Prescribed Recreation part 3: Chillax'n with a Vengeance

Summary: After an unfortunate tussle with a Chaos God, work on a farm, a swarm of refugees and stress piled upon stress, sometimes all anyone wants is to sit back and watch classic movies.
Rating: PG for possible adult language
Something that everyone could agree on was this: the past three weeks had been several shades of stressful. What they needed, what they all needed was something mindless and relaxing shared in the company of those they care for in a neutral environment. The beach works well enough, and it's not that far a trip for anyone involved.

[Sabriel murmurs in agreement and shakes her head; she still can't forgive the Kin'Coran's for what they had attempted to do to their farm, for hurting as many people as they did in their greedy attempt at a raid. But they were gone, and the Shifts helping Luceti run smoothly were back in place and tempers and tensions had been smoothed out.

The hair ruffle brings a small smile to her lips as she reaches up to tuck a misplaced lock of hair behind her ear.]

I am. They're both very sweet and cheerful. How have you been, Adele?

I have been...better since I returned to house forty six. Living with Luke and Ben has given me a greater peace of mind.

[She reaches over to slide her arm around Sabriel's shoulders, pulling the girl into an easy hug.]

And you? You have been resting well?

[thebellthatbinds]

Good, I'm glad they have been able to help you.

[With a soft smile Sabriel returns the hug, one arm curled around Adele's shoulders as she gives the petite woman a gentle squeeze.]

Yes, and I've been aquainted with the benefits of repeated therapy from Nala.

[Sabriel lifts an arm and pulls back her sleeve a bit to show her skin. Once burned and sore, now it was smooth with barely visible scaring.]

And with you staying with Rei and Ami I know you are safe and well, they will watch out for you. Helios isn't without his own protection. It is..good to not have to worry.

[Adele smooths Sabriel's hair back, looking down at the exposed skin. Smooth, no horrid burn scars left to mar Sabriel's memory of what happened. It's for the best.]

Good. My biggest worry was of the potential for nerve damage- but you've lost no sensation?

And Ben and Luke will keep you safe as well.

[They would all be fine. Maybe sometime soon...they'd all be able to go home again.]

It was a little dull at first but it seems to be coming back.

I have no doubt about it.

[It's a ginger, practiced motion when Adele takes that healing arm between her hands and runs a thumb along where she remembered a burn being not long ago. Light, the barest brush of skin to healing skin.]

You feel this?

[Closing her eyes to better focus on the sensation of the touch rather than visually noting it she dips her head after a moment.]

...I do.

Good.

[Adele gives Sabriel's hand a gentle squeeze.]

Then you'll have nothing to fear. The rest should heal and you'll have your full range of sensation as you ought to.

That is a relief.

[Looking up with a small smile she squeezes Adele's hand back.]

It's good to see you.

I'll try to visit you more often. Perhaps we could arrange a dinner with Helios another time as well. I don't think he's been eating properly.

[She shakes her head, putting those thoughts aside.]

I'll bake maracons tomorrow and bring them over.

I've been trying to remind him to whenever we meet to tea. It's been a little hard catching him as of late but...if you bring those macaroons of yours I'm sure we could tempt him to visit.

He is still adjusting. But so long as we remind him we hold no ill will towards him and provide he and Luminair with sweets all shall be well.


I wonder if it is possible to make home made marshmallows.

I'm sure we could do it, and Luminair would love us if we did. For a growing baby dragon he certainly loves his marshmallows.

[Her eyes go a little soft at the thought of the baby dragon. She had never had a pet or companion like that growing up but just being able to sit and pet him and...well, yes, cuddle him a bit too, made her happy.]

We may even be able to talk Helios into letting us make them in his apartment. He'll just have to be careful not to make a mess as we had that one time a few months ago.

[She huffs a soft laugh, shaking her head at the memory of sugar all over the kitchen.]

Luminair is very fond of you, Petite Cloche. It is very sweet to see.

I'll try and keep an closer eye on you both next time then.

[It's hard to forget; sugar everywhere, and Adele's wings proving to be surprisingly ticklish. It had been a bit of a shock at the time but now it's an amusing and sweet memory.]

I'm fairly certain it would be hard to find someone Luminair did not take to...but I am very fond of him. I've had friends who have owned pets in the College but I never had something like that.

I think we might need it.

[Adele shakes her head, wings flicking behind her. A week and a half later and she was still shaking sugar from between her feathers. How mortifying.]

He's friendly enough with everyone, but he seems to especially enjoy the attention you give him.

[...now there's a thought. She'll have to do some research to sort out how many points it took, but Adele's been struck by a solid idea.]

I will make sure to bring a candy thermometer for it and remind him not to use magic this time.

[Sabriel gives a little shrug, smiling at the thought of the little dragon as she tucks a straying lock of hair behind her ear.]

He is a good reading partner and he's so sweet. And he is still a child so to speak; all the more reason to be attentive and affectionate.

[Half of Adele's mind is already running through what she feels she's capable of, if she could stand a mission, how many points it might cost- how long she would be away. Worth versus risk. There were safe enough missions available.]

We'll need the reminder. One kitchen explosion was more than enough.

Should I bring some rain jackets just in case?

Although if we are going to make marshmallows, we should really put together a proper meal for him too while we're at it.

Might as well plan something special, wouldn't you say? Not necessarily fancy but...comfort food. Something with sentimental value.

Mn, yes. Other than sweets though, I'm not sure what his favourite food would be but...something warm and hearty might be good.

[Can't get much more comfort than a rustic home cooked meal in her mind.]

Stew and fresh bread would be simple enough, I should think. And something he would enjoy.

I think he will too. A full meal with tea and sweets afterwards...it should make him happy.

He needs a little more happiness in his life. I think we all do.

It's something we must constantly work towards, even if its just in taking the time to find happiness in the little everyday things.

Although...he has Luminair with him. It's impossible not to be happy when that little dragon is around.
