Who: Pepper Potts and her Super Secret Boyband AKA Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Billy Kaplan, and Teddy Altman. Also anyone who wanders by and wants to comment?
What: Building an art gallery
When: August 11 thru whenever they finish. No later than the 16th.
Where: The open space to the left of CH 4/across from House 39
Summary: So Pepper suckered some people into manual labor. These are the results.
Rating: PG-13, maybe, if someone hits their thumb with a hammer and says bad things.

[She can't hide it; Pepper is ecstatic to take this major step in the art gallery project. The construction marks the point where the idea shifts into reality, and this time? She's responsible for much more than 12% of the baby.

Of course, the good cheer will probably turn into frustration as the building goes on, but what can she do? Other than try to supervise. And yes, Tony, that is Pepper's job, so no attempting to use it as an excuse to slack off. Also part of Pepper's job is providing drinks and food for everyone involved, and making sure there are no major injuries, so expect refreshments and first aid kits on site. And when she's not tending to anyone else's needs or watching Steve and Tony at work for reasons, Pepper might even jump into the fray, attempting a bit of building herself--success remaining to be seen.]

[Billy glances up from his seat on a nearby tree stump, sucking absently on the tip of his thumb. He draws it back to look- it's a fascinating mixture of colours now with signs that it's going to get worse before long.]

...Well, it hasn't fallen off yet, so I'm going to assume that means it'll be alright.

[handing]

[Pepper winces at the motley skin.] Uh huh. Maybe you should go to the clinic, just to be sure.

[Sorry Billy. Pepper is not convinced by your clearly expert medical opinion.]

[Silly Pepper, she needs to learn that teenagers are stubborn folk.]

And miss the party? No way. I'll just ice it later, it's fine.

[handing]

[Silly Billy; did he forget who Pepper herds around for a living?]

Or you can grab some ice from the cooler and use it now. I'm sure Teddy will agree with me, if you need convincing.

[In other words? Do it or she'll tell.]

[....Touche. Them's fightin' words.]

Ah... no, that's okay. I'll just, um...

[He fidgets, then scampers over to get himself a drink; a moment later he returns with an ice-cold can of soda pressed up against his finger. Nothing like a good compromise, right?]

...This should do it.

[THE GAUNTLET IS THROWN.

And Pepper grins as Billy finds a compromise. It's something cold on his injury, so she's good with it.]

Works for me. Just don't drink it so fast that you lose the effect. You tried moving it around to make sure you still can?

Yeah, I gave it a wiggle or two. [He lifts his hand again to demonstrate, wincing a little, but the finger is moving without issue.] It's not broken or anything, just bruised. Serves me right for trying to be helpful.

[He's not bitter or anything about his patheticness, nooo.]

[She nods, glad to see that he's still able, even if it hurts. Less pleasing is the shot at himself that follows.]

Accidents happen, to everyone. It's not a big deal if construction isn't your thing.

Yeah, I know. I was just kind of hoping I'd be able to do more right from the get-go, after volunteering myself and Teddy for the job.

[handing]

But this works out better in a way. Let's say we run out of something. One of us can get it, and the others won't be left without a gopher.

[Pepper takes a look at said others, then leans closer to Billy, dropping her voice down to a conspiratorial whisper.]

Besides, you cannot tell me you aren't appreciating the opportunity to watch your boyfriend at work.

[Hrk. Was he that obvious? Though if he hadn't been before, he certainly is now, with the way his cheeks are going red.]

Not gonna deny that there are perks to this job, yeah...

[handing]

[No, not really obvious. But Pepper isn't naive, and considering what she already knows? It's a pretty safe guess.]

And if you weren't on the sidelines, you couldn't enjoy those perks nearly so much. So there's a definite bright side, meaning you shouldn't be so hard on yourself.

Not to mention that you'll be helping plenty later on.

[Well, if there's one thing she's good at, it's cheering him up, so that earns her a little smile.]

Heh... I'll try to remember that. Speaking of which, do you have plans for the interior decorating? That's my specialty.

[handing]

[She's glad to see it, much preferring Billy's smile to his pouting.]

Good. Because I don't think I could get Teddy to take off his shirt without making him suspicious.

[At the mention of interior decorating, Pepper nods; it's her specialty too.]

Well, I'm going to keep it simple and clean. After all, the goal is to display artwork, and I don't want to distract from that. [She flips through a few pages on the clipboard, then finds a sketch of the inside and hands it over.]

I want to reserve as much wall space as possible for paintings, but I think a couple of display cases would be a good idea too, for other pieces. And I wanted a sitting area off in this space--[she points out the spot]--so people can just talk if they want.

[Billy leans in to study the sketch, brows furrowing as he takes in the details. It's a nice layout, fairly straightforward, and after a moment he smiles again, nodding his agreement.]

I like it. And hey, if the display cases had wheels on them, you could switch up the layout whenever you wanted.

[handing]

[Pepper nods, considering it.] The wheels would have to lock though. I don't want someone to move the cases accidentally; they could end up breaking what's inside. May I?

[She takes the clipboard briefly, just long enough to add another note (locking wheels) with an arrow pointing to cases.]

[Another nod, and Billy leans back again, balancing the can of soda on his fingers as his gaze drifts back to the construction zone.]

Yeah, I second the wheels idea. Could probably have them tucked up underneath so you can't even see them.

[handing]

You're supposed to be holding that firmly to your thumb.

[No slacking Billy. Especially when it comes to taking care of yourself.]

Maybe. Although they shouldn't be too hard to get into place, or it'll defeat the purpose of having them.

This is working fine!

[He's a stubborn one. And technically the can is still against his thumb, it's just... spread out. Hush.]

I'm sure we can figure something out. We've got magic, super strength, and perfect planning, what more to we need?

[handing]

Would Teddy say that?

[You hush.]

True. That really is a lot going in our favor. And honestly, if wheels on display cases are the worst hiccup we have, I'll be thrilled.

What Teddy doesn't know won't hurt him.

[Pout. She's making an awfully big deal about a couple dented fingers.]

So now we just need a whole lot more art...

[handing]

But it might end up hurting you. Which seems a good reason to tell him.

[Pout away, Billy. That's what happens when someone cares about his well-being.]

Speaking of, how's the drawing going?

[Siiiigh. He fights it for a moment, then relents, switching back to holding the can instead, moving his free hand to tug a journal-sized sketchpad with a black cover from the carry-on bag he'd brought with him, offering it out to her.]

See for yourself.

[Inside, there's at least two dozen sketches, varying from scenery, to basic figures, to full-fledged portraits. Most of the pages have more than one image on them, and Pepper might find a number of them familiar- a person here and there, a landmark. There's a lot of Teddy (easy to draw someone you live with and watch a lot) and several of the fountain. There's even one of her.]

[At least Billy can take comfort in the fact that Pepper is a gracious victor? She doesn't say anything when he gives in.

Then again, her attention is pretty firmly focused on the sketchpad when he brings it out. Pepper's eyes light up, and she takes the book, eagerly flipping through.]

Wow. These are so good, Billy. [She pauses at the one of herself, then glances over at him.] I'm flattered to be included.

[He watches cautiously as she flips through, relaxing once she's passed on the compliment.]

God, I'm glad you're not offended. Some people get creeped out by that kind of thing, but it's easier to draw people I've seen more.
