Summary: An impromptu last minute stubborn celebration of something that's fun.

[Tis a mingling post. Mingle! Seriously. The orchard's lit up, there is alcohol, there are snacks, there are mikan. There's also piles of coloured paper for much later, but that's another story.

As Aang wanders around, he might notice a boy with an overly large top hat watching him curiously. For two reasons! First, Aang seems to be the only other boy closest to his age around ~~sob if he only knew~~, and two...

Well, Sabo's approaching Aang for reason number two.]

Hey there! Uh... Those are real tattoos, right? Do they mean anything? [Yes, he's very much fascinated by them.]

[He's definitely older than he looks, but he greets the newcomer with a smile.]

Yeah! These are my airbending tattoos. My people get them when they master airbending.

Airbending? What's that? [Oh, wait a minute. This isn't the Gray Terminal anymore. Manners work here.]

Ah, sorry for asking so suddenly. I just haven't seen that kind of tattoo before so I got curious. [Offering a handshake and a smile.] My name's Sabo!

[Not being fluent with manners himself, Aang doesn't really notice the difference. He still goes into the handshake slightly awkwardly.]

It's no problem. And nice to meet you, Sabo! My name's Aang. In my world, there are people called benders who can each control a different element. I was raised an airbender, so I can manipulate air a lot! But I'm also the Avatar, so I'm the only one who can do all four elements.

[So much interest glimmering in his eyes now.] Whoa... that sounds one awesome place you live in!

So bending's manipulating the elements... Is it anything like the Filial magic here in Luceti? With the spirits, I mean? Can anyone just do them? And you said you can do four... So being this Avatar must be really special, huh?

[Aang feeds off of his excitement.]

It is a beautiful world. Especially now that the war's done.

It's kinda like the spirit stuff, but you can do more with it. Bending feels a lot more natural, and you don't need to talk to spirits! But not everyone can do it. My best friend Sokka can't bend, but he can do lots of other cool things instead like throw boomerangs. And... yeah, being the Avatar is kind of special, in good and bad ways. There's only one Avatar at a time, and he or she's supposed to help bring peace to the world.

[Stories are like drugs to this kid. He's mentally and emotionally-invested in every story he hears, that's why he sobers a bit at the mention of a war. But when Aang explained the Avatar's nature, he's smiling again.]

Then you must be a pretty damn good Avatar, if you're able to end that war! [So he's talking to a real life "hero". Wow.]

[He's slightly taken aback by the kid cursing, but he goes on normally.]

I guess I am. Thanks! But I wouldn't have been able to get it done without all of my friends.

[Whoops. Sorry, Aang. This is a pirate you're talking to.]

Well, yeah. All the great adventures of heroes and great men are done with his friends and nakama! A hero can't do everything by himself, y'know. [Pauses, then grins brightly.] And you must be a greater man than I first thought, if you can acknowledge that!

Thanks, Sabo. I'm glad you value friends so much. They really have done so much to help me - and most of them were my bending teachers, too. Is "nakama" another word for friends?
