... hey, Keimi. Happy new years.

[Alcohol should be kept out of reach of mermaids at all times. She grins wide, dropping the bottle onto the table before giving him a quick, tight hug.]

[She laughs, reaching for a clean bowl to pour for Sokka.]

[Yeah, he'll be eager to get out of that hug. But upon seeing her filling that bowl, he's gonna... put a stop to that.]
