[He doesn't answer right away, instead he looks at her, almost worried for a second before he smiles comfortably and nods.]

I know, sorry I said that. This is the best possible scenario for me as well. No one has ever made me feel the way you do just by being here.

[ The closest she ever came to something like that was Amakusa, after all, and that was still more in an 'I actually care more for you than I show' kind of way than something actually romantic. ]

I had a crush, a deep and strong one, I used to think it really was love... But even before you arrived I had come to realize that it wasn't really love. I care for her a lot, I will always do, and out of all my friends she will always be the one that can read me better and who knows the right words to tell me at any moment. I admire her a lot and want her to be happy... But I didn't really care about doing it myself. And the times she left, though I was sad and I took one specially badly because of how it happened, I always knew I could live on and continue with my life.

... If you left I don't think I could stand it. It may be the only thing together with Minato leaving that would make me want to leave this place immediately.

[He replies honestly, sounding a bit apologetic when talking about the crush part. He tightens his hold on her hand a bit, though.]
