Summary: Apep, an Egyptian god of Chaos, possessed Helios and wrecked havoc. Those involved are going to have to cope with their injuries, mental traumas, and newfound night terrors!
Rating: R, for possible trigger warnings for descriptions of violence and bad language.

[Wordlessly, Luke lays his hand on Sabriel's shoulder, Force Healing rippling between them and alleviating at least some of her pain. Her body would heal faster, the power speeding cellular regrowth.]

I hope...you aren't in too much pain. I'm sorry to see you like this.

[He can blame himself as much as she likes- but Adele isn't having it. She pushes away from the kitchen table and walks over, forcing him to look her in the eye.]

[Her stern voice is tinged with curiosity now.]

Do you remember what happened? In my house. And [She gestures towards the bandages on Sabriel's wrists] how you got those?

Why? Does it have something to do with costumed super-heroes, like Stark and Billy Kaplan?

This is nothing I do not deserve.

[Slowly her tension fades under Luke's touch. For a moment she glances up at him, lips parted to speak but...she dips her head and says nothing. It takes her a minute before she can sort her thoughts and control her emotions before she speaks.]

Do you know what happened?

[ The kiss does scare him further, as his posture stiffens and curls a bit inward with the act. It's strange to have someone be compassionate to him about this sort of thing. When back home all he ever got was ostracized and hurt and pain. Someone who cares about his mistake and curse and pain and doesn't blame him for it. She was like Ra in that way if nothing else than being a deity. He feels that energy dull the ache in his joints but the pain in his damaged soul remains. It's...helpful and he's utterly grateful that he didn't receive Saori's wrath.

He just feels so frustrated about everything. He lets out a small shaky sigh and nods. He doesn't take the offered hand, he isn't that well to do so yet. Instead he cringes slightly and shakes his head, getting up by himself. He wobbles a little as he does so and moves away from Saori as if afraid to move into her space. He's probably going to not be around people for awhile, maybe forcing himself might make it better, but no he shouldn't go into isolation should he? He wasn't a danger...not with the seal but he still felt awful. And there was always the ever present fact that it could break... ] I-I will, immediately.

[ He winces at that. So he can't go into hiding and seclusion? You're making this difficult for him Saori. ] Y-Yes of, of course.

[ He looks at her with a small bit of reverence, something of the same look he gave Ra all those years ago when he saved him from Apep. ] I-I'll do anything I-I can for you. Y-You don't even have to ask...

[ Gods, no, of course she didn't. The fact that she did was rather ridiculous. Helios will do anything she asks of him because he's indebted to her more than he can ever possible conceive. ]

[She knew she loved it!

--but, in seriousness...]

I passed out after you distracted him. [Helios. Apep. He didn't care to say either name.] So, I'm sketchy on the details. What all happened to you?

Not to you. Enlighten me, my friend.

[He leads her to a secluded bench, his hand guiding her whether she likes it or not. There is no taint in her, at all. And that leaves him wondering...]

[Sabriel closes her eyes hangs her head, the memories flashing behind her eyelids- the burst of wood, the blood oh god the blood and...fire. When she speaks her voice sounds worn, ragged and so tired.]

...I remember.

[She nods curtly, taking out a weather and time worn book. If he can read traditional Chinese, it's labeled as The Book of the Fallen. Turning to a page, she inspects it and nods again to herself.]

Sealing Apep has sapped much of my energy. I will need to bind my spirit to this land, else I risk this form coming undone should my energy deplete fully. It isn't as simple for me as it is for you humans.

I need to perform a ritual in the forest, and during that ritual I will be unable to move from the eye of a storm I am going to create for one week. I will need you, thrice daily, to bring me food and water. Rice, seaweed, simple things. No meat save fish.

[And the hard part]

And I will need you to pray in penitence. Hold me in your mind, think positively of me. Send me your well-wishes, so that I might draw power from them and complete the ritual.

[Itachi just shakes his head. No apologies are needed from either of them.]

We all have similar goals here. It isn't any trouble.

[From her pocket, Rei takes out a familiar looking pen.]

[She closes her own eyes, and sighs, preparing to share something very, very important and also harsh.]

That precious person is here. Sailor Moon. My housemate, Usagi Tsukino.

[Perhaps it's better not to have them at this point. What she's seen, what she's being told- she's entirely out of her depth here. And yet not at all made uncomfortable by that fact because she's come to trust and deeply respect this woman. Goddess. Woman.]

The plot is centered around the costumed super hero. The one from which all others sprang, more or less.

Do you think...it would be good to watch to cheer people up? I've never heard of the character. But from the back of the box. Flight, speed, strength? Sounds like an inspirational person.

[Having explained this to Ben once already- having more or less discussed it with Luke and Saori has helped her learn how to phrase this.]

He reached into my mind and forced me to experience everything I have ever feared. And it hasn't stopped.

I'm given to understanding that it is, in fact, a Chaos God's fault, and not yours Lupin. I can manage. You should rest.

[Luke bows politely, guessing by the man's name that he's Japanese or some variation there of]

[Damn it Luke, why do you have to be so kind? Sabriel doesn't have the heart or the strength to fight his lead so she shuffles quietly over to the bench and takes a seat. Once Luke is seated beside her she beings, her voice pitched in a low murmur.]

Mr. Dresden had warned me that Mr. Sprensonne was possessed. It had attacked him, and then later that day it attacked Red and Adele and the other tenant from your house. I tried to stop him but I couldn't...and when I failed, he changed me.

[That caught his attention too quickly, and his brows furrowed in agitation. Arm be damned, he wanted to find that dark god and do the deed himself.

It was impossible, he knew. Lupin took a deep, calming breath.]

...shit. That? Shit. How are you handling it?

[A gentle squeeze of the hand follows a knowing grin. Now comes the next part in the strange dance all Kami do with mortals.]

Why don't you share your truth with me, dear? Tell me a secret.

Typically when I lock up and my eyes glaze over it's because I'm not. Here. I'm wherever it is those visions take me. If I was only seeing it that would be one thing. I could endure it. But I hear everything, I smell it. I can feel my hands slick with blood that belongs to you or Luke or Ben and you're all dying and I can't stop it-

[She scrubs her face with her hands, shoulders locking up and she shudders. Lost for a few seconds and for the first time- it's not a shadowy figure doing violence to someone she cares for. The blood's on her hands not for her inability to save them, but because she's the one that's cut into them. Left them to die. And watched.]
