Summary: No one wants to miss the SOCIAL EVENT OF THE SEASON. Also an Angel piñata & Jack Sparrow is the guest of honor. GO CRAZY!

[Spike paced, waiting for the first arrivals. It was barely sundown as he pulled the curtains away from the windows and set various foodstuffs on the counter for general consumption, though the onions are mysteriously disappearing before the party begins. Magic.

The Ramones are playing softly in the background on a stolen boombox, the wine Buffy brought set up next to the whiskey he himself nicked. One would think it'd be impossible to have an anxiety attack without a beating heart...

For once, Spike has ditched his typical black on black for charcoal slacks and a light blue sweater, though the ever-present motorcycle boots haven't gone anywhere. He's ready to make a complete fool of himself, drink in hand as he answers the door.]

Gambit shoots him an amused look.]

That your hangover talkin', or did you have somethin' more romantic in mind? 'Cause I'm not sure I wanna be hearin' your fantasies if it's the second one.

[Gambit glances back at Lupin again out of the corner of his eye, expression carefully masked. That... actually makes him feel a little bad.]

...I didn't hear anythin'. All I heard is "it's the hangover talkin'." C'mon, homme, almos' to the stairs.

[Lupin was grateful for Gambit's discretion in covering his lapse in judgement. He'd need to buy the cajun man drinks later, or find something big for them to explode.]

[If anybody can appreciate the value of keeping some things under wraps, it's Gambit. He's a man with a small library of secrets, after all. Someone in the same line of work and older? He'll respect the inevitable secrets.]

Good, good. Sooner you're there, the sooner our belle doctor'll be satisfied. [Beat. He stops and looks back at Lupin again, expression actually serious for a change.] An' if she tries gettin' me to stay wit' the both of you, it ain't happenin'. You can tell her for me.

[No guile there,just honest gratitude. Lupin picks up the pace, getting his mind back in gear as his steps even by conscious effort. There was no need to show weakness, no need to worry people further.

[He's definitely not feeling the popular thing after the rollercoaster of encounters today, but it's easier to play along than bring up the mission (or upsetting someone earlier because of it). Grin stays in place, dismissive wave.]
