Chaos Plot Reactions!

Who: Anyone/Everyone affected by Helios' nasty bout of Possession Sickness
What: Picking up the pieces
When: August 11th/12th
Where: Wherever there was bad mojo!
Summary: Apep, an Egyptian god of Chaos, possessed Helios and wrecked havoc. Those involved are going to have to cope with their injuries, mental traumas, and newfound night terrors!
Rating: R, for possible trigger warnings for descriptions of violence and bad language.

I don't have much...and I won't be moving everything over. It's just until I can...until this is gone. Until I'm well.

[Admitting that she wasn't quite right was more difficult than she'd anticipated. How was she to work like this? To focus? She can't even sleep without enduring a variable cycle of strangeness.

For the moment she sets it aside. Rests her cheek against Lupin's shoulder and murmurs.]

...did you scream when you saw the squid?

[Lupin fell silent, remembering those myriad days spent in the Catholic schools he attended as a kid, with the heavy scent of chalk dust and the intimidating bark of the old nuns. Prayer was a custom then, something a person did as a means of fitting in with the norms of the culture and establishment. Though a decent, if rambunctious student, he never bought any of it. He rode along mindlessly, waiting until his next chance to slip off campus and explore.]

...You know? I haven't even pretended to pray since I was a lad. It's odd to think about. But, if it's you?

That shouldn't be a problem.

If you keep apologizing I'm keeping Luminair.

[The closest thing to humor she can manage at the moment. Teasing. Low. It isn't much and she knows it but this has gone sour so very quickly. She just wants to talk. About...anything. Nothing. Tea, books, Helios' work in his own world. Anything but Apep.]

Maybe just a little clever.

[She snorts a laugh.]

[In her state? That could very well be a while. Adele, while resilient, wasn't known for handling stress well--and this took the cake. He held her quietly, and offered a small laugh at her question.]

You know? I wanted to--but couldn't when I saw Grune's face. She's such a gentle person that I hate seeing her upset. I ended up laughing instead, because it was so absurd.

...

She knows. She knows everything, as best as she can.

[She giggles, one hand reaching up to finger her mirrored locket]

Oh, my fellows...would mock you most loudly for that. I'm considered something of an oddity among my kind.

S-Sor- [ He stops in his apology his tone never once changing to something joking or teasing. He slumps a bit more in his posture. That's not terribly fair using Luminair like that. He doesn't say anything else and the silence is overbearing and oppressive in how quickly it encompasses everything, almost like the silence that fell over house 44 and house 46 a few days before.

But he doesn't really know what to say. ]

[She figured he was something of a non-believer]

Just hold me in your mind, and think positive thoughts. Thats all that I need to draw...call it sustenance.

You seem ... very... eager about all of this. Did something happen? You weren't kidnapped again, were you?

[Raine will first try and sit herself up a little better before accepting the tea, though she's quiet for the moment until she's in a better position to accept it.

And she'll answer, once she's managed a sip.]

... yes. He wasn't himself; that was very clear.

[Well he doesn't want to appear TOO eager.]

I figured the contradictory elements would either delay or alter your reaction entirely. I'm only disappointed I couldn't see it for myself.

[It twists a laugh out of her, that thought. After everything that's happened, she more or less had something to cheer him up he was in dire need of delivered. There couldn' be a better time for Grune to have brought the squid.]

...I was vague when she asked because it wasn't mine to tell. And I did not want to upset her.

Then I'll look forward to your kind thoughts. I...should prepare the ritual though. I will speak with you soon, I hope.

Let them mock. There is at current only one god who's opinion I care to have remain high of me, and I'm fairly certain I've nothing to worry about in that respect.

[Adele lifts a shoulder and sips her tea.]

Why are you considered odd?

Saori saw it too. She can give you the details.

[Another reason his reaction was shifted. Her and Law--he wasn't sure how the pirate would have reacted if he had jumped too high. He would always wonder about Grune, but thank whatever luck he had for her wisdom and oddly opportune sense of timing. Her smile could warm anyone's day.]

I told her during the Shift, when I ended up in her kitchen. She...damn near threatened the Malnosso in the way that only she can. When I told her that they couldn't be bargained with for a while...she understood. Somewhere in that sweet, fluffy head of her's, she understood.

Funny. I've known her since Christmas, but never thought to tell her anything about myself.

It's a poor habit to have, and one not easily broken. I know. But this I cannot and will not allow you to apologize for. You did not intend for this to happen. You are not at fault. No one blames you for this.

[She's stable. Centered in where and when she is now, more than enough to follow Helios and rest a hand on his back.]

Have tea with me before you pack, at least?

I-I knew about him. I-I just...I didn't know that he c-could, he could do that to me. He never t-told me that this c-could happen. [ There's a small tone of betrayal in his voice. It's a pained and hurt and confused tone because he doesn't understand why Ra never told him this.

He flinches at the hand on his back and moves away ever so slightly. Another shaky release of breath. Tea with the woman he mentally tortured like that...it makes him sick to think about what he did. ] If-if you really want to.

[ The least he can do is respect her wishes and then leave and probably never speak to her again. It was probably better to leave on a neutral note right? ]

It's perfect.

[Sabriel wasn't expecting it to be easy, every job like this has its own set of worries and hardships but...at least it shouldn't involve any of the Dead.]

It may take me some time to change into the uniform as quickly as you do though.

She's a very sweet young woman, she's been nothing but kind to me ever since we met.

[Perhaps after she speaks with Rei...they could organize something for Ami.]

There is something...interesting about Grune that I don't have a word or explanation for. She's sweet but there feels as though there is more to her at times than that which we are able to see. I don't think about it overmuch- because she is kind, and sweet, and endlessly compassionate. having someone like her in the village, and among my friends, makes living here easier.

[Feeling a little more herself, Adele sits up straighter and sips her now lukewarm coffee.]

She's not one for secrets, I do not think. But it won't hurt to have her a little closer.

[She shakes her head, eyes lowered momentarily.]

I overestimated my abilities and now I must cope with the consequences.

[Not all of which are evident on her person. The physical and spiritual damage aside, there will also be repercussions from those she had attacked while corrupted. Rei, Grune...Viral.]

What about you? Were you hurt?

...There's far more to her than what you're thinking, Angel. Trust me on that.

[Because he saw it, a few months back. Her odd clarity, her dedication to righting all of the wrongs, her willingness to put herself on the front line to end the injustice that was committed by the Malnosso. He hadn't seen Grune like that ever before...and wondered if he ever would again.

He knew, instinctively, that Grune was potentially as powerful as Saori. Her anger was to be respected, and he was thankful that the occasions which that happened would be rare.]

...hate me for this later.

[He didn't care for physical contact. He wouldn't like this. And she really, truly shouldn't. But it's the only way she knows how to offer comfort of any sort. Adele steps around to the front Of Helios, forcing him to look at her. She hesitates for a moment, and only a moment.

Then she loops her arms around his waist and hugs him. It's loose, really, awkward for their height, tense because of Helios, and cold. Cold enough to force her to shudder- Apep's hand had been ice when he grabbed her- but no. Not that cold. It was Helios, her friend, someone she cares for and respects.]

I do want to have tea. I do want to keep you in this house- but I will not force you to stay. You're my friend Helios. I do not have so many I'd lose you happily.
