A Day In Another World

Who: Anyone in the event
What: For 21 hours, pairs of characters will get to visit one of their worlds
When: Sunday morning, from 1AM to 10PM (in Luceti time)
Where: Somewhere else!
Summary: It's described here. One person will play the host, another the visitor.
Rating: Keep it clean, kids! Move your icky business to appointments posts.

Quick run of things to keep in mind:

-The pair of characters will return to the host's canon point. The host will temporarily return to their physical state at whatever their canon point was.
-Anything they do will be undone after they return to Luceti.
-If they are going to be part of the Alternate Universe aspect of the event, they won't remember the visit until after they have returned to normal.

Disclaimer: Visiting canon worlds will mean having to NPC characters that may already exist in Luceti, but will have no memory or knowledge of it. Be respectful and in character and bear in mind that these do not reflect upon characters in game!

ALSO! Threading out the visit is 100% optional. You're entirely free and encouraged to discuss and handwave what goes on if you want. But if you would like to thread it out, you may do so here.

[Link spares a glance at Rydia when she starts concentrating, but nods, drawing his new sword.]

[Needle-covered rats? No problem.]

[Those sword rats are hardly the words she's ever fought, but they are vicious. Any attack sent their way will result in an immediate barrage of needles. As they close in, Rydia does her best to ignore distractions and trusts in Link. The mist slowly begins to gather towards her, coalescing....]

[Yes, so Link is finding. It's a good thing those boots are thick (his leg... not so much, that's going to hurt later). Frowning at them (and longing for, say, the Megaton Hammer), he takes one out, starting on the next.]

[Finally. Rydia finishes her summoning and a pale dragon appears, towering over them. Opening its maw, the dragon unleashes a blast of radiant mist, sweeping over the remaining creatures and avoiding Link himself. The dragon knows friend from foe.]

[...Neat.] Is that a summon?

[After that attack, the dragon dissipates and the mist clears somewhat. It takes Rydia a moment to answer, forcing that lump in her throat again.]

Yes. That dragon was my mother's Eidolon, and now mine. She protects the area, and that's why it bears her name.

Oh... [Link isn't really sure what to say as he sheaths the sword again.] Well... tell her thanks for me.

[She nods, as tension leaves her. She was able to summon again. She's still a Summoner, at least at home.]

I will. Let's continue, shall we? This isn't a big cave by any stretch, but let's not attract more things to us.

Okay. I bet we can deal with anything else we find, though, right?

[mistlegacy]

Right. Nothing in this cave is a significant threat to us.

[And her words prove true as they continue. More sword rats exist, but between Rydia's summoning and Link's sword, they can be driven off or killed easily enough. Local goblins are likewise little threat, compared to them. For her part, Rydia refrains from whip or magic in favor of summoning her Eidolons (mostly Mist Dragon) every chance she gets. If it's only for a day, she's determined to make the most of it.

Upon reaching the exit, Rydia takes a moment to adjust to the sunlight and points ahead.]

Our path is pretty clear-cut; we just need to follow that pass and cross the bridge upon its end, then turn south. The chocobo forest will be right there.

[Not one to waste time, she starts them off. They're able to reach the bridge with no interference, and though she spots some goblins in the distance, they're far enough to be avoided. Good.

Upon reaching the edge of the clearing within the forest, she peers in and then grins at Link, beckoning him to go first. Yellow chocobos wander the area, grazing peacefully. A lone white chocobo wanders between them.]

[Link's eyes light up at the wandering chocobos, taking a curious step in to the clearing.] What do I do so I don't scare them? [he whispers to Rydia, not taking his eyes off the one nearest to him.]

[mistlegacy]

[Kwehs erupt as the chocobos take notice, some glancing his way, others moving further into the clearing. Rydia reaches into her travel pouch and takes out some fresh gysahl greens, whispering back.]

Just approach slowly, and offer these. That's how they know you'll want a ride. I'll do the same, after I catch up to the white chocobo....

[Link nods absently, reaching for the greens and holding them out. He's keeping his footsteps light and slow, the careful touch he used around the horses at Lon Lon Ranch - he doesn't want to startle them.]

[Eventually, one of them ventures close enough to reach out and snatch some of the greens in his hand.]

[Rydia pauses to watch Link's progress, smiling when the bird finally accepts his offering. He ought to have no trouble with it, now.

She then turns to focusing on her own needs for a moment, because that trip wore down on her reserves and she needs the magic boost. The moment she's able to pet the white chocobo, who nuzzles her in turn, the summoner is entirely refreshed. She turns to watch Link....]

[By the time Rydia is done with the white one, Link seems to have well and truly bonded with the chocobo, petting him and laughing a little as it gives him a gentle headbutt.]

[When he senses her watching him, he glances over with a smile.] Do I just... climb on?

[mistlegacy]

[Grinning, she nods.]

They're gentle enough that we don't need saddles or the like. My turn....

[She approaches another yellow, holding out her offering. After a moment, the chocobo slowly approaches and eats out of her hand. Reaching up, she pets it gently, letting it finish before attempting to hop onto its back.]

Ready when you are!

[Link nods, carefully climbing aboard and trying not to tug any feathers out.] Okay - ready!

[Once situated, she gently nudges the bird with her feet and it darts forward, out of the clearing. Once past the forest, Rydia halts the chocobo long enough to enjoy the view of Baron Castle, its spires rising in the distance. Glancing back, she grins and calls out.]

Race you!

Hey, you got a head start! [Laughing, Link charges after her.]

[He'd win for sure on Epona!]

[Rydia laughs and urges her chocobo onward. She's sure Link will catch up; experience may be on her side, but he's a skilled rider and she's sure he'll adjust to chocobo riding easily. As the majestic castle draws closer, airships can be seen flying overhead; the Red Wings, Baron's finest. There's also a sprawling town outside the walls of the castle, with soldiers going back and forth between the two, and ordinary citizens going about their day.

But for the moment, Rydia's only paying attention to the ride. The sun on her face and the wind in her hair is all she needs for the moment.]

[Link does indeed draw level, and stays there, enjoying the ride and the scent of fresh air. While a chocobo's two-legged stride feels very different to Epona's, his balance is good enough to compensate, and it's a rather pleasant substitution for now.]

Yeah, it is. Have you explored all around here?

[mistlegacy]

[She nods cheerfully.]

Yes, long ago. Though considering how long it's been to my mind, it all feels new and exciting again. I'll be happy to give you a tour.

[Leaning forward, she reaches over to pet her chocobo as they race along the ground.]

These ones aren't tame enough to stick with us; once we dismount, they'll flee back to the forest.

Well, we have a full day, right? [He pauses at a sudden thought.] Although I think we'll have to sleep some time. It still feels like really early in the morning.

[He nods at the explanation.] Okay. It's been fun riding them, though!

[mistlegacy]

It has! I've really missed this.

[And she grows thoughtful, mulling over the good points he made.]

If you want to catch up on sleep, I'm sure we'll be welcome at the castle. It's probably best to do so there instead of on the airship; the engine makes too much noise for that, usually. A nap won't hurt, and then we can get some breakfast?

That sounds like a good idea. [The adrenaline and energy of being in a new place is wearing off somewhat, and Link is just plain sleepy.] A few hours would be good.
