I don't remember having been dead recently. [ It's almost said in a dry sort of tone, since.. is she making a joke here? That's a pretty bad joke then, but at the same time he can't believe she's joking. She wouldn't seem as genuine about it otherwise.

A pause and he raises an eyebrow instead. ]

Did I.. die? [ Here, in this place? Did it happen on that day he can't remember? ]

This place is way better than Naraka ever was! It practically reaches Lady Mathias's Utopia, even if it comes at a price.

[ On the plus side, Aerith furiously shredding cheese helps to work out her upset.

On the minus, she's... still pretty distracted by the thoughts about it. She wants to know what happened, but she knows at the same time, if it was her--she's never wanted to talk about it.

Zack's never really wanted to talk about it either... Vincent's the same, too.

She gazes at her cheese mountain a bit despondently before thinking of the one possible bright side to these bright eyes. ] So--hey, that means you were in SOLDIER, right? [ ...possibly tactless as Cloud, also bright-eyed, hadn't been, but it only occurs to her afterward. ]

Hey! [Quickly fading smile. What are you doing up so early and why are you at her door?] Everything okay?

[Mistake or not, I'm here. That makes Ace pause for a while. After a few minutes, he smiles to himself.]

It's a little easier now, after the surprise has worn off a bit, but... her guard's definitely still up. She doesn't tack on the "technically" or similar that would make her answer more accurate. ]

It is. There's no mistaking the visible relief on her face upon hearing that. Not knowing what has or has not been changed, it scares her. No wonder hijacking was such a successful form of torture in the Capitol.
