A very Auldrant dinner party

Who: Auldrant natives (minus one Van) + a few invited guests.
What: End-of-year dinner
When: Dec. 31, evening
Where: House 1
Summary: Nephry invited her planetmates over for a meal to celebrate the end of their typical calendar year. Yes, even Asch and Dist. Then she told Natalia she could help cook.
Rating: No higher than PG13 I expect?

Nephry had gone back and forth for days before proposing this idea. A good handful of her acquaintances and friends from Auldrant did not get along. Period. But it would have felt...wrong, not to include them.

Things seemed to be going all right so far. Nothing was on fire, most of the cooking was done and the table ready. (The table in the middle of the living room, all the other furniture pushed aside.) If all went well, it would be an enjoyable meal for everyone. ...If.

[Tear had done her best to help Nephry prepare for tonight, since she wanted this event to go as smoothly as possible. That in itself could be... a lot to ask for, considering the things that could go on among some of those invited was less than pleasant. However, they had all agreed to this, and it would be nice to have everyone together again.

Should anyone arrive at this time, they'll find Tear in the living room, setting down the last of the preparations and making sure everything is in place. Nephry had mentioned that additional food dishes would be brought by...]

[And many people volunteered to bring them. Gelda mentioned a curry dish, Ginji was fretting over what nobles would like...

Nephry is in the kitchen, cleaning up to whatever extent she can. It hides how strangely nervous she is.]

[When Luke arrives and sets his coat aside, he looks around and immediately finds Tear getting the rest of the preparations done. It's nice to see her, and he can't help smiling as he raises his hand up to greet her.]

Tear! [And now he starts to head over.] Is there anything I can do to help out?

[Though some miracle or other (perhaps the promise of being finally allowed to leave the stupid clinic) Asch has made an appearance, though his still-healing body and broken bones hasn't let him do much more than arrive and crash on the closest surface that isn't the floor, AKA one of the living room couches. He won't exactly be the life of the party, but he'll at least be polite to whoever might want to bother him.

Therefore: bother him!]

Once Luke gets his food, he sits on the floor beside Asch, two plates in hand. They both have the same thing - rice with some chicken and gravy mixed in.]

Asch? Hey, I got some food for you.

[Asch is always welcome to be a couch potato in house one. Luke does it often enough.

Since his fellow redhead offered to take charge in the foo department, all Nephry is going to do is ask what it is he would like to drink, when he arrives, and then bring him a glass of it.

No fuss and no big scenes. Which is pretty much the extent of all she knows about Asch the Bloody.]

[Now now, why would Gelda want to bother him? She only wants a polite chat. They don't talk enough, in her opinion. Heck, she didn't even know Asch was in such a poor state. While she has a suspicion that it may be because of the draft, she knows better than to make assumptions.]

Are you all right, Asch?

Asch! [Guess who's bouncing up to you.] I wasn't really expecting you to show up!

[Well! Ion's certainly in a good mood tonight, after seeing everyone show up. They didn't have many reasons to bring everyone together like this, but clearly it's something they should do more often! He'll be about, making small talk, and just generally looking really happy to be there. After all, this is a year Ion is more than happy to finally see come to an end, all things considered.]

[Much later in the evening, after things start winding down and the time has likely already passed into the start of the new year, Ion finds a nice spot near the fire to sit by and relax for awhile. It might seem like he's spacing out, though not for any particular reason other than being a little tired.

[Also, he'll totally be wearing the scarf that Luke got him for Christmas the whole time. No, he doesn't care how tacky it is, it's awesome, okay?]

[It's very late. Nephry didn't have a chance to visit the larger party, but it doesn't seem to have mattered much to her. Now that things are calmer, and she's done a good deal of the post-party tidying up, she'll sit down nearby with a mug of cocoa and a distant look of her own.]

[So it's about time they have some adorable fluff, right? Anise approaches holding a plate of cookies, with a wide smile on her face. It's getting easier and easier to talk to Ion again, to pretend that nothing had happened.]

[Ginji, at least, is happy to be included. It's been a long year - or as close to a year as it's going to get - and it's nice to be able to meet up with friends and acquaintances and just enjoy the evening.]

[He quickly gave up on the notion of bringing dishes that even nobles would eat (because really he has no idea), and instead settled for what was reasonably easy to prepare. He's no master chef, but he made sure everything tasted all right. So there's a salad Tamara once taught him to make, corn pudding, and peppermint bark for something sweet.]

[After finding places for the additional food, Ginji waves a friendly 'hello' to the others gathered and finds himself a comfortable seat.]

[Of course he's included. Why wouldn't he be? He's survived so many crash landings in his life.

Hello, Ginji. I'm glad you're here. Is there anything I can get you?

[Dist had helped set the table properly beforehand and, now, as the dinner guests came piling in, wandered more and more out of sight. Or, at the least, tried to. He stayed far away from the so-called royalty, knowing any glance from a single one of them would gather ire on both sides. Instead, he chose to keep more towards the ones he knew very personally - Nephry and the Professor. Oh, and the Fon Master, of course...though it was difficult, given how he's friends with the other riffraff.

At the very least, Dist doesn't make a scene, and acts polite, when necessary. He's been to enough parties and balls for the Order during various meeting and celebrations to know how to behave. He is a man of class and refinement - as his self proclaimed title dictates.]

[She will catch him at some point when they are both in the kitchen, or out of the way.]

[Dist is definitely one unique individual, and when Ginji finally catches a glimpse of "the Rose", he recognizes him almost immediately. This was the man he accidentally crashed into earlier in the week...]

[Awww, don't worry Dist, Ion isn't going to just forget about you just because everyone else is here. He knows well enough that Dist probably wouldn't be very interested in making small talk with some of the others, just as he expected the others probably wouldn't be keen on approaching him either... WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?]

[So, sometime later in the evening, Ion will be excusing himself from the others to go chill with his idk my bff Disto talk with Dist for awhile.]

[Noelle isn't able to provide much in the way of food, though she might try to do what she can to help with the preparation. It seems like even most of that's been taken care of though, and in the end.

In addition, she has brought a pot of some nice tea that she recognized as the kind that some of the mechanics her grandfather's worked with liked. It's well-insulated, at least enough to last the journey to House 1.

Other than that, the tea's there for anyone to take who may so desire it, and Noelle herself is wandering a little amongst the others, happy to make small talk with anyone interested. It's a little different, getting to know everyone here on... well, something quite different from the professional level she's used to. It's taking some adjustment, but she likes it.]

[One of the first things Nephry does when Noelle arrives with tea is to try it. Why not? Besides, it's good.

Sometime shortly before any sitting down and eating is done, she'll approach the younger pilot.]

[Let's get to know some more people! Quite a few people from Auldrant have arrived in Luceti recently, but Gelda's hardly met all of them. When she spots Noelle, she'll approach the girl with a smile.]

[Having also helped Nephry, the Princess can be seen around, well, everywhere, smiling, chatting. Trying to do her part. Other times, she's quietly watching, seeming to enjoy this. Friends she's lost, friends out of touch..she likes it. ]

[With supervision? She really wasn't so terrible in the kitchen. Nephry gave her a few of the simpler tasks, and intuition has told her not to tell anyone which dishes Natalia had a hand in. Just to see.

But when it's time to bring out dessert she'll want the princess's help again.]

Asch will be spending most of the evening on the couch where it's more comfortable for someone with the number of broken bones he has, and there are very few people he'd actually consider seeking out. Natalia, however, is one of them, so if she doesn't find him first, he'll drag himself out of the living room and find her, his own condition be damned. Mostly because ignoring her just isn't really an option for him, but also... because it's nice to see someone who isn't just always around for the replica.

Even if things have been a little... weird.]

[While Luke isn't much of a cook, he'll still try to help with everything else. As much as he can, at least. Sitting to the side and wondering when everything will be done is something he'd do if he had long hair, and he wants to get past that.

So, instead, he'll go to people and ask if there's anything he can do. If there is something, he will do it, and even spend quite some time making sure that it's correct. Once he's finished, he'll find people to talk to, to catch up or ask how they're doing, or anything else. If you are here, expect him to go to you.
