Who: Anyone attending Nami's birthday party. /o/
What: ...Nami's birthday party. 8|
When: Evening on the 4th July.
Where: The mikan orchard.
Summary: An impromptu last minute stubborn celebration of something that's fun.
Rating: ...P for pinwheels? 8|a

[Tis a mingling post. Mingle! Seriously. The orchard's lit up, there is alcohol, there are snacks, there are mikan. There's also piles of coloured paper for much later, but that's another story.

[Vivi hangs on tightly to Marco's feathers as they begin to dive. Now that's more like it!] Wheeeee~!

[Once she catches her breath, she answers his question.] I don't think so. What's a barrel roll?

Like a sideways loop. A spiral.

We'll try a regular loop first.

[Because the entire Straw Hat crew and most of Luceti will kill him if he accidentally drops her the way he dropped Ace. Yeah.]

Make sure you're really holding on tight, eh.

[There's another burst of speed as he soars up and back down before looping backwards in a loop de loop.]

Oh! That sounds fun!

[Vivi nods, threading her fingers into his feathers to get an extra-tight grip, and crouching a little lower on his back. She gives an excited squeal as they begin to climb, and before she knows it, the world is shifting crazily as they loop around. The air is rushing so fast she finds it hard to catch her breath, but the only sound she'd be making if she could would be a shriek of delight.]

[Swerves and levels out as the come out of while Marco shakes off any dizziness threatening to creep up on him and sneaks a peek back at his rider.]

Ready to try a barrel roll then? [At least she seems to be enjoying it. The acrobatics are rarely something he bothers with on his own, but it's fun to get reactions.]

Yes, yes! [Only enthusiastic nodding coming from back here.]

Okay stay really close and low, all right!

[And with that, Marco tumbles over side over side, in a barrel roll in midair.]

[Vivi just has time to shout a quick, "Okay!", pressing herself low to his back, and he's begun. The initial rush as they begin to turn is like nothing she's ever experienced before. It's almost like they're holding still and the horizon is rotating around them.]

[Marco's a bit breathless as he pulls out of it, leveling straight and he keeps flying forward until he can catch his breath again, just relieved that Vivi has enough sense to hold on. Probably from experience. Or just plain not being as rash a D. He shivers a little from the adrenaline, shaking off some sparkles and sneaks a quick glance at her to make sure she wasn't scared.]

[I dunno, Marco. Does she look scared?]

[He grins to himself at that and soars up higher, speeding up to catch some lift and looking for where the currents are likely to dip best. He's got a plan~]

[Vivi's just enjoying the ride now, unaware he's got anymore tricks up his sleeve (wing?)]

[Both, given how he turns his clothes into the flames. When they reach a pretty good height, he drops into a dive, spiraling downwards ever faster. Of course, it's probably got nothing on a falcon's dive, but it sure is fun! Especially with the jet sound effects.]

[Vivi gives a shrill scream of pure delight as they dive. Hope your ears aren't too sensitive, Marco. >.>]

[Nope, if anything, he's glad to hear it, it means she's having fun and not scared breathless. He spirals down as low as he's willing to risk before buffeting the wings out high in an arc to get more lift and swooping back up and out of it.]

That was so good! [Laughing, and maybe bouncing excitedly a little on his back.] You give even better rides than Pell!

Really? [Laughs back in return, blushing a little happily under the feathers.] I'll have to keep that in mind, eh.

[Even if it's just because he's had more years with his devil fruit to perfect it and he's not worried about his boss finding out and getting mad; it's still nice to hear. Besides it definitely means she's happy.]

Thank you! Thank you so much! [And she does her best to give him a hug.]

[Awww he will just melt into a blue fiery phoenix puddle.]

The pleasure is all mine Vivi. Us blue types gotta stick together, eh? [Best reason.]

Ready to go back to the party? I wouldn't want you to miss out anything too fun.

[She giggles at that. They do kind of match, don't they?]

[But it is kind of hard work holding on for so long, and she's starting to get a little tired, so Marco is probably right.] Okay.

...can we do one more loop before we go back?

Sure thing. Hold on tight though, eh?

[It goes without saying, but he's going to say it anyway. He's too used to deal with Ace and his reckless crew. There's another burst of speed, and Marco pumps his wings to get going as fast as possible before diving upwards and back in another loop.]

[Vivi gives one breathless scream as they loop over, taking care to hold tight. As they level out, she allows her grip to slacken, resting her cheek against Marco's feathers once he begins to glide back to the party. Congrats, you now officially rank amongst her favorite grown-ups in Luceti.]

[VICTORY \o/]

[Marco lets out a small excited laugh himself, simply enjoying the rush of the wind and the excitement of his rider almost as much as his own. He circles around to head back to the mikan grove and slowly begins the decline, landing over near where Robin planned to put her garden since it was the most open area for now.]

So what do you think? Almost as good as Pell?

Mm! [Loyalty dictates she doesn't just proclaim him to be better period, though the ride was more exciting than Pell's typically are. Vivi knows that Pell is worried about both her well-being and her father's disapproval, but the more careful rides he gives could certainly be improved with a few mid-air stunts.]

[Vivi waits for Marco to come to a stop before sliding off his back, crossing to the front of him. Her hair is a disheveled mess from the wind, though miraculously Nami's paper flower made it through the ride.]

Then I'm glad you had fun Princess. [Formally bows as a phoenix for the ridiculousness of it.]

And remember, mostly our little secret, eh? [So he doesn't have to give rides to everyone ever. Though he already has to most of the One Piece cast and some of their friends.]

[Vivi politely inclines her head back at him, her smile just as broad as ever.] Oh, okay. But...

[She sneaks a look around her to make sure no one's spying--unnecessarily considering they're alone here.] Maybe you could give me another ride sometime?
