Out with the old....

Who: Everyone
What: New Year's.
When: Dec. 31st, New Year's Eve, to Jan 1st, New Year's Day.
Where: Everywhere
Summary: It's New Year's, and the people of Luceti have a lot to reflect upon, and to look forward to. And on a more meta level, new journal names.
Rating: We'll see...

New Year's brings images of crowds, and songs, and fireworks; staying up til midnight and watching balls or bells being rung. But Luceti is a different time and place. Whether you're partying with friends or watching the sunrise, what are you doing today?

Is this kind of celebration usual on your world?
folklorist: (Peaceful: You wanted to talk?)

Oh yes! Every year at the same time and on the same day! It's quite popular for many cultures since it's rather...open towards anyone. Secular and hardly religious at all. Different countries do different things for it.

I really like most of the holidays Luceti celebrates. We have some celebrations in the winter, but it's not quite like this.
folklorist: (Ever so curious)

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-01-09 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Most of them are from Earth actually. I wouldn't mind seeing a different world's holidays however. I'm sure there's plenty of them to be seen, not to mention it would be interesting seeing just how different or similar they are to my own world. N-Not that Earth's aren't wonderful to celebrate. I just think what with having such an eclectic bunch we could always do more in terms of holidays.

[ Plus that would mean more parties! All the parties! ]

The ones here feel more unique, I think... Though, the Malnosso getting into the celebration doesn't always help that.
folklorist: (I suppose that works)

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-01-12 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
No, it doesn't. Though they're surprisingly lax when it comes to Christmas and this whole season in general. Not-not that, that's a bad thing not at all. Rather grateful for it, really.

[ A pause. ] It makes you wonder if they're too busy off celebrating their own holidays.
inabook: (oh you)

[personal profile] inabook 2012-01-12 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
It's also possible their holidays are at the expense of us.
folklorist: (Ever so curious)

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-01-13 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes that's...very true unfortunately. I-I suppose it depends on what exactly it is they celebrate. But it seems like they have some concept and knowledge of Earth's holidays, which is very intriguing really.

[ He's not sure why it's just Earth but...still it makes him shudder a little. Malnossoian holidays what could those possibly be. They probably weren't as bad as some people would think but it's definitely food for thought. ]

To be honest, my perception is that the Malnosso are likely just as varied as we are. There could even be members from our same worlds... as unnerving an idea that may be. And, there are many more people living beyond the barrier than the Malnosso.
folklorist: (Rather a good listener)

Hm a collective of people you mean? Working towards fending off the third party...

Yes that makes sense and who knows about the other villages like this one. I-I just wish they would be more open with us, you know? [ A small sigh. ] But they have been getting slightly better at least on that front. The missions are...amazingly more tame and civilized than, that being taken by the droids. To be honest I'm more curious about the third party and their take on things.

[ Helios likes to see two sides to every argument. He knows the third party is an enemy but he's not sure...what would they have to say if you talked to them? ]

((ooc; Oh yeah on Estelle's latest post do you mind if I sign Helios up for Library volunteering? I've been meaning to do it I'm just a lazy bum lately.))

I agree. I'm sure they have reasons, but I can't see how they are good enough to justify keeping us ignorant. We could accomplish so much more if we worked together.
folklorist: (Downcast)

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-01-17 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Especially after all this time... [ He pauses, thinking. ] It's quite a shame when you think about it. [ But after all this time...is it even possible to rectify the obvious and rather apparent fissure between them and the Malnosso? ]
inabook: (Sweet)

[personal profile] inabook 2012-01-17 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. [......]

But this is a rather gloomy topic for a party, isn't it? How have you been otherwise, Helios? I still haven't thanked you properly for assisting the library.
folklorist: (Yes I do agree with that)

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-01-19 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes you're right. My apologies! [ An apologetic smile. Definitely not the best conversation for this, no. ]

It's nothing to thank me for. I'm more than willing to help out when it comes to the library of all places. [ He practically lives there as it is. ] I was going to ask, but it completely slipped my mind with the holidays, but if you need any more helpers there I'd be glad to offer up my assistance.
inabook: (hearts)

[personal profile] inabook 2012-01-19 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
We'd be glad to have you! There's always need for more hands, since the Malnosso aren't regular with their schedules.... [whether it be kidnappings or just dropping off books at random intervals, though that tends to fit in with the New Feather cycle mostly.]
folklorist: (Do go on I'm listening)

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-01-21 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd be more than willing to lend a helping hand! Especially for the library. I'm rather impressed by how well it's already cataloged and setup. It's quite the big undertaking really. Given the sporadic nature of Luceti and the things within it.
inabook: (Princess)

[personal profile] inabook 2012-01-22 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank you. It's a been long process... though I confess the cataloging system wasn't entirely my idea. The first head librarian was Mr. Aziraphale, and Miss Patchouli and myself ran things together for a long time...
folklorist: (Rather a good listener)

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-01-22 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I can only imagine. Keeping up with such things is just as difficult as getting it started. Luceti's...sporadic nature doesn't help things either.

But I'd be more than happy to help whenever you would require it. [ A smile. ] The library is almost like a second home to me when I think about it.
inabook: (smiles)

[personal profile] inabook 2012-01-23 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Please stop by anytime, then, and we can work out scheduling. It's volunteering so it's fairly lax but I try to coordinate to make sure there's always someone on hand.
folklorist: (I'm just your average headmaster yep)

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-01-25 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Whatever help or assistance I can provide...I'd be more than willing to do so. I'll stop during the week then and we can make the appropriate arrangements. But, for now, I think a little celebrating is in order. [ And with that said Helios will conjure up two spectacular light phoenixes and watch them as they fly through the air. ]
