[A Town Meeting for how to handle the situation. No doubt people will come and speak up about things in turn. Despite the fact that I'm posting with Scorpius he's obviously not the one organizing it. There's an OOC Plotting Post here.

This post will have two subthreads mostly for quick and easy organizational purposes - one to put aside the proposing of ideas or questions, ICly (if you want to not write out the whole thing ICly you could just put up an OOC description of what they're doing. and then a second for mingling which isn't necessarily publicly proposing some big idea or question

[ Ryoji was dragged here by Minato, and mostly he's been just quietly listening in. He seems pretty uncertain about something and keeps looking over at the group that's volunteering as a defensive force against whatever the Malnosso send at them. Unusually, he doesn't seem twitchy and he doesn't seem to be bouncing around to talk to everyone. Rather, he seems to be having some sort of debate with himself... ]

[Grune still doesn't really know what's going on at the meeting, and she's unlikely to fully understand even when things are explained to her. But one thing she does know is that Ryoji doesn't look very happy right now.

And so she comes to sit down next to him, leaning forward to look at him in concern.]

Ryoji, are you feeling all right?

[death_awaits_you]

huh? O-oh! Hi, Grune-chan! [Ryoji is quick to smile brightly at her, waving.]

I'm all right. Just thinking a bit. How are you?

[Seeing his smile reassures her, and she returns it immediately.]

Oh, I'm very good!

[Then her expression grows a little serious.] But...I think lots of people aren't very happy right now. Do you know why?

Yeah. [ He nods and then is quiet for a moment or two, figuring out how to sum up what he's gathered. ]

The Malnosso sent us a message demanding that we return a person we apparently have in the infirmary to them. We have six days to do so, and if we don't, they'll do something bad to all of us.

Most of us don't want to hand him over, though, so we're trying to figure out how to protect everyone, just in case.

[Grune is silent for a long moment. Those are actually terms she understands.

Everyone here wants to protect the village. They want to protect their home. They're all going to work together.

And she's going to help.]

Why do they want that person?

I'm not really sure... I don't think they told us.

Maybe they want to do something nice for him.

[Oh, Grune. If only.]

I... don't think they do. If they did, I think more people would want to hand him over.

[That kind of logic makes sense to even Grune. Still, she wouldn't be herself if she didn't make one last attempts to look on the bright side.]

Maybe everyone made a little mistake and the Malnosso really will be nice.

Maybe... though the last time they took me somewhere, they weren't very nice, so I wouldn't want to take the risk...

We'll do our best to keep everyone safe instead.

[Hearing that people were mean to Ryoji is...upsetting. He's such a nice boy. Why would anyone do that?

She doesn't reply right away, instead spending a little time simply thinking. This must be why everybody doesn't look very happy. They must be worried about protecting the village.

When she does speak, Grune's voice is just a little quieter than usual.]

Yes, that's very important. [She gives a little nod.] I'm going to help everyone, too.

[ And then it's Ryoji's turn to be oddly quiet for several moments. ]

I think -- ...

I'm going to do my best to help protect everyone. I can do that.

[lostinmyway]

[At his words, she smiles at him, her expression proud and warm.]

I'm glad. I think it's a good way to say thank you to everyone for being so kind, don't you?

Yes, definitely. Many people have done so much for me, so now it's my turn to try and do something for them.

[lostinmyway]

[That is definitely an attitude she can understand. And....]

Why don't we work together? Everything always goes better when people help each other out.

[death_awaits_you]

[ He smiles brightly and nods. ]

Yes. Let's do that! Thank you, Grune-chan!

[lostinmyway]

[She smiles back just as brightly.]

You're welcome! Thank you, Ryoji!

[Seated as they are, it would be a little difficult to give him a hug. And so she leans in to kiss him on the cheek instead.]

[death_awaits_you]

[ Aww! Ryoji blushes a little and smiles, though he twists to turn and give Grune as much of a hug as he can. ]

I'm really glad we're friends, Grune-chan.

[ He then pauses as he stands up and straightens his scarf. ]

I'll be back in a bit. There's something I need to go tell someone!

[ He's off to go volunteer now. ]

All right. I'll see you soon!

[She stays seated and smiles up at him. When he comes back, she's going to make sure to tell him how much she's glad they're friends, too.]
