Who: Anyone attending Nami's birthday party. /o/
What: ...Nami's birthday party. 8|
When: Evening on the 4th July.
Where: The mikan orchard.
Summary: An impromptu last minute stubborn celebration of something that's fun.
Rating: ...P for pinwheels? 8|a

[Tis a mingling post. Mingle! Seriously. The orchard's lit up, there is alcohol, there are snacks, there are mikan. There's also piles of coloured paper for much later, but that's another story.

[Vivi nods, sitting up straight to give Nami her full attention.]

Okay. It's easier to start with just a single colour pinwheel. But we can make two of them. You start by measuring out squares on the paper. Here-- [She collects the pencil and a ruler already on the table.] You can measure it out with the ruler equally enough-- and then after that we use scissors...

[Vivi nods, setting the pink paper she selected for her flower aside for now, paying close attention to what Nami's showing her. It doesn't seem too hard, mostly just making a few cuts and folding. She picks another piece of paper (sea-green) and begins to make her own. She does all right until the paper is cut, then hesitates before looking back up to Nami.]

Show me the way to fold it again?

Sure thing. [She reaches out to tape one of her pieces, then folds one edge over gently to meet the other so that the paper is curved.] Like that! And then you need to pin it... [Hmm.] I can do that part if you like, though.

Okay! She thinks she's got it this time; she really does. She's fine with letting Nami do the pokey bit, however.]

[Her face lights up as Nami displays the finished product.] Wow, it looks good! [Apparently pinwheels are fairly simple to make. Who knew.]

[And then, reaching for her pink paper and holding it up:] Can you show me how to make a flower now?

Sure! [She'll proceed to do just that, though it's clear she's not quite as good with this one.] I was never much for making paper flowers at home, so this is pretty new. I only learned how to make a pinwheel when I came here, for that matter.

[Vivi watches as Nami demonstrates, carefully imitating her with her own paper. Once it's complete, she beams, though the result is no better constructed than the one Nami gave her.]

How does it look? [Holding it out toward Nami.] I made it for you, so we can both have flowers in our hair!

It's very cute! [She can't talk for quality, and besides it's cute that Vivi made it, so Nami sticks into her hair with great aplomb and fluffs her orange locks.] How does it look?

Beautiful. [Vivi beams, clearly quite pleased with the results.]

Oh! Can I make one for Ikki too?

You can make as many as you want. Make sure you make one for Sanji-kun, too. [Huhuhuhu.]

[Nami, you are the best.] Okay! I'll make a really pretty one for him, too!

[She surveys the different colored paper, quickly selecting red and orange for Ikki's flower. After a little more deliberation, she picks light blue and cream for Sanji. With a look of extreme concentration, she begins to put the flowers together.]

I bet he'll wear it proudly. [Nami grins, and she leaves Vivi to her flower making, though she won't head out again just yet. She does a small tidy of the cut away paper refuse and closes the pins back up, before giving Vivi's new pinwheel a spin.]

[It's not too much longer before Vivi holds up a flower in each hand to display her results.]

All done!

...can we have birthday cake now?

Heck yeah! [Those are awesome flowers. Well, they'll do. |D] Let's go find some right now.

Okay! [Vivi carefully tucks both flowers in her pocket. She'll deliver them later, but right now, cake is calling.]

Did you make a wish and blow out the candles already?

Not yet! But I think now's probably a good time for it. I'm hungry.

Yay! [Vivi nods emphatically, trotting along at a brisk pace, but taking care to stay at Nami's side.]

Did you pick out a wish yet? Think about it carefully, so you can make a good one! [You only get one birthday wish a year, after all.]

Hmm, I hadn't given much thought to it. Got any suggestions?

[The question takes Vivi aback. It's Nami's wish, after all, and she wouldn't presume to tell her what she should use it for. She decides it would be better to gently guide Nami in the right direction. She is a grown-up, after all, and as far as Vivi can tell, they seem to have trouble with things like this sometimes.]

Um. Well. What's something you really want?

[I want to go home.]

Hmmm...

...maybe I'll wish that Zoro feels better soon.

[She doesn't want to be too serious.]

[Vivi's eyes widen slightly in surprise, and then a big smile spreads over her face.] Really? That's so nice to use your wish for him!

What can I say? I'm a selfless individual.

[A-ahaha.]

[Any irony in that statement is lost on Vivi.]

I bet he'll be really happy, too!
