A Day In Another World

Who: Anyone in the event
What: For 21 hours, pairs of characters will get to visit one of their worlds
When: Sunday morning, from 1AM to 10PM (in Luceti time)
Where: Somewhere else!
Summary: It's described here. One person will play the host, another the visitor.
Rating: Keep it clean, kids! Move your icky business to appointments posts.

Quick run of things to keep in mind:

-The pair of characters will return to the host's canon point. The host will temporarily return to their physical state at whatever their canon point was.
-Anything they do will be undone after they return to Luceti.
-If they are going to be part of the Alternate Universe aspect of the event, they won't remember the visit until after they have returned to normal.

Disclaimer: Visiting canon worlds will mean having to NPC characters that may already exist in Luceti, but will have no memory or knowledge of it. Be respectful and in character and bear in mind that these do not reflect upon characters in game!

ALSO! Threading out the visit is 100% optional. You're entirely free and encouraged to discuss and handwave what goes on if you want. But if you would like to thread it out, you may do so here.

[Shinji doesn't really think much of it, though. He's just confused as he tries to understand what's going on.]

But... how? Aren't we supposed to just... forget about everything once we leave? I remember everything.

This is probably a different set of circumstances. If this is an experiment, then there wouldn't be much use to make us forget.

[...it'd probably sound really odd for anything watching the security feed now, wouldn't it? Either that, or really suspicious. Still, it's hard to imagine how someone wouldn't know of those details if they weren't at least passingly familiar with Luceti.

The smile that she quirks is fleeting.]

Especially if it's temporary.

[He didn't really think that was a good reason for them to remember everything, considering some of the other experiments he'd heard about, but...]

What... do you think happened, then?

[Assuming for a moment that they'd kept their word and this wasn't some elaborate hologram...]

They sent us back.

Sent us back? But this isn't... [At least, he doesn't think it is. ...wait a minute.] Is this your world?

[She doesn't answer that, but her shrug sends a (hopefully) clear message-- did he think that those people back there would've let her walk off with him otherwise? This is a military area, after all.]

You'll have to see the captain one way or another, but I think it's better to speak to him when you're not under arrest.

[Shinji has pretty mixed feelings about this, but if it's just temporary... Yes, if it's only temporary, he doesn't have to try to understand how he feels about it.]

Why? I don't think anyone would believe us if we told them the truth.

You'd be surprised at how much he's willing to listen to. And we [or rather, she] can't stay here forever.

[He didn't really like that idea. He'd really rather just... sit quietly somewhere until they can go back. As long as nothing bad happened to him, though, he didn't particularly care what happened.

Shinji responds quietly, resigned.]

[.......he is very calm for someone who clearly hasn't done any space travel and is about to get into very serious trouble, isn't he? It takes all kinds to make the world go round, sure, but most of the time people were— afraid.

She presses the button at her side to call the elevator down.]

I'm sorry, this probably isn't the best place for a visiting experience.

It's alright. I wasn't really planning to visit anywhere. [And really, it probably wasn't such a bad thing. It could have been worse, after all. At least they hadn't been sent back to his world. Even not knowing what awaited him that day, things never really did stay pleasant for him for long.] Besides, I've... never been on a spaceship before.

Well, it's always exciting the first time around.

[She'd offer something a little more substantial in terms of encouragement but giving false confidence would be unfair. Ronyx might listen to their case, and he might not. Even if she's about 99% certain, there's just no accounting for that last 1 percent.

Ding goes the elevator door. She'll wait for him to get in first.]

[He's not really sure what to think of this woman yet. She certainly wasn't cruel. She was just... doing her job. He was the one that wasn't supposed to be here. If he got into trouble, it was what he deserved, even if he had made no conscious effort to come here in the first place.

Shinji steps into the elevator once it becomes obvious that she's waiting for him to go first. He's silent for a moment after that, but eventually, he speaks up to ask a question.]

Are there any windows on this ship?

There are, but only in some of the rooms. Most of the time, windows are a liability.

[And no one wants to be out there in the quiet, dark vacuum of space. She steps into the elevator after him.]

They aren't the kind you can just open.

Do you think maybe... we can see one?

[The question is even more hesitant than the last, but the reason for it is probably obvious. He expects her to say no. It was just a little peek, but... well, she was doing her job, after all.]

There'll be one on the bridge. I'm sure you'll be able to look out of it all you want once we're there.

[Once they're, y'know, talking to the captain. Multitasking and all that. She eyes him a little critically— sure looks like he rolled out of bed, judging by the state of his clothing.]

You might want to tidy yourself up a bit first, though.

[That's kind of neat to hear. He wasn't looking forward to talking to the captain, but seeing outer space—that sounded pretty cool.

He blinks at Ilia's piece of advice, though.]

Tidy up...? [He looks down at his clothes, though it doesn't take long to realize what she means. It wasn't like he slept in anything particularly embarrassing (just shorts and a t-shirt), but he feels embarrassed anyway. His cheeks are a little red as he sighs.] I haven't even had a chance to sleep yet.

You can get all the sleep you want after this. [In one way or another.] I can't offer any clothes for you to change into, but it'd be better for your case if you looked a little... [well. ahem]

What do you want me to do...?

[He can't help but frown as he smooths out his shirt. He hadn't even been lying down long enough to have bedhead, seriously.]

You might want to tuck that in.

[Who tucks in the clothes they sleep in?! Shinji was usually pretty good about tucking in his shirts (school uniform and all), but even this felt kind of silly to him.

...not that he'll refuse to do it, of course. Not because it matters how the captain sees him (since, really, he isn't expecting anything good to come out of that meeting), but simply because he always does what he's told. Quietly and still a little embarrassed, he'll just go ahead and tuck in that shirt.]

Right.

[Ronyx probably won't mind but the rest of the crew might. This is just covering all bases.

Either way, it's not a moment too soon; once he's done tucking that shirt in, the doors will open to the bridge floor. Let's get a move on, shall we? The sooner this gets handled, the better.]

[When the doors open, he'll wait for her to signal that this is their stop before he steps off the elevator. Similarly, once they're off the elevator, he waits for her to "lead" the way somehow—whether it's with the hand on his shoulder again or walking beside him or whatever, he'll comply.]

[This time, she'll walk beside him and match his pace. When you're trying to show that you trust someone (or at least on an external level), walking behind him like some kind of prison guard wasn't going to do anyone any favours.

...which may have helped their favourable outcome. Somehow, Shinji's gotten permission to roam the non-restricted areas...as long as Ilia's tailing him, of course. Which makes sense, since she was the one who backed up his story.

"I want to talk to you later", or so the instructions had went. Not that Ronyx would have a chance if their story checked out to be true.

Siiiigh. Oh well, at least it worked out-- somehow. Though the idea of having to tail after Shinji didn't seem all too attractive when Ilia would rather do other things...like attempt to locate the Luceti enclosure via the Federation database, for example. She'll try not to let too much of that show.]

[Needless to say, that conversation had gone a lot better than Shinji expected it to. It was a relief, even if he figured it was impossible for things to turn out this way. (He could imagine Misato telling him that he was being too hard on himself, and then he'd quietly doubt what she said because that was impossible. ...it just made him miss her more.) Once it's over, though, and they're mostly by themselves again, Shinji looks over to Ilia curiously.]

So what do we do now? Just... sit and wait?
