A very Auldrant dinner party

What: End-of-year dinner

Summary: Nephry invited her planetmates over for a meal to celebrate the end of their typical calendar year. Yes, even Asch and Dist. Then she told Natalia she could help cook.
Rating: No higher than PG13 I expect?

Nephry had gone back and forth for days before proposing this idea. A good handful of her acquaintances and friends from Auldrant did not get along. Period. But it would have felt...wrong, not to include them.

Things seemed to be going all right so far. Nothing was on fire, most of the cooking was done and the table ready. (The table in the middle of the living room, all the other furniture pushed aside.) If all went well, it would be an enjoyable meal for everyone. ...If.

[If he was looking to have her also feel like a sap, he succeeded; there is now a faint blush on her face after she hears him say that, which only serves to drive in the small bubble of guilt for not having gotten him something in return.]

L-Like I said, it's fine! [He doesn't really want to say that just seeing her wear it and saying she likes it is enough of a gift for him.] Really, don't worry about it. [He even smiles!]

If you insist. [She's glad to see him smiling, just vaguely remembering the situation back in Auldrant and how few opportunities there are to relax and simply have a quiet moment of life with the way things were. Luke wasn't there yet with her or the others, but...

It didn't matter right now, and it would be Luke's decision alone if he wanted to know what would happen.] Are you enjoying yourself, I hope?

Yeah... I just wish there was something for me to do around here. [... And he brings his hand to the back of his hair once he realizes how that sounds.] I-It's not that I'm bored! I mean... I wish I could help somehow.

Everyone has been so insistent on helping and doing their part that there's hardly enough left for anyone to do. [Don't worry Luke, she's not insulted in the slightest, though she does smile apologetically for being unable to grant him that request.]

Heh heh... I feel kind of pathetic like this. [He rubs at the back of his head and looks around at everyone else. It is kind of awkward to stand here with nothing to do while everyone works... And to think, back in the day he wouldn't have minded this, and probably would've preferred it.] Maybe I can go out and get some cookies or something. Can't have enough of those!

Have they all been finished up already? [Not that she objects, given how everything in the village is free and those cookies there would only go to waste if no one took them from the bakery by the end of the day.]

If you really want to you can go get more, it might take too long to make another batch now.

[His eyes lit up at that, and Luke's already going to grab his coat. Sure, not all the cookies were gone yet, but what's another batch?]
