Prescribed Recreation part 3: Chillax'n with a Vengeance

Who: House 44, House 46, House 3, Saori, Steve Rogers, and whoever wanders in
What: Movie night on the beach
When: September 9th, in the evening
Where: The Beach
Summary: After an unfortunate tussle with a Chaos God, work on a farm, a swarm of refugees and stress piled upon stress, sometimes all anyone wants is to sit back and watch classic movies.
Rating: PG for possible adult language
Something that everyone could agree on was this: the past three weeks had been several shades of stressful. What they needed, what they all needed was something mindless and relaxing shared in the company of those they care for in a neutral environment. The beach works well enough, and it's not that far a trip for anyone involved.

[Saori lifts her arm up and reaches down to gently scratch the little dragon. He was such a lovely little creature, after all]

I still appreciate it. You make wonderful soup, Helios.

[ Luminair purrs affectionately when Saori does that. Helios laughs a bit sheepishly at the compliment. It's not everyday that he manages to get a god's approval. ] O-Oh you, you really thought so?

[ He rubs the back of his neck. ] I'm...glad you liked it.

I did eat all of it, of course I liked it.

[She smiles down at Luminair, running one finger down this cheek and lightly tweaking his nose]

It helped immensely. And with the power-cap gone, I can replenish my energy stores.

[ Luminair lets out a little chirp as he nips gently at Saori's finger. ] That's good to hear. Th-this is just the thing people need to, um, r-relax after all the craziness these last few weeks.

[ The beach is nice and the breeze is ever so pleasant to fight off the heat. ]

[Luminair's teeth don't even scratch her, in fact he may want to refrain from doing that or risk hurting himself. Either way, she barely notices, and just keeps scratching him.]

I think so too. Films are wonderful, and I've made sure the weather is perfect. So, if it gets too warm please let me know.

[ He stops when Helios gives him a light 'tut' and instead lets Saori continue her ministrations. He'll purr and chirp happily as she continues, his tail swaying in accompaniment of his wings stretching too. ]

Oh. N-No it's, it's quite lovely out. It's been rather hot these last few weeks. The ocean breeze is quite nice, actually.

[Saori takes a cue from Luminair's book and actually stretches her wings a bit too, the hateful appendages twitching in the breeze, but she doesn't stop petting the little guy]

It has been warm, but I think the temperature is just right for an outdoor gathering. Do you...enjoy films Helios?

[ The cool ocean breeze is certainly welcome and Helios lets out a subdued sigh as he closes his eyes briefly to take it in. He cracks open one eye at that question, and then looks a bit sheepish. ] I, ah, I-I don't really watch them...often. [ At all. ]

B-But I did get to see a few before. Star Wars it was called...it was quite fascinating. [ Especially since Luke and Obi-Wan were there watching a small fraction of their lives on screen. ] D-Do you watch them then?

I do not usually watch them, no. [She smiles sheepishly] Sometimes I emit strange energies, and televisions and things do not work around me. I'm not sure why, though.

But! [She sounds excited] Yuuna, my friend at home, she took me to a Drive-In a few times. It was interesting, but the screen was far away so I didn't damage it.

Th-that makes sense, actually. [ A sheepish laugh as he remembers that, yes, she is a goddess of weather and lightning. ]

Oh, really? I've never been to one myself, but it does sound interesting. I-I suppose it'll be a little bit like, um, what we're doing tonight. [ Minus the screen entirely and Helios would be right. ]

Yuuna...hm. She's a...mortal then? O-Or a goddess like yourself? [ It was quite intrigue to here about the similarities between worlds. Mortals and gods living together. It's rather nice, actually. ]

Yuuna? Oh, have I not told you about her?

[Saori laughs, the same sort of sheepish grin on her face from before]

She's my best friend, at home. A dear companion and a truly beloved person in my life. [There's an indication in her voice that Yuuna may be far more than important, her eyes misting over like one talking about a lover]

She is not a god. She was a human, that I made immortal. Which means that she isn't human anymore, I suppose.

Oh no I don't think you mentioned her b-before. [ Helios looks over at Saori with a smile. ] I-I see she, ah, sounds lovely. I-I wish I could meet her in person. [ Helios looks over with a quirked brow. ]

You...made her i-immortal? I-I never knew gods could do such a thing.

Well...not all gods.

[She smiles sheepishly]

I struck a deal with Gama, the Lord of Longevity. He made her immortal. For me to do it myself, I would have to give up my own immortality.

Gama, hm. I've heard of him but...I've never actually spoken with him before. It was...very kind of him to, ah, grant her that.

[ Helios isn't sure if he would ever accept such an offer himself, but different ideals for different people. ]

It was a deal that I struck with him. I...hated the idea of losing a loved one, and offered him a trade.

A-A trade? Ah. I-I see. You d-don't have to, um, explain anymore if you don't like. But that's a very n-nice story. [ Helios gives a small hum. ]

It must be strange to go from being mortal to immortal.

I don't mind sharing. The trade was for a look into my mirror. [She touches her locket lovingly] It let him see some of my memories. Gama...is also the Lord of Memory, so...it intrigued him.

[She nods]

It is strange, Apotheosis. It feels...tingly. Like too much wine.

A look into you mirror...that stores all your memories, correct? [ Probably from before when she was human then. ]

You're, um, the first person I've met to h-have actually made that transition. It's rather fascinating. It must be strange, having your memories in that mirror.

My mirror contains my soul, Helios, not just my memories. But yes, it contains the memories of my human life, and my first few centuries. It's...overwhelming, even for a god. And the mirror...it contains the memories of my tutor, the one that granted me Apotheosis.

[ Helios' eyes widen as he regards Saori. ] I can only imagine. H-Having so much knowledge and-and memories to hold inside of you...even for a goddess that would be hard. I've heard of p-people storing their memories in things before, in my world. But it's hard and dangerous to do. The spell is...erratic at best and the outcome a dangerous one should it go wrong.

The Rite of Quicksilver isn't meant for mortal minds, no. I could see where such a thing would be hard for a human.

But yes, it isn't...good to retain such a press of memory.
