Pokémon battle! And we'll see who is the better trainer! And we'll see who has the bigger Pokéballs!
Who: Gold (
mischiefbreeder) and Silver (
tsuntrader), plus any spectators!
What: Silver issued a battle challenge to Gold, who accepted.
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: The Battle Dome
Summary: Gold and Silver have been in Luceti together for a year and yet have never had a single Pokémon battle. Deciding it's time to rectify, they head off to the Battle Dome to throw down!
Rating: PG? I mean, it's Pokémon...
[Gold had been anxiously waiting for this day. Sure, the standard format for Pokémon battles involved just battling whenever your eyes meet, but if they did that, there'd be constant battles all day, every day. Therefore, these things had to be planned.
...Besides that, Silver was his rival. Always has been, always will be. That makes this battle special. A battle to settle old scores... No, a battle to determine who's the best trainer out of the two of them, and furthermore... To show everyone just how it's done.
It was time. Their battle lies ahead.]

Not those elements, anyways. My nature doesn't fit in that line-up.
[...though yes, still being vague because Battle Dome. Talking about chakra natures isn't the same thing about talking the formulas for his jutsus, at least.]

[He blinks, still pretty confused.]
no subject
Well, okay then, boys, fine. Be that way.]
It's interesting that each element has an assigned weakness. For us, it's just all about how well you can bend - but these elements are automatically weaker to these other ones?
[So weird.]

[He's assumed it was. this whole time]

Fire surpasses over wind, wind over lightning, lightning over earth, earth over water, water over fire.
But we don't bend elements like you guys do, so much as learn specific techniques. The strength of those jutsus is most important, but when otherwise evenly matched, the element is the deciding factor. A lit candle wouldn't stand up to a strong gale, for example.

I can see how that makes sense. If it worked like that, it could of made some matches easier. [Then he remembers most of his enemies were Firebenders.] ...But mostly it would probably be harder.

[She shrugged a little.]
But I guess I'll take what I can get.

Especially when it's your life on the line.
[And in his world, it usually is. There's a reason why nature transformation users are considered powerhouses. But that's still not something he wants to go into here, and someone needs to fix the confrontational tone Masaomi keeps bringing into this.]
Maah, it'd be cool if some chakra paper showed up. We could see what nature yours is, Masaomi.
[And a grin at the Avatar people.] I'd be interested to see if it'd react to your chi, too.
no subject
Chakra paper, huh? That would be really neat. It could tell me if I'm still wind in your world?
no subject
Or to put it more plainly: She doesn't like the idea of having an ingrained weakness.
But since she'd rather not put that more plainly, and Shikamaru's changed the subject, she'll let it go with a dour, questioning look towards Masaomi.]
You guys have paper that can tell you what your strengths are?
[She's not sure if she's about to totter into Aunt Wu-like fangirlism, or if it's more along the line that she prefers to define herself.]

He wanted that bullet, thank you very much, so what if he had to get shot to get it.]

It's made from a special kind of tree that we feed chakra as it grows. The paper that's made from it is highly sensitive to even the smallest amounts of chakra as a result, to the point that it can distinguish a person's nature through it.
So if someone with a water nature were to touch it, for example, it would grow damp. For wind, the paper would split in half.
[That said, maybe he will see about requesting some. It could be interesting for Masaomi. With Katara and Aang, he's mostly curious to see if the similarities between chakra and chi are that thorough.]

A... chakra tree? That sounds amazing! Now I really want to try one! [He makes a slight whistling sound as he envisions a paper cutting in half]
no subject
And with chakra as close to chi as it seems to be...
That's just creepy.]
Can you feed any tree chakra?
no subject
...You know he didn't think of that]
no subject
I dunno. I've never tried. [But it's clear the idea doesn't bother him. It doesn't eat it eat it, Katara, gosh. He cups his chin.] I could test it here, but it'd take too long to get anything out of it. I'd be better off trading in points for the paper.
no subject
There are some pretty weird trees out there. But I think I can understand how they can connect to the energy inside us. I hope it's not too much of a trouble to get some of that paper.

[Something of a joke, at least to him.] It's okay, I'll just blame you guys.

Thanks, Shikamaru.
