Summary: Huffy Young Master Nightray grows a year older. Technically.

[Leo had never been any good at celebrating birthdays. Sure, he knew that cake was a good idea, and gifts obligatory (spending a year in a house full of children clued him in on this, granted), but when it came to making preparations, it was simply easier to leave it to Gilbert . Not all of it, of course, just-- the most important bits.

That's why the preparations are kept simple-- Elliot really wasn't the kind for huge parties anyway and this seemed appropriate. ]

Oh, right, I guess you wouldn't remember her either... Well, this is Chuchu! She's not an animal like the ones around here though; she's a Pokémon. Specifically a Pikachu. [She gestures toward the mouse, who then takes the cue to wave up at Leo.]

He waves back a little at Chuchu when Chuchu waves at him. But makes no attempt to pet the tiny thing just yet.]

That's fascinating. What are Pokémon then?

Pokémon are basically like animals, I guess! From what I've seen, anyway... But they have some more abilities than they do and aren't as common in other worlds as animals are. Apparently they only exist in mine [and its parallels], so...

That's a pity. [But it's okay, he can read all about her!! It'll be fun, looking for a book on these-- Pokémon.] What can she do?

Well... She's an electric Pokémon, so she can use electric-based attacks. Like this.

[And then Chuchu will go ahead and let some light sparks come out of her cheeks. Yep.]

Leo steps back when the sparks starts (it's a really good thing he hadn't been curious enough to poke or pet it, he reckons) and— almost knocks over a table.

[Oh... whoops! Chuchu stops right away.]

Y-you okay...?

[It's a good thing he manages to grab it before it topples over!]

Perfectly fine. [Look, he's even smiling! You know, as he rights the table.] Chuchu isn't-- dangerous, is she?

[Shaking her head, and reaching over to help fix the table. oops.]

N-no, not at all! She's really friendly, actually. Like... you could try petting her, if you want!

[And zap himself with electricity? Not that he isn't curious (and let's face it, Leo's shit at taking care of himself when he's curious) but the only time he's seen that kind of uncontrolled electricity is...well, lightning. That has never been very safe.

...that being said, he'll cock his head to the side, eyeing Chuchu.]

She won't attack?

[Shaking her head again! Chuchu does the same.]

Nope, she won't! Right, Chuchu? [And the Pikachu nods. Totally safe, Leo!]

[Well then.

He'll reach out a hand and...pet Chuchu?! Or rather, it's a tentative touch at first because-- well, caution is always good.]

[Well hey, that's close enough to petting! Even if it is just tentative touching, Chuchu still looks pleased. She even nuzzles her head against Leo's hand a bit.]

[Oh.

Okay.

So he'll pet it— like how he probably pets Jack's kitten (you know, when he's not shoving it aside for getting in the way of him reading). Just keep those sparks to yourself, Chuchu.]

[But yeah, that's good, that's good. He withdraws his hand after Enough Pettings are done (because he isn't Elliot, he's more curious than enamoured) and looks up at Yellow with a smile.]

I bet the rest of my housemates would like her too.

[Yellow nods, smiling.]

Yeah, I think some of them do, at least. I know Jack does and... maybe Elliot and Gilbert do too. [well she's pretty sure they do but. y'know.]

[Well, he doesn't know about Gilbert, but...]

Elliot probably does.

[Well, Leo does know Elliot way more than Yellow does..!]
