... I apologize, I didn't introduce myself. [ He automatically straightens up a little. ] I'm Falkner, the Violet City gym leader. I specialize in flying Pokemon.

Oh hey, intros!! ] No worries, Falkner! I'm Brendan, the Hoenn region's Champ! I... don't really have a specialty!

Well, I guess you could say we're 'tropical'! Hoenn's a lot warmer than Johto for starters, and it's surrounded by water!

I see... [ That would mean it's a completely different environment! ] And what about the Pokemon? [ Or, more specifically, the birds. ]

[catches]

Well... you've got a lot of Water-types, obviously! I think we have like... five species of Fire-types that are native to the region, too! [ Who cares about birds that aren't his Swellow waifu? ]

[ Nodnod. ] That would make sense... Can you tell me anything about the Flying-types?

[catches]

Oh, that's probably more interesting to you, right? [ since it's his specialty or whatever. ]

Wellll, we've got a pretty varied lot of them... One of the Pokémon that came here with me's a Flying-type; you wanna see her?

[ Aaaaaaaaand getting Beldum out of the way, out comes everyone's favourite blue swallow-secretary bird hybrid!! ]

[ aaaah hello lovely bird! Noctowl will hop off his shoulder to get a closer look and to say hello. ] What's its name?

[ contain your boners please! ] She's a Swellow! I'm not the nicknaming kinda guy, so that usually works.

[ but... but our bird boner...! ] I understand. I'm not the type to use nicknames, either.

[ There's a hint of a smile on his face as he looks at Swellow. ] She looks to be quite strong. You've trained her well.

[ sometimes the birds don't want your boners, bro... ] Heh, thanks man! [ a Flying-type expert is complimenting him here. hell yeah, he's champion of the world!! ]

She's one of the first Pokémon I caught, so you could say we've had plenty of time to train together!

It really shows. Flying types are extremely reliable and are a good addition to any trainer's team. [ ... NOT THAT HE'S BIASED OR ANYTHING ]

kyaa... ] Yeah... To be honest, I used to be all about attack for a while until [his dad thrashed his ass. and then he taught Swellow Toxic which was awesome until he learnt what Facade did.] I wisened up a little.

He nods a little. ] Makes sense. There's more to a battle than just outright attacking, after all. [ He hasn't quite perfected the balance between offense and strategy himself, but. ]
