Who: Pepper Potts and her Super Secret Boyband AKA Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Billy Kaplan, and Teddy Altman. Also anyone who wanders by and wants to comment?
What: Building an art gallery
When: August 11 thru whenever they finish. No later than the 16th.
Where: The open space to the left of CH 4/across from House 39
Summary: So Pepper suckered some people into manual labor. These are the results.
Rating: PG-13, maybe, if someone hits their thumb with a hammer and says bad things.

[She can't hide it; Pepper is ecstatic to take this major step in the art gallery project. The construction marks the point where the idea shifts into reality, and this time? She's responsible for much more than 12% of the baby.

Of course, the good cheer will probably turn into frustration as the building goes on, but what can she do? Other than try to supervise. And yes, Tony, that is Pepper's job, so no attempting to use it as an excuse to slack off. Also part of Pepper's job is providing drinks and food for everyone involved, and making sure there are no major injuries, so expect refreshments and first aid kits on site. And when she's not tending to anyone else's needs or watching Steve and Tony at work for reasons, Pepper might even jump into the fray, attempting a bit of building herself--success remaining to be seen.]

[For Steve, it felt good to be contributing to something. Here he had no war to fight in, no SHIELD to deal with, and no world to save. Well, in this case there's no immediate saving needed anyways. But he's never been the kind of guy to just sit around and revel in doing nothing.

So he is only too happy to be here helping build Pepper's gallery. Because he's one of two in this group to have a type of super strength, you can usually find him doing a lot of the heavy lifting; moving and holding up beams and supports. Anything that needs above average strength, Steve is the guy to do it.

[Pepper kneels next to the perpendicular line of a stud and a plate, hammering nails into the wood to secure the two pieces together. Her technique isn't quite perfect: most of her blows are closer to taps, and she's holding the hammer high on the handle. But she is getting the nails solidly in place, at least? And without hitting herself with the hammer, which is always a plus.

When Steve comes by with another stud, she looks up at him.] Oh, hey. There are marks where the studs go. [Which Steve probably already knows, but Pepper still says it anyway.]

[He did know, but still he nods easily and crouched down to the closest marked spot to put the stud in its place. And he also happens to notice Pepper's technique. While not bad, it could use a few pointers.]

Hey, do you need a hand with that?

[Much as he'd like to be working directly alongside the strongmen, Billy the magic twig is pretty useless with physical labour. Errands are the name of his game today, and after spending a little two much time watching his favourite blonds carry the materials around, he opts to get more involved rather than sit and stare like a creeping fanboy. ...Even if that's kind of what he is.

So when it starts to get extra hot, he heads over to Steve with a water bottle, offering it out with a smile.]

Special delivery! You look hot. [....] I mean, it is. Hot.

[Despite Steve's spectacular endurance, hours in the sun doing hard labor is enough for even him to start breaking a sweat. Pausing to take a breather, he lifts up the bottom of his shirt and uses it to wipe his face. And also give anyone looking a nice view of his abs.

He glances up when Billy come over and accepts the bottle with a grin, completely oblivious to Billy's slip.] You're right on both counts. It's hotter today than I expected.

3rd day of construction?

[Without having as many hours at the clinic due to a distinct lack of focus this week, Adele's had plenty of time to simply wander, read, and recoop. Will was out and it left his apartment quiet- so she decided to take a bit of a walk around community house four and found herself facing a construction site.

With Steve hefting about beams that are much larger than he is. It's impressive. For a moment she just watches the work progress, curious as to the direction of the project, before she approaches Steve when he's not busy.]

Afternoon Captain.

3rd day of construction?

[Steve takes his break in the shade of the trees and takes a long drink of water from the bottle he's holding. It's been a long afternoon but he's happy with what they've accomplished so far. Rome wasn't built in a day after all. Or so he's heard the saying go.

He's a happy kind of surprised when he looks up and sees Adele coming his way.]

Good afternoon, Adele. How have you been?

[snikting]

[Make that three. Rogue talked him into showing up too. And while Logan may not be one of the strongest ones here, his healing factor and adamantium skeleton affords him the ability to keep pace with Cap when it comes to the heavy lifting. Which he'll be doing as well, shirtless, sweaty, and hairy.

At some point after they put up the frame for one wall, he'll meet up with Steve, downing some water.]

Seems they're enjoying the show, Rogers.

[Steve is crouched down over some tools, sorting through them for what he needs. He's got his own shirt off, the tail of it stuffed into his back pocket. He glances up when Logan speaks.]

What? Who? [What show is he talking about?]

[Teddy arrives hand in hand with Billy, and the two make a beeline to Pepper to see what all needs to be done, and what their individual roles are. There will be other pleasantries, of course, as well as greeting anyone else who's there.

Later when they separate, Teddy gets to work. He's the second of the two to have super strength, so he's doing a lot of the heavy lifting with ease, resting a beam on his shoulders or holding one in place while someone hammers away at it. If anyone needs above average strength and... well, hasn't called on Steve for reasons Teddy cannot fathom, then he's the guy for you.

It feels good to be contributing. He's a Young Avenger, he likes to give back to the community and help whoever needs it.]

[Pepper waves to Teddy and Billy when they get there. She's got a table set up with plans and sketches laid out, so people can see the ultimate design she's got in mind. There's also a list of tasks, although when it comes to actual assignments Pepper's winging it a bit. She wants to get an idea of everyone's ability--not just their superpowers, but any actual construction experience they might have.]

Good morning. Ready to get started?

Ready as I can be. [Once Teddy makes it to the table, he'll let go of Billy's hands to lay them on the table and look over the plans. Before things get started, though, he'll smile at her.] These look really good, Pepper. How long have you been thinking about doing this?

[Boredom does things to a person; waiting around and doing very little except watching has not helped, particularly when certain people on the construction team are downright distracting. He's spent enough time staring by now that it's occurred to him that he might end up catching their attention with no excuse for it, so he did the only sensible thing someone like him could do: he pulls out his sketchbook and gets to work.

Well, are they building an art gallery or not? Might as well create some exhibits. Even as he sketches, though, something isn't quite right...

His gaze zeroes in on Teddy. Ah, that's the problem.]

Hey, T! Feel like being a model on top of a gruntman?

[Aaaand maybe sex has bumped his shamelessness up a notch. Whoops.]

[The downside of having magic for a special power is that when it comes to building and heavy lifting, he's pretty useless. It's not like he has noodle-arms or anything - he still works out - but compared to a suit of armor and two guys with super-strength, someone his size just sort of gets in the way half the time. His magic can do a lot of filling-in-the-blanks, but he can't poof an entire building into existence.

As a result, Billy's taken to running errands for the group while he waits for the main structure to be built- flying up above to give them a bird's-eye view of the work-in-progress, offering advice for how level the walls are, moving materials, and fetching drinks. He'd tried helping with the actual construction a couple of times, but that had resulted in either broken materials or sore fingers, and he'd crept back to the sidelines again. A handy-man he definitely is not.

Once the main structure is put together, however, it's his turn to shine. He'll happily get right in the action, reinforcing the walls with enchantments, manifesting display cases, helping with the decor, moving furniture. His magic is versatile enough that he can do basically whatever job is required inside the building. You know. Once there is one.]

Hey, Billy!

[Rogue glanced up from where she was hammering in the frame, and wiped some sweat off her forehead.]

Could I get some more nails?

[handing]

[Pepper's in much the same boat as Billy; although she tries, she doesn't have strength or skill to match the others involved. She ends up on the sidelines pretty often, giving her the opportunity to watch the others at work.]

Hey. How's your hand? [Pepper had seen one of Billy's attempts at tool-using. It hadn't been pretty. She's got a clipboard, and is jotting down notes even as she asks.]

[Yeah, he's here, too. As a much as he'd like to be the one of the porch drinking lemonade after "delegating" to the others, he's ended up part of the construction crew as well.

Along with two super-strength people and one magician. That makes him the normal one. He doesn't like being the normal one.]

So fine, he'll help out, even willingly, but don't expect him to be all sunshine about it. He gets a feeling he'll be getting the 12% this time, anyway.]

[Oh Tony, don't be a grouch. Even if he's the normal one, he's making Pepper incredibly happy by doing this. Which shows in how she smiles when she brings over two bottles of water.]

Ready for a break? [She holds out a bottle to him, keeping the other for herself.]

[Rogue caught wind of this little project and roped Logan into helping citing a variety of reasons. Solidarity. Good will. Boredom.

So she showed up, dressed for work, with a used tool belt slung over her hips. Her hair was pulled up into three little ponytails in order get it off her neck, her make-up was light and natural except for what was still very red lipstick.]

So who's got the blueprints to this thing?

That would be me! [Always glad for extra help, Pepper smiles as she makes her way over. Like Rogue, she's come prepared to work, and the casual outfit she wears definitely contrasts with her typical business attire.]

Hey. Thank you. [Pepper leads Rogue over to a table where the plans are laid out, along with sketches of the final design.]

This is it. Nothing too complicated, I think.

[Logan is there too. Rogue talked him into it. Benefit of having him around? Well besides the fact he can carry about as much as Captain America can and having a nearly unlimited pool of stamina, his claws are more efficient and precise than any saw they could have brought along. So whenever there's wood to be cut, Logan will be doing so with a single claw in one quick slide.

He's also working with his shirt off, being too hot to do otherwise. Contrary to his icon, his chest and arms are pretty damn hairy.

He's not always watching what he's doing, so when he's tossing tiny pieces of wood behind him, he might uh. Hit someone walking by. Don't expect him to feel sorry for it.]

[At some point, Rogue pointedly places a garbage can by where Logan's working.]

[Luckily Pepper has already had the opportunity to get used to seeing Logan with his shirt off. She's even getting used to the claws by this point.

Wood pieces hitting her in the head? Not so much.]

You might want to work on your aim a bit. [Or bother to aim in the first place. Something along those lines. Pepper crouches down to pick up the stray piece.]

CONSTRUCTION DAY Four aka: the ogling post

[So now it's mostly down to heavy lifting. Heavy lifting Rogue could help with, if she took a tap from Logan, but. You know what? She's just going to sit down right here.

And have some lemonade.

It really is such a shame that the boys feel like doing this shirtless.

[Lemonade sounds fantastic, actually. And since Pepper has no choice but to stay out of all things involving heavy lifting, she's more than happy to join Rogue to watch.

And technically, it falls squarely in the realm of supervising. Pepper's making sure that none of the handsome, shirtless men hurt themselves as they work.

Which explains why she's paying such close attention.]
