Summary: The weather takes a turn for the worse as freezing rain comes down across the village. Don't slip and fall!
Rating: F for freezing

Rain begins falling early morning on the 22nd. By 9 AM, there's a good layer of ice as it continues to rain on and off throughout the next two days, sometimes drizzling, sometimes coming down hard for a few minutes. By the evening of the 23rd, it stops raining. Ice buildup is between one and two inches (2.54 cm to 5.08 cm), enough to put some strain on trees, break some branches, and even knock out electricity in some areas despite the lack of any visible powerlines.

((Have at it! Also if you want to use this thread for any post-storm clean up - melting ice, clearing away fallen branches, patching things up - go for it!))

Oh please, Chien's already done his hurt-Caius routine today. Scampering up trees was harder in the jungle due to the lack of low branches, but here it's too easy. And fun.] Faster or not, you'd be sorry if you hurt any of the animals living here. I'd make sure of that. [Breaking off branches as he talks - the heaviest ones and whatnot. Doesn't look too safe though.]

[Hopping out of the tree now, since he's shown Caius how to do it he's expecting the other to do it too.]

If you see any animals hanging out on the heavy branches, make sure you get them off before you knock it down.

[Fine fine, clambering up into the tree to take care of the branches there. Gently shooing a squirrel off onto another branch before seeing to it.]

I wouldn't knock a branch down with an animal on it. They probably know to move if the branch is going to come down though.

I have brothers, remember? We all shared that responsibility. [Duh. But since they're not here, he has to make due with who he's seen prowling around the forest. Giant wolves are certainly protectors.]

And how would you like someone taking down the branch you're on without warning?

But sharing with a brother and sharing with a stranger are different. [Whatever, he's not even that bothered about what sort of forest protector-type people Chien gets to work with.]

I wouldn't be on a branch in the first place. [He says whilst hanging on to the trunk of a tree and breaking off branches.]

[He is honestly debating on whether or not to kick the tree and see if the beastboy falls.





No point in delaying the helping of animals though, so Chien puts it off for another day and instead climbs another tree to help out for the animal's sake.]

The animals back home could take care of themselves too, but they couldn't talk to humans or get them to stay away. So the humans took over their jungle and ruined them. That's why I was the protector there.

Somehow I don't think there's anyone here who wants to take over the forests so the animals would probably be fine without you.

Because I caught you at it! You would've kept doing it if I hadn't said something! How much help did you think you were being kicking trees and letting branches fall down!? [This is less of fighting and an actual, angry question. Get your fuzzy act together beastboy.]

A lot of help actually, seeing as I've seen people end up being clobbered over the head by branches falling out of trees because of the ice. Better to bring them down early than wait for someone to get hurt. [Even if it was... Him who was clobbered by a branch. But yes, angry question, angry discussion, totally fine.]

And kicking the trees is supposed to help them avoid falling onto people? [Seriously dude. That's not helping.]

Well yeah! As long as I watch out and make sure no one else is around then kicking the trees is fine. The branches fall down, I avoid getting hit and no one gets hurt. [Like all his plans this one is equally wonderful and awful. He's trying to think of other people's safety and it's the thought that counts.]

There's not a guarantee that a branch won't fall and hit you! Or that there's not someone-- sleeping in the tree or something like that! Animals too, which is why my way is better.

I'm careful enough, if any branch comes my way I'll just avoid it or break it before it hits me! And who sleeps outside in the trees in this weather? I could understand it if you were camping but the ice right now is really dangerous like this.
