A Day In Another World

Who: Anyone in the event
What: For 21 hours, pairs of characters will get to visit one of their worlds
When: Sunday morning, from 1AM to 10PM (in Luceti time)
Where: Somewhere else!
Summary: It's described here. One person will play the host, another the visitor.
Rating: Keep it clean, kids! Move your icky business to appointments posts.

Quick run of things to keep in mind:

-The pair of characters will return to the host's canon point. The host will temporarily return to their physical state at whatever their canon point was.
-Anything they do will be undone after they return to Luceti.
-If they are going to be part of the Alternate Universe aspect of the event, they won't remember the visit until after they have returned to normal.

Disclaimer: Visiting canon worlds will mean having to NPC characters that may already exist in Luceti, but will have no memory or knowledge of it. Be respectful and in character and bear in mind that these do not reflect upon characters in game!

ALSO! Threading out the visit is 100% optional. You're entirely free and encouraged to discuss and handwave what goes on if you want. But if you would like to thread it out, you may do so here.

Uh... there was this shopkeeper we met in the same town who liked to change his hat and go by different names when he did different things. He was a little crazy.

...To be fair, I meant at a national level.

[Wow. Okay, nearly there. He swallows, looking uncomfortable]

To be fair, [she says, mimicking his phrase lightly just because she can] he was the one that sold us the two-headed fish.

[She doesn't fail to notice his discomfort, but she... isn't exactly sure what to do about it. This is important.]

[A...ah. They're here. It's not a house, but rather it's a tenant sort of place. you know that apartment complexes that look like motels that I don't know what they are called his mom's in one of the first floor. a few doors down... and when he's in front of it he stares at the door]

[She glances between him and the door.]

Do you think she's home?

I don't really know. I don't keep track of her goings ons, but... it is a Sunday night.

...it will be okay, Masaomi.

[Even if it's not, you have to face her.

...and I have a few things I want to say to her as well.]

Ah... not really.

[A forced smile. There is, no way it'll be okay. He exhales lightly before... knocking lightly on the door. No reason to hesitate.

There's a distinct pause between the knock and answer I will represent by ending the tag here]

[Katara shifts on her feet until she finds her balance and... goes to let go of Masaomi's hand, not wanting to present the wrong impression while they wait.]

[It's a distinct pause. Masaomi's rigid, which is why he makes no effort to take her hand again. He just swallows, and considers pushing Katara aside so she doesn't need to see his mother. God he doesn't want to be here. He does not want to be here.

Slowly, the door has the sound of someone looks through the peephole, and then a groan as the door is opened. The woman who opens the door is middle-aged, well dressed, with somewhat curly dark hair but comparative light eyes. Masaomi's eyes. But her eyes are narrowed at her idiot son right now, until she glances at Katara, widens her eyes a bit, and then looks back to Masaomi.

Masaomi bows, somewhat rigidly] Good evening...

[At which she exhales sharply, the way Masaomi does sometimes.]

"Good evening."

[She won't be totally rude]

[Katara follows suit, bowing as well. She has a feeling it's more respect than is deserved in this situation, but she's willing to go along with a cultural thing for the moment.

When she straightens, she smiles at the woman and gives her a chance.]

Hello.

[She'll let Masaomi make the introductions, but if he doesn't she's perfectly willing to take care of that herself.]

[And indeed, Masaomi will. Scrambling to try to explain Katara, he goes to wave at her, also making a little hand motion following it up!]

Right, this one is Katara! She uh, well, I'm hanging around with her for the timg being and she... wanted to come. [...God this is a lame thing. His hand motions die down and he hangs his head before groaning and finishing, lamely] See you?

[To her credit, the woman just raises her eyebrow, crossing her arms in the door before moving a bit to open up the doorway some more in case they need to come inside. Masaomi doesn't take it as an invitation]

"Just Katara?" [No -chan, no -san? Heh] "Well then, I'm Masaomi's mother. My name is Yori Kida. Pleased to meet you."

[There's some small bitterness in the way she says "Kida," which Masaomi at least clearly senses. He'll explain latter if Katara asks]

Pleased to meet you too. [Katara, on the other hand, does take the door opening as an invitation, and shifts towards it before glancing at Masaomi.

...you know, maybe they should have made up a cover story on the way here. Any chance of this happening or you responding to that 'Just Katara' or are you going to leave that in her creative hands?]

[Masaomi doesn't take it. When Katara shifts, Yori moves further in and with a small sigh-] "Come in."

[Masaomi's too frozen in place from just Katara to formulate a response, so he just steps into the apartment, kicking off his shoes in the immediate space after the door, and mutters "excuse me" the way he would entering a stranger's home]

Thank you. [Katara follows suit and habit, also kicking off her shoes but with a decided less amount of familiarity in the gesture. She decides to work that.]

I'm an exchange student, and Masaomi's been kind enough to show me around. [Her Japanese is, in fact, slightly accented, so it works.] I'm still getting used to a lot of your culture.

[So really, you can just blame her for the intimacy of the names.]

[Yori, if she was suspicious of that is mostly so because A) it's a Sunday boy what are you even doing? and B) why would her idiot son be the one assigned to this. Masaomi seems to recognize both of those flaws in Katara's story immediately as well and becomes even more uncomfortable. In any case, into Yori's apartment is three rooms: a living room area, a different bedroom, and a kitchen. So basically, it's a very good one. she turns into the kitchen]

"I see, so my boy is showing you around. What can I do for you?"

[...this is a nice apartment.]

We've been friends for a little while, and I wanted to meet his mother.

[She shrugged a little, not minding opening up some of the truth.]

My own died when I was younger, so I won't have the chance to return the favor, but... this is what friends do, isn't it? Take each other to meet their families?

[Really, it's evident that Katara is completely to blame for this scenario.]

[Katara why?

As for Masaomi he stands back here with an awkward smile. Yori, for her art lets out a small laugh because it seems like they missed the point a bit, but won't harp on it too much beyond]

"Perhaps more something lovers do, actually." [A beat] "I'm sorry to hear about your mother though, Katara-chan. Ah... do you want some tea?"

[Friends for a little while. Masaomi looks frozen in death back here]

"Oh, not at all. This is probably the most pleasant visit my boy's given me in a while." [With a rather pointed look at Masaomi, which he hangs his head at, before she goes to busy herself with making the tea]

We c-can't stay long though.
