Sending out an SOS

When: August 29, Morning.
Where: The Farm.
Summary: The farm has been raided by the Kin'corians--Aid is needed STAT.

Attention Luceti.
Assistance is needed immediately at the farms to the northwest of the village. We have hostiles and--
[The oddly cool, clipped tone that the message was given suddenly breaks off into a heated bark.] Putain de merde!
[There's a rustle of pages and the sound of bodies colliding, followed more swearing in French.
The feed cuts out.

[...but, in spite of that, she straps her rapier to her hip and heads out, dashing the whole while.]

[He was used to manipulating crowds to do as he wished, but not having to protect anything when he did so. Lupin was standing on the fence surrounding Hamal the bantha, a recent and very valuable addition to Luceti, trying to get a crowd of newcomers to leave. By his side was a nerdy looking girl with wings that were red like his. Her arms were wrapped around his waist, as if she were clinging on for her life. Lupin himself was unphased, but was glad for the support.
Bryar pistol in hand-- discreetly set to it's stun setting-- he stood tall despite the sling that protected his right arm. His eyes were hard, his jaw was set.
This was no time to show weakness.]

[As she reaches them, she stands with her blade pointed at the closest of the group, anger burning in her gaze.]
Stand down and leave, lest I strain the ground with your blood.
[They don't move -- not at first. It's only when Syre moves closer, digging the very tip of the blade into the poor guy's shoulder, that some of them realize she's serious, and start backing away.]
Do you think I'm bluffing? Believe me, I'm not joking. I'll slay the lot of you in an instant, if need be.
no subject
"See? I told you guys that this was stupid!"
[Lupin pushed her back down with his arm.] Quiet, Veronica-chan. I've got this. [He leveled his Bryar at the crowd, playing up its status as a lethal weapon.]
If she doesn't take care of it, people? I will.
For the record, I've got the Lupin the 3rd theme stuck in my head
I would very strongly advise that you all back down. You don't want to make the both of us take action. [Her lips draw upward, into a confident -- almost too confident -- grin.] Because, trust me... I pull no punches, and I spare no one.
[A few murmurs of realization come from some of the ones in the far side of the group. Syre withdraws her blade, though she does not lower her stance.]
Go on. Get.
[The crowd backs up further, and, sure enough, a good number of them disperse. Those that haven't gone yet would make themselves scarce in a few moments.]
[Once the last of them turns to run, Syre sheathes her blade and turns to the thief.]
It seems I've arrived just in time. Besides your more obvious injuries, have you been harmed?
congrats :3
I'm fine. Mostly. These injuries are a few weeks old now.
[The young woman, grabbed for his good arm and whispered a question in his ear. A swift response sent her scurrying off, but not before she grabbed a nearby shovel to use for protection. Once Veronica was gone, Lupin regarded the woman once more.]
...So, who should I be thanking for your timely intervention.
Now I'll be stuck whistling it the whole night :3;
[Syre sighs, very clearly irritated.] These newcomers have been nothing but trouble since they've arrived. First, they attempt to raid my home; now, they're trying to attack people. Are they so selfish as to make life miserable for their hosts?
XD
He ran a hand through his all ready mussed hair, not even caring about how much it wrecked his image.]
You're not the only one--they raided my girlfriend's apartment. That is a feat, I must say.
...I think they're agitated and very lost, but they also just left a warzone. Such situations can make a person more violent than they normally would.
no subject
[...] Am I to assume that your girlfriend is knowledge in the ways of keeping things secure -- or at least, attempting to?
[Here she sighs again, pinching the bridge of her nose lightly.] Agitated though they may be, they need to understand that we are their shelter from the Third Party -- we are not the enemy.
no subject
My girl is an expert at defenses and protective measures, so I mean it when I say that they accomplished a feat. It's probably adrenaline that drove them. People can do some insane things when under the gun...
Again, mademoiselle. They came from a warzone, and they expect this to be just as bad.

[She's silent a moment, then takes a deep, steady breath. Something tells her she'll need to be as calm as she can before things get any worse.]
In that case, we should steel ourselves for anymore outrages of this nature. [...] Or, at the very least, I should, considering your state.
I haven't given properly introduced myself yet. My name is Syre. [She'd offer a hand for him to shake, but the one that's not in a sling is holding the Bryar.]
no subject
[It was true, but he didn't feel like explaining at that point in time.] Regardless, it would be wise to stay on alert. We don't know what's going to happen. [He nodded out of politeness to Syre.]
Enchante, Syre.
no subject
Staying alert is the best we can do, truthfully. If all else fails... [She motions to the blade on her hip.] Intimidation appeals to the senses much quicker than trying to negotiate.
Now, what other issues are there to face, sir? Surely this gathering here was not the only major point of conflict.

Lupin switched his Bryar off of Condition 0 and holstered it, his body language as brisk as his voice. This was business, no more and no less.]
They're here because they want food, but the only crops that we have are the fruit orchards which are not yet fully ready to harvest. We planted a few short term crops recently, but they're at risk of being trampled.
...We also have a giant beast of burden out here, known as a bantha. They're sometimes used as a food source on their home world, and that is the last thing we want to happen to him.
no subject
And of course, the one situation in which my abilities would be most useful is during a time when they are severely limited... [The power dampening ensures that any alchemy she would attempt would put great amounts of strain on her body. The energy she would expend would be far greater than any results produced.]
[On the other hand, if she could boost the growth of the crops, it would solve quite a few problems, the most pressing of which was likely the cause for all of this in the first place.]
[It's a very great risk to take -- one that would normally have her second-guessing her sanity. But these were desperate times, and risks had to be taken, right?]
...however, I might still be useful. [The sentence is more muttered to herself than it is said aloud. However, not long after she looks at Lupin, and speaks again.]
I've got an idea. It's a very high-risk, high-reward sort of idea. But if it works as well as I think it would, it might just fix a large portion of our problems.
['...and if it doesn't, I'll likely die again, but the chance must be taken.']
no subject
..Intriguing. I'm listening.
[Because he's not taking that gamble without more information.]
no subject
[Syre takes a deep breath. She hasn't had a chance to properly explain the nature of Ecliptian alchemy yet -- not to anyone besides Eggman, at least, and even then he got a very much dumbed-down version.]
[Once she's got her thoughts in order, she begins.]
Where I come from, there are many individuals that show particular aptitude for manipulating objects, elements, even other organic things. We call these individuals 'alchemists'.
Alchemists manipulate things by projecting their own energy -- their lifeforce, if you would -- into whatever their target is. This target is usually marked with something referred to as a 'rune', and whatever is connected to the target is also connected to the alchemist.
[It's at that point that Syre realizes proper explanations would take time than they have. So, with that in mind, she moves on.]
To put it somewhat simply, while my alchemy is extremely limited at present, I can still channel my lifeforce through the earth, and to some of the crops. If I can accelerate their growth, even a little, then perhaps something good will come out of it.
no subject
Syre. [His voice was still crisp, but with an edge.] That's good and all, but this is neither the time nor the place--and it's not my call. Maybe when these Kin'corans are gone and the power limits are lifted, but it's too risky right now.
You might need that skill to save yourself before the night's up.
no subject
[...wait.]
[...wasn't she the one usually steering away from things that were too risky?]
[There's a flicker of something in her expression -- confusion or some sort of disturbance, perhaps -- before she takes a slow breath.]
What do you suppose is the best course of action, then?
no subject
Get out there personally and try to coordinate with the people who are trying to protect this place. We need to spread out, not cluster, and try to quell the threat. People are not going to be on their journals.
...we also should try not to use lethal force unless we no longer have a choice. They're just like this village was years ago, and they're very distrusting of everything right now.
no subject
Let's hope that the next time we meet, it's under less serious circumstances.
[She salutes Lupin, then turns and heads off in search of anything she could help with.]
