What: New Feather welcome party!

Summary: IT'S A SUMMER PARTY
Rating: Worksafe, I reckon!
It's cold out there today, isn't it? Sure, it's not snowing but once you get into the Battle Dome, it'll be comfortably warmer. Warmer, not warm. Follow the tiny paper arrows and you'll probably find yourself in, well...summer!

It certainly looks convincing enough (a pool, a volleyball court, deck chairs, everything that you'd think you'd find at a pool party) and feels convincing enough (take off that coat! Aren't you hot?) so why not not step in? The barbecue's sizzling and there's some nice cold drinks at the cooler.

C'mon in, the water's awesome!

"Ah, but his descriptive and verbose nature is part of what makes his work entrancing, no?" Adele looks over to the chairs Ginia suggests and nods, starting to weave her way to them.

"It is also something familiar, I do not know why but reading this eases what little homesickness I've left... My father used to read me passages as I did my exercises with my sisters."

"At times, yes. Other times it seems he enjoys the sound of his words too much." She offers a small smile and a shrug. "But then again, I am the one who tries to read Ayn Rand. My minor complaints aside, I enjoy his work."

"There is always comfort in familiar things. Savor them."

"Do not most men have this problem, or is it just the men that I have known?" Adele laughs and settles in one of the chairs, plate balanced across her knees. She waits for Ginia to sit as well before taking a bite of her burger, smiling at the delicious meal. "Mm. Ginia, these. These are fantastic."

"...There is space enough in the training room, yes? Perhaps if I can find a pair of pointe shoes and some practice attire I will resume my morning exercises."

"I think it's a people thing. Who doesn't like hearing their ideas?" Ginia sits down and also bites into the hamburger. Nothing like delicious backyard barbecue goodness on a cold winter day. "Glad you like them."

Ginia thinks about Adele's words before nodding. "Yes, there's plenty of space. I'm sure we could have a barre built."

"Those that know well enough said ideas may not be the best ones." Adele contents herself with more of the burger, sighing at the warm splash of flavor in the middle of January. "These are better than anything I could find in a cafe or from a vendor in Lyon."

She clears her mouth with a sip of caned tea and quirks a brow at Ginia. "Truly? I would..I would appreciate that greatly Ginia. More than you know."

"You cannot deny a hamburger is one thing Americans know how to do correctly," Ginia teases before she takes another bite of her own. Sweet, delicious grilled goodness.

"I'll look into it then. It wouldn't be too hard - if we can build boats, we can build a barre. I'll ask Giles for help."

"Something this simple? I would be surprised if Americans could ruin it." Adele chuckles and enjoys her burger for a bite or two more, considering. "Mm. Would he? There is no real need for mirrors, just the barre. To be able to stretch at a proper barre would be wonderful."

It had been years. She blinks at something she didn't quite catch. "Giles built a boat?"

"The Maia Alcyon Volturnus." She chuckles quietly over the name. A mouthful, but very elegant. "A combined effort of Giles, Helios, and Ami. He's promised to take me sailing someday. Sounds romantic, no?"

"Sailing with Giles?" Adele chuckles and shakes her head. "I am certain you will find it terribly endearing and Romantic. Though what you do with this, I would thank you not to elaborate on while I am eating.."

Ginia laughs lightly. "I promise to spare you all the details of the little trip. That day will be our own little secret." Who knows when it'll happen, but the idea fills her with happy and loving joy. He's quite the romantic man when it strikes him.

"Did you know when I first arrived, the New Feather party was also tropical themed?"

"Your own private, little secret. Helios may be oblivious to yours and Giles' amorous intentions but I do thank you for your continued discretion. And forewarning." Adele flicks a curl out of her eyes and takes another bite of her burger. Once her mouth is clear again she chuckles.

"Truly? It was six months ago so...in the fall, yes?"

"Oh, believe me, Helios is aware. He can be careless at times and forget to knock in his excitement over something or another, but he knows we're together. He was the first to know, fitting, really. But you're welcome and we will continue to be discreet. I must thank you for pulling Helios out of the house. Deeply appreciated. Shall I continue to pay you in chocolate?"

"July, the fifth to be precise." Ginia smiles and thinks back on that month. "There was a Tanabata festival right after I arrived, put on by the SOS Brigade. Beautiful little festival."

"I have no doubt he is aware, I simply think he does not think to leave so you two might not have to worry? And I do not mind pulling him from the house at all. I am learning a great many things about his method of magic, and Filial magic over our cups of tea. Well. His cup of tea, my cup of coffee." The impromptu outings, at first an excuse, had become something Adele actually looks forward to now.

"Tanabata festival? What is it that a Tanabata festival celebrates? The ending of the summer?"

"Did you know Helios was the first one to teach me about using Filial magic. Giles gave me a demonstration, but Helios got me started on the path."

Ginia takes another bite of her hamburger before she answers, setting the plate aside and wiping her hands off on a napkin once she's finished. "It's a Japanese festival. Two deities in love, separated by the Milky Way, can only meet on this special day. It's a holiday for lovers, friends, and well-wishers alike."

"He seems the instructive sort. He speaks of it with the same manner as a teacher, yes? I am not surprised he saw fit to instruct you." Though actually learning it for herself would be something Adele was, still is, and always shall be wary of doing.

Ah, a love festival. Or relationship festival? It was unlike anything Adele had heard of. Once her mouth is no longer full of burger she offers "A celebration of relationships, be they platonic or romantic. It must have been lovely."

"He's a headmaster back in his own world and he helps out at the school here. He's a wonderful teacher and you can tell." She's full of pride for her dear friend, but it's hard not to me. Ginia always thought Helios was the idea teacher, kind, passionate about what he taught, willing to help his students in whatever way.

"It was. All sorts of delicious food, fireworks, just a nice friendly event. I was lucky to arrive right before it."

"I suppose if I am to ask anyone for instruction in Filial magic, I should ask him." Even if she was still uncomfortable with the idea of 'communing with spirits' in order to learn or use their magic. The whole system feels odd to her but Helios might make it more tolerable.

"This may not have fireworks, but there is delicious food and a very cordial event. I must say that it is an excellent way to welcome all of us New Feathers."

"It's one of the traditions around here. Every cycle has its own themed party. Besides from a tropical party in July and a Thanksgiving feast in November, September was both a New Feather party and a celebration party. The village got together and put on A Midsummer Night's Dream." Ginia beams at the show, remembering how nicely it'd all come together. It'd been a magical night indeed. "That was a lot of fun."

"Shakespeare? That must have been quite entertaining. Who was in charge of the production, and filled each part?" Adele can't help but wonder if Giles, Ginia, or Helios took part in the production. Though the idea of Helios on stage and performing in any capacity makes her laugh. The man couldn't hold a conversation without stuttering, how would he ever be able to perform Shakespeare?

"Frederic was. We made it a bit of a musical actually, added in some orchestration and all. Plenty of people helped out, it was quite spectacular." It was Giles, Ginia, and Helios, of course they helped out. Giles and Ginia performing in the orchestra and building the set, Helios providing special effects during the performance, it was all a wonderful village effort.

"A Midsummer Night's...musical?" For a moment Adele stares at Ginia, utterly dumbfounded by this concept. A ballet of it, she'd seen. The play, a book, one or two film adaptations, but a musical? The very idea makes her shoulders tremble and eyes well up with tears for laughing. It's high and bright and the years just melt off of her like this, the echo of the woman she'd been shining through.

Yes, they made it a musical of sorts. Laugh as you will, but it'd been a beautiful production, very elegant and true to form. With Frederic writing the music, it had to have been wonderful. Still, Ginia can't help but chuckle along because she knows how absurd it must sound.

"Yes, that's correct, and it was amazing, so there."

"...such a mature way to end your argument Ginia." Adele's still snickering, unable to attempt any semblance of a glare at all.

"I'm lounging on a beach chair by a pool and I'm enjoying a delicious hamburger. I can't bother with maturity right now."
