Who: Members of House 53 + anyone close who may be invited. Ping any of us about this if interested, chances are we'll say yes anyway.
What: It's Elliot's birthday!
When: Backdated to the 8th.
Where: House 53. Gilbert's doing catering, after all.
Summary: Huffy Young Master Nightray grows a year older. Technically.
Rating:
[Leo had never been any good at celebrating birthdays. Sure, he knew that cake was a good idea, and gifts obligatory (spending a year in a house full of children clued him in on this, granted), but when it came to making preparations, it was simply easier to leave it to Gilbert . Not all of it, of course, just-- the most important bits.
That's why the preparations are kept simple-- Elliot really wasn't the kind for huge parties anyway and this seemed appropriate. ]
((Make your own threads, I guess! I think it's safe to say that everything is threadjackable.))

So Elliot treats it like a normal day, until he discovers that someone has worked twice as hard in the kitchen as usual, and when he figures out why that might be, he frowns. Stupid, he's pretty sure his birthdays don't even count anymore—
As a result, Elliot kind of just ends up grumping around the house most of the day.]
Be....fore dinner or cake time or whenever. \o/
If you keep stomping like that, you'll make a hole in the floor.
WHENEVER INDEED.
No one asked you.
Some time, okay. Details, details.
You're distracting.

[Like he's ever really cared about being loud or distracting.]

SO LATE
Although right now he's working on the birthday cake, so when he hears footsteps near the doorway he'll just try to ever so casually move so that he's standing where he almost completely blocks what he's working on from view. It also blocks a lot of the good light that way, but it's all right, he just doesn't want anyone to see this before it's time.]
Or maybe just really early for next year!
Dinner still isn't ready yet?
yeah, that's totally it
[As soon as he's finished with this cake, which having an audience makes more difficult. Gilbert glances briefly over his shoulder (he can almost feel that glare) but just returns to his work with a small shrug.]
I got started late. Are you too hungry to wait?
PERFECT.
[Not just wrong. Suspicious.]

...
...dammit, yes. Yes, it will. Elliot blinks when the cat falls into his lap and he has to try very hard not to seem so pleased. He's pretty sure she didn't jump into his lap on her own! So he looks around.
Is the culprit still nearby?]
no subject
Meanwhile, Mikan just purrs and rolls, making herself perfectly comfortable in said lap and ensuring that Elliot isn't going to be able to get up for a while.]

Can you blame me?

[Richard is quite skilled in the art of interpreting tsun, Elliot. You remind him a great deal of Hubert, albeit with a little more dere. Maybe.]

But yeah hi Yellow's here! And a little surprised to see that Leo is back and with long hair and glasses again, but whatever. She brought her Pokémon trio with her and is just going around to greet anyone she knows...! Oh, and of course, she has a sheet of paper in hand with yet another birthday drawing for Elliot on it. Yayayay.]
no subject
So when he sees Yellow, he makes his way over. Birthdays are still kind of embarrassing but she is his friend, so!]
Hey. Thanks for coming.
no subject
You're welcome! I'm just happy that I get to celebrate your birthday with you again. [heeee] Are you enjoying it so far?
no subject
Oh, thank god they're gone—Her first comment doesn't help his embarrassment, but he nods quickly anyway.]It's... fine. I wasn't expecting anything.

Hi, Leo! [sup]

But Leo is always polite, always pleasant, so he'll go ahead, raise a hand in greeting and smile.]
Hello.
[But there's no familiarity in that, it's like he's greeting someone whom he's never quite seen before.]

[HELLO THERE PARTNER-IN-CRIME. Jack is very happy (and not surprised at all) to see you here! Wow, Elliot has been making a lot of friends. Although, come to think of it, Jack thinks he recalls seeing her at Elliot's last party too...]

Hi, Jack!
no subject
[It's a bit of a rhetorical question, but since Elliot didn't really make a big deal about his birthday, it's also sort of an important one.]
