So... meanwhile, back at the ranch, there were opportunities for those who have caught their journals to know who's coming, and those who have not caught their journals to be taken by surprise at the new Water Tribe member in the house.

[Wow. Sokka gives her a flat look of "wow I can't believe you're doing that", then decides it's not a big deal because Toph is way worse. So.]

[She pulls her face away from the can, grinning a bit. Korra's upper lip is wet from what she did.]

Yeah, it's a lot better than the stuff we had. [It's not so bitter.]

[Satisfied as he is, he can't help but quip:]

It's depressing to think that seventy years of innovation later and we never manage to make a decent soda.

I guess they were too busy with the Satomobile.

Well, for us at least. I've heard it happen to others. [A shrug.] I know we're all probably famous and super important in your time, but you should relax. We're all basically the same age around here, right?

That's- [cough.] Not a problem, really.

[... okay, now he just frowns.] You could have at least pretended to hesitate first.

[She's not translucent! Really! ...Okay she is.]

I already know I become a councilman. Head councilman. Of Republic City. Plus the world saving. Entire Earth Kingdom not being a giant pile of ashes? That was me. So I know you've heard of me.

[Wait. This is going against his point of acting like he's just regular.]

[Korra lets out a suffering sigh and hits her forehead on the back of the chair.]

[You know, maybe he doesn't like this Avatar very much.

Maybe he would have made a better Water Tribe Avatar after all.]

I... I've been trying.

[To treat them like people. Like people who actually exist, and aren't some figment of a demented dream world - or skewed Spirit World - or something. She's been trying.]

Trying what? [He may be just a little bit lost now.]

To relax.

[But relaxing is hard when you're trying to do it.]

[Ah. Okay. Maybe he took it the wrong way.]

Relaxing's easy. The trick is to think of all the things you should be doing, and the decide they can wait for tomorrow. [He waves his hand vaguely in the air.] Whoosh. Problems gone for another day.
