Prescribed Recreation part 3: Chillax'n with a Vengeance

What: Movie night on the beach

Where: The Beach
Summary: After an unfortunate tussle with a Chaos God, work on a farm, a swarm of refugees and stress piled upon stress, sometimes all anyone wants is to sit back and watch classic movies.
Rating: PG for possible adult language
Something that everyone could agree on was this: the past three weeks had been several shades of stressful. What they needed, what they all needed was something mindless and relaxing shared in the company of those they care for in a neutral environment. The beach works well enough, and it's not that far a trip for anyone involved.

[Sidestepping their usual banter.]

You are worried, aren't you.

"I..."

[He sighs.]

"... I simply don't wish for anything to happen to you."

[fleurdesel]

...I know. [She reaches out to curl her fingers in his, holding onto him much as she had before she'd been torn away a few months ago.]

You, Luke, Steve, and Saori are here. There is also a Dragon in attendance- I think I will be safe.

[averybadfeeling]

[The hand links with hers almost absently at this point, and he chuckles.]

"I suppose you're right. Don't mind me, I've become a silly old man before my time."

[fleurdesel]

[She blinks down at their hands for a moment, remembering that vision.

It is love, Adele-san.

And Ben had seemed content. She'd seemed happy enough as well and...she'll think more on it later. Adele lifts a shoulder and looks back up to Ben with a half smile.]

Then perhaps you should take steps to feel and appear younger to counteract the effects, yes?

[averybadfeeling]

"If I did that, I would no longer have a prerogative to be grumpy and severe."

[fleurdesel]

Because, of course, that makes up the entirety of your persona and is something to be clung to no matter how much those around you say that you really ought to 'loosen up.'

[averybadfeeling]

"Oh, honestly. I am hardly without a sense of humor."

[fleurdesel]

[Ben.

Ben, honestly.

You are deliberately baiting me for your own amusement.

[averybadfeeling]

"Also for yours, in fairness."

[He can't help but crack a grin.]

"It cannot be healthy to take things so seriously, Adele. Perhaps you should loosen up."

[fleurdesel]

...

[Adele steps away and crosses her arms, peering up at Ben in all due seriousness. She considers her next course of action very, very carefully. Forces a glower.]

Ben.

[Low. Tight. Irritated.





And then she leans up on her toes, slim fingers darting forward to boop the tip of his nose.]

You are such a silly man.

[averybadfeeling]

[Blink. Blink blink.

... And then, after a moment, he's laughing again, one of his rare, full laughs.]

[With that her glare falls away into a smile as she revels in Ben's laughter. He really should laugh more often.

...

Rei wasn't at all off the mark on her half. Oh well. Adele shrugs it off in favor of patting Ben's cheek.]

Less silly when you laugh.

[averybadfeeling]

"I laugh often."

[He considers this, then amends,]

"Not... as fully or openly as that, I'll admit."

[fleurdesel]

You chuckle often, Chevalier. And you grin with a most self satisfied air while you do so. But that was a laugh, and it is an excellent look for you.

[Remy had always said, when in doubt? Be playful. And while there are very few instances where Adele listens to what Remy told her- this was one area that he knew far, far more than she.]

"I shall keep that in mind, then."

[For some reason, he can't keep the broad grin on his face. There was something terribly comforting about this. This banter, and this particular topic of conversation.]

It may also be to your benefit to wear something other than the robes of your order; especially in this weather. I know you are trained and accustomed to ignoring the small discomforts but truly, Ben. It won't hurt to wear something else now and then.

[she reaches over to tweak the sleeve of his robe. For her part she'd abandoned the slacks and button downs once the heat hit- today she's in cut off jean shorts and a loose cotton tank top, Rick's dog tags and the charms Rei had given her visible.]
