Prescribed Recreation part 3: Chillax'n with a Vengeance

Who: House 44, House 46, House 3, Saori, Steve Rogers, and whoever wanders in
What: Movie night on the beach
When: September 9th, in the evening
Where: The Beach
Summary: After an unfortunate tussle with a Chaos God, work on a farm, a swarm of refugees and stress piled upon stress, sometimes all anyone wants is to sit back and watch classic movies.
Rating: PG for possible adult language
Something that everyone could agree on was this: the past three weeks had been several shades of stressful. What they needed, what they all needed was something mindless and relaxing shared in the company of those they care for in a neutral environment. The beach works well enough, and it's not that far a trip for anyone involved.

I'm much better than last time we talked, with Ami-chan back. The refugees kept me busy too, guarding places and keeping the peace as best I could.

[He nods, remembering how hairy things had gotten]

Speaking of medical staff, if its all the same to you, I'll keep helping out around the town clinic between my other responsibilities as well.

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-06 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
It's perfectly fine with me. [The town clinic is Ami's; her word was the one that mattered.] Although, since you intend to keep active in the clinics, I wonder if you'd be interested in helping me with one of my ongoing projects.
thefinaljedi: (Looking official)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-06 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, what would you need my help with?

[He's been doing medical projects of his own]
deathsdoctor: (Neutral | contemplative)

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-06 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, one of the things I do is ensure emergency medical supplies and other necessities are stockpiled and built up. Between the hurricane and the refugees, those stores have been completely wiped out.

The more people helping out building the stores, the better. It keeps things running smoother, and the more people who actually know what we have in a crisis makes communication at least a lot easier.
thefinaljedi: (Don't you do it)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-06 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, I can help you keep inventory, and build up stockpiles. Where have you been storing them?

[He's been doing that with wood and some supplies himself]

It is better, having more people informed of things like this. The potential for crisis is really rather omnipresent.

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-06 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dry.] And realizes a couple of times a year, seems like.

The Battle Dome. We usually don't have that full a house in there, so we've been storing supplies in the back rooms we don't use much and piling things to the rafters. We do need someplace a little better that's dedicated to them. It was discussed in the town meeting back in the beginning of the year, but unfortunately nothing came out of what was talked of yet.
thefinaljedi: (I am a Jedi)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-06 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
So it seems.

[Luke nods]

Well, I'll certainly help stock up. I've noticed the town clinic is usually a bit more full than the Battle Dome, so I understand that. It could also be within our power to construct a storage facility as well. It isn't like we don't have the space for it.

[He shrugs]
deathsdoctor: (Neutral | Thoughtful)

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-06 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be much appreciated, Mister Luke.

Plenty of space. As we were well reminded.
thefinaljedi: (Dorksmile)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-06 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, you could just call me Luke right?

[A faint chuckle]

Where do you think we should put it?
deathsdoctor: (Curious + Neutral | Pondering this)

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-07 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Alright... Luke... [He laughs a little.] I'm afraid you'll have to excuse me there. I had that beaten into me when I was younger.

[Literally.]

Hmm... some place where people can easily access it... so near town, but not too near a river. It would be no good if the supplies are flooded out. A hill, perhaps? But stable ground, definitely. Not over the tunnels.
thefinaljedi: (Nice Guy)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-07 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, we could place it near the Barracks, I suppose. That would seem a logical place to put it. It's near enough to town, but not under the tunnels if I remember the layout correctly.
deathsdoctor: (Neutral | Thoughtful)

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-07 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That area would probably be best. It would also be near the teleporters if we have to evacuate the town for any reason.
thefinaljedi: (Relax Han)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-07 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Absolutely. Something we can start on next week I suppose.

Actually, there's something I've been working on in the clinic in town as well. I've been trying to synthesize various chemicals from my home. I've had some success with it, particularly with stims.
deathsdoctor: (Neutral | contemplative)

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-07 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? How've you been going about it?

[People make herbal medicines all the time here, but this is the first time he's heard of someone going that route.]
thefinaljedi: (Nice Guy)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-07 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Its simple enough, most medicines from my world are really just combinations of chemical compounds. There's enough basic equipment in the clinic. I just requested a few of the base ingredients from points earned on missions, and mixed them up. Its basic education back home, really.

[Coming from a society like he did, it was pretty simple]
deathsdoctor: (Pleasant | Peaceful)

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-07 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[... basic education...?

He'll take your word for it. For a society that sailed the stars, maybe pharmacology really was a grade school science.]

I see. I'd be very interested in taking a look at that. We're pretty dependant on medication and other remedies provided by the Malnosso for the most part, aside from the medicines some of the healers here create, so I'm always interested in seeing alternatives.
thefinaljedi: (Trust Me)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-07 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Luke actually nods and produces a vial of reddish liquid from his belt.]

Have a look, then. This isn't really much of a medicine, more a stimulant , but its the only thing I've really attempted to synthesize. Its called Haladreshin, and acts as a sort of focusing stimulant. Jedi occasionally use it to temporarily boost sensitivity to the Force, or recover a lost connection.

It works just fine, I've used it here once, during the hurricane, and treated a patient with it in the aftermath of that Chaos God attacking. Raine Sage had no problems with it.

What would be nice is if we could get a supply of Bacta. That would do wonders for the village.
deathsdoctor: (Pleasant | It's mutually beneficial)

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-09 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
[So interesting and potentially useful! So it boosts psychic conductivity? Law could see many helpful applications for that.]

Fascinating. I would love to read more about it if you can ever find the literature on it. [The parts of the brain it focused on, its chemical structure, etc, etc. The doctor in him is quite happily intrigued.] And if you're willing to show me how you make it, I would appreciate that as well.

... what is Bacta, may I ask?
thefinaljedi: (Looking official)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-09 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't found literature yet, unfortunately. It was something I learned to make from Master Sunrider's holocron, and if that turns up here I'll have a lot more to study. [He hopes Law remembers Nomi]

And of course, I'll happily show you how to make it. The chemicals involved are pretty common too.

[Luke tucks it back into his belt]

Bacta is a miracle medicine. Its a reddish fluid, and when one is submerged in it it rapidly speeds healing, purges most diseases, and can even prevent scarring and unnecessary amputation.
deathsdoctor: (Neutral | huh (glance back))

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-10 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh yes, Law remembers Nomi. Seeing spirit possession tends to stick with you.]

That is much appreciated.

[And then Luke describes Bacta and Law pause. Then whistles lowly. Wow. Impressive.]

That does sound like it would be handy to have around.
thefinaljedi: (Brooding)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-10 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Wars are fought over the stuff. Shame I can't replicate it, but maybe the Malnosso would provide it if I requested it through their mission system.

[Thinking, thinking...]

I'll swing by your office...tomorrow, and show you how to make the Haladreshin. How familiar are you with chemistry?
deathsdoctor: (Neutral | Thoughtful)

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-10 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Given the implications raised by him agreeing to find and administer a cure for the children of Punk Hazard...]

Quite familiar. I am decently proficient with pharmacology.
thefinaljedi: (Looking official)

[personal profile] thefinaljedi 2012-09-10 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes things easier then. I'll see you after lunch tomorrow, alright?
deathsdoctor: (Neutral | look back with a smile)

[personal profile] deathsdoctor 2012-09-11 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright. I look forward to it.
