[Tis a mingling post. Mingle!  Seriously. The orchard's lit up, there is alcohol, there are snacks, there are mikan. There's also piles of coloured paper for much later, but that's another story.

[Nami takes Raine into the cottage, which is a reasonably simplistic and sparsely furnished place with lamps because there's no electricity out this way. But it's lit well enough! She puts the cookies down in the small kitchen and digs out a plate to put them on.] So did you come up here by yourself?

[wise_maiden]

I did, yes. [If she had known that certain other people were planning on showing up, she might have gone along with them. But there was always the walk home for that.] It looks like you have quite the turnout already.

[mikangirl]

[Ah well, she really wasn't expecting Albert to be here after all, but she'd kind of been curious.] Given the last minute demand, I've gotta say I'm both surprised and happy about that. Maybe they just like the taste of my mikan.

[...or are masochists, one and all.]

[He'd been casually showing up at parties after she'd already gotten there. It wouldn't be the first time.]

I'd say the timing was probably just about right for most of them, with the repairs coming in and the village being sorely in need of something positive. Add that in with your magnetic personality, and you've got yourself a recipe for a celebration.

[Heh.] You know, you're the second person to tell me I have a magnetic personality. I think I like the compliment. [She busies herself balancing the cookies semi-artistically on the plate-- which means she makes a token effort, becuase let's face it, we're gonna eat those things.] I'm glad though, if things have been that harsh for people. I know I certainly needed the distraction.

Between the draft, the storm, and the clean up, it's much more enjoyable to celebrate with friends. So perhaps we should be thanking you for having something to celebrate this week.

So far. Today's gone a long way to making up for the last week, that's for sure. [Her smile is much warmer.] And if it helps other people to unwind, then I don't have to feel so guilty about being demanding.

[Not that she really does, but... well.]

Well, it's a demand for a good cause, and I'm certain your housemates were chomping at the bit to do something like this anyway.

Any excuse for a party with this crew. [She grins.] But yeah, I think some of them were especially needing to get drunk today.

[wise_maiden]

To "get drunk"? I suppose that gives them a way to not think about things for a while.

Well, figure of speech. But we're pirates. Any excuse for a celebration, as I say.

[It's been a damn hard month for some of them, though.]

It seems like there are a few of them for these couple of days, anyway. Life doesn't seem to really slow down for you here, does it?

Nope. And here I've heard rumours that some people actually get bored in Luceti.

[wise_maiden]

[A soft chuckle.] You should hear some of the complaints of boredom that come over the network. Especially for newcomers just settling in, or people who haven't made routines for themselves.

Clearly people who've yet to sample all that Luceti has to offer.

[Ahahaha.]

Perhaps you could offer them tips.

I'm not sure anyone would appreciate the kind of tips I'd give.

At least it would let them know that things aren't entirely boring here. [She teases. And still waits patiently for her to try a cookie.]

[Grin.] Well, in that case maybe I could compose a few pointers.

[...OH RIGHT COOKIE TESTING. The mun forgot.] Anyway. Let's try these out. You haven't had one yourself yet?

You're the birthday girl; you get first dibs. [Not tasting her food before she presents it is a bad habit. Sometimes, with prodding by Sanji or Albert, she remembers, but...

Well, they look like cookies. Maybe it won't be so bad?]

[They're mikan cookies. How bad could they be? DOWN THE HATCH.]

[And of course, instead of trying her own cookie, she simply waits eagerly for the results. It's what a good chef does, right? Making sure that their gifts are well received...!] What do you think?

.......why, yes. She is still chewing. And wondering what to say that isn't horrible. In the end, though, this is far and above some people's cooking attempts she could mention. A-ahahah. It's the thought that counts?]

Those are the best mikan cookies I've had all year.

Is that so? I'm glad you like them! [Perhaps next year she can try to add a new twist to the flavor.]

[Nami doesn't want to hurt Raine's feelings, and they really aren't the worst thing she's tasted, so she eats the last of her cookie dutifully and then puts the rest of the cookies on the kitchen bench... and puts the bread box in front of them like she's hiding them.] I think those can get saved for my work days up here. If I take them outside they'll probably be all gone within a few minutes.
