[Steve is jogging past a row of trees when he hears a voice that seems to be raised in argument. He approaches and catches something about full moons and souls. When he gets near enough to see the source of the voice, it takes a minute to take in the situation.]

Are you...arguing with a tree?

[Talking trees isn't exactly something strange to Hugo, there are two in his world. But trees telling lies is definitely strange.]

It is spreading falsehoods about me. I can assure you I do not take people's souls.

[At least he's no longer hanging upside down from the tree. But this tree is definitely very close to becoming firewood.]

[His brows raise even higher, if that's possible. And he nods, slowly.]

That's...I'm glad to hear it. But why would the tree think that?

If I had to make a guess, it is that 'fun' we were promised by the Count. Our first experiment it would appear.

That and how I ended up here. I was trying to enter my apartment and ended up in the mountains and then arrived here.

[Not so much thanks to Hugo being lazy and deciding that trying to repeat a mistake another made with the Crystals they used in their world to teleport would be better than walking. At least that minimized the distance.]

I wouldn't know, I tried to teleport back. Looking at the distance I imagine that was a day or longer to walk.
