What: Star Wars Movie Marathon
When: February 21st to whenever its done
Where: Luke and Ben's place
Summary: Luke and Ben have decided to just end the constant cycle of confusion and actually WATCH the Star Wars movies. There is soda (gasp!) popcorn, canned tea, and all sorts of other movie related nonsense.
Rating: PG, same as the movies (Could get PG13? doubtful)

... I believe they are called... "popped corn"... or, er, p-popcorn for short...

... S-Simply put, they are... superheated k-kernels of corn that have... expanded. Very light, and... l-low in calorie content... they are, er, g-generally flavoured somehow, with salt or other additives.

Hmmm... [He cautiously picks up one of them. "Light", he says... and low in "calorie content", whatever that is. He looks back at Robert; are you sure it's alright to try this?]

[Robert gives a reassuring nod, and then, to further drive home the point, takes a handful of the popcorn himself.

Om, nom.]

[The first thought that comes to his mind is actually, "Oh, so that's how you eat them." Well, he seems to be enjoying them... if he's right, and it is safe... alright, Robert, he'll try.

He hesitantly takes some of the popcorn from the bowl... hm, they're much lighter than he expected. The texture is so strange... well... here it goes...

Nom. Mm, is he tasting butter? Hey, that's pretty nice... a little crunchy, but still light and flakey. He can taste the salt, too, but he's very much liking that butter right now.

He approves. Robert's getting a "Mmm" to confirm this.]

[Success. Robert smiles almost affectionately.]

Popcorn is... one of those f-foods that is very easy to prepare...

... All it n-needs is heat, and... a little patience.

[Munch munch. Good popcorn. Gulp.]

Yes. Superheating a... c-corn kernel causes water trapped within the kernel to... e-evaporate and expand - this is what... bursts the kernel open and causes it to... r-resemble this shape.

Hmm... [He tries to imagine the process in his head. For once Robert's science - while still not really Beast's forte - is basic enough for him to at least get an idea of what it looks like. For small white flakes, they certainly are strange.]

You mean they're... th-they're like corn? O-other corn?

Yes. They are... the s-same thing, just simply heated a different way...

... C-Corn kernels are one of the few foods that... b-behave in such a manner, though superheating other v-vegetables is possible. It would just... not produce something l-like this.

This is why popcorn is... r-relatively low in calories, though - much of this is a-air.

Hmmm... [He says as he examines another piece of corn to confirm Robert's statement. He's right - there truly isn't much to it. The only thing he notices other than the flakes is the remains of the corn parts... kernel, right? Right.

Now munch again.]

[For a few moments, they eat in silence, reflecting on the inscrutable qualities of popcorn. (How did they even get to this point?)

Finally, Robert looks up and smiles a little.]

... There are... many ways to p-prepare food. I should... show you s-sometime...

[He looks up in question from his popcorn-eating.] There is? [He... never really knew of any other way aside from what he did for tea and sandwiches.]

Of c-course. Even with... the technology h-here, there are several... r-readily-accessible ways. Ovens and stovetops, toasters, m-microwaves...

... [He's not sure if Beast knows the latter ones.]
