Beach Party!?

Who: Anyone who wants to come!
What: BEACH PARTY! (For Katara or something)
When: In the evening, about 7PM
Where: On the beach! Somewhere!
Summary: It's Katara's 17th and while all friends of Team Avatar are invited, anyone else can gatecrash too.
Rating: E for everyone (for God's sake there's going to be seven year olds!)

[A few days before the birthday, Katara's housemates began birthday preparations. Not quite entirely secret, but they made invitations, told friends, spread the word, and so on. Birthday on the beach. Be there or be a loser McButtface without friends.

And so there's a party! With tables! And chairs! And umbrellas! And the sun is setting, but the Malnosso had no taste and put the ocean on the east side of Luceti, so it's a sunset over the mountains which isn't as cool as an ocean sunset. But anyway. There's a volleyball net and, you know, an ocean to swim in. Also Sokka ordered a generator with his mission points and abducted the karaoke machine. It was mostly to provide some music, but people can get up and sing with it too.

As for the food? There's a table for that. It's a bring your own dish affair, since Katara is kind of their team cook and they can't exactly make her own birthday meal, right? So anyone coming can bring whatever they like and set it out. The gang brought some meals of their own, so there's bound to be some cool dishes from the air nomads, water tribe, and fire nation. And cake. A big chocolate cake. Someone made it! We don't know who. (Feel free to dibs being the baker or something if you want.)

And a table! A table for presents! Bring a present, set it there. It's very organized.]

((ooc: It's out on the beach and just a general sort of party affair, so feel free to have characters show up even if they're not friends with the birthday girl. It's a free for all. SO YOU BETTER MINGLE OR THERE'S GONNA BE WORDS.

[ She lets him go after a second, her arms going around her knees as she crouches nearby, giving Shikamaru her full attention. ] A lemon cookie, like I wanted!

[ The question is, of course, did Aang pass or fail? ]

[Gotta love you, Aang, but let this be a lesson to you. 8|]

Then that's our target.

[And raising a finger to his lips to show they have to be quiet now, he makes an exaggerated show of looking to see if anyone's watching them.

Assured they're not, he waves a hand over his shoulder for her to follow as he crawls through the sand. Quick! To the backside of the table!]

Right! [ Said in a very soft whisper, as Ikki took the hushing gesture to heart. She looked around, too, the exaggerated movements more conspicuous than anything else could be.

Time to move! Ikki went to her hands and knees to crawl through the sand, biting her lip to keep from giggling, although the seriousness of her mission helped in that respect. ]

And now that they're safely hidden, he speaks in whispers.]

All right, this is the safe zone, but it's the only place we can talk. When we move or sit up, the mission requires absolute quiet.

[breezing]

[ This is serious ninja business. Ikki listens closely, and in another world her father probably has a heart attack because someone has found a game that involves Ikki being quiet and she is willingly playing it. ]

Got it! [ Still whispering, like a good little ninja airbender. ]

[They don't call him a genius for nothing.]

Our objective is to grab one lemon cookie. [And he begins to draw a diagram in the sand of the food table.] It'll be tricky getting to - it's the past the brownie and the root beer, and also situated directly next to the soup Aang made.

One false move, and it could be over.

[ She's studying this diagram like it's the most important exam of her life, basically. They will not be stopped in their mission! Lemon cookies for all! ...Or, okay, one lemon cookie for Ikki. ]

I helped! [ With the soup. But after that distraction, said with a brilliant smile, Ikki went back to serious mode, which was sort of like a little frown of concentration. ] And Katara could catch us.

[ That's...apparently the worst "over" she can think of. ]

We'll need to scout out for them. I'll look over the table at the left-side of the beach [he points left, then uses his other hand to point right] and you look on the right from under the table, since you're smaller. Remember, you can't be seen.

[breezing]

[ Times are hard. How many upstanding figures can there be in one place?! Although if Sokka or Aang sees them, it should be okay. ]

Gotcha! [ Ikki nodes, seriously concentrating still, and looks around, preparing to creep out of the safe zone - then pausing to give Shikamaru a worried glance. ] When do we meet back?

Twenty seconds. It's just a quick look.

[breezing]

Gotcha! [ Determined nod, and she's going to duck out sneakily to go RECON. ...It's only sneaky because she's so small, really, as she looks anything but casual. ]

[endgames]

[It will suffice, for her Super E-Rank mission. Shikamaru is much better about hiding himself, if only because if he gets caught looking like he's giving Ikki a cookie, Katara will fire him or something.

But mwahaha. Does he have a plan.And once he's narrowed down the timing of this, he draws an "X" in the sand and crawls back to the "safe zone".]

[breezing]

[ Meanwhile, if Ikki gets caught at the snack table, she'll probably just get fed more vegetables. Or something. She's actually not gotten into enough trouble to know any of the potential pitfalls here. With her own parents? Well, probably a scolding at worst.

She's not sure about a plan, but she makes it to the safe zone with her recon safely completed, starting to sketch it out on the sand. ]

[She beats him back, so he comes back to find... ha, she's like a natural to this. He fights off a smile.]
