Prescribed Recreation part 3: Chillax'n with a Vengeance

What: Movie night on the beach
When: September 9th, in the evening
Where: The Beach
Summary: After an unfortunate tussle with a Chaos God, work on a farm, a swarm of refugees and stress piled upon stress, sometimes all anyone wants is to sit back and watch classic movies.
Rating: PG for possible adult language
Something that everyone could agree on was this: the past three weeks had been several shades of stressful. What they needed, what they all needed was something mindless and relaxing shared in the company of those they care for in a neutral environment. The beach works well enough, and it's not that far a trip for anyone involved.

Sometimes it just...takes a little time to figure out your feelings for someone. [ Helios smiles and takes Luminair who chirps happily and licks Helios' face. He laugh a little before placing the baby dragon on the ground. ]

Sh-she, um, laughed...quite a bit actually. But I think it worked quite well. [ He smiles and looks a bit distant. ] I don't think the quality was really her interest at the time. I-I did ask her...shortly afterward and she said yes. S-So I believe she did appreciate them.

[ Being soulmates also factored into that equation as well. ]

I'm accustomed to compartmentalizing my life. This has several diverse sections overlapping in a way that I'm not overly comfortable with but there truly is nothing for it. The heart wants what the heart wants, yes?

[She's not terribly worried about Luminair wandering into trouble, so she turns her full attention onto Helios.] Robert did most of the work when I met him. And by most, I mean all. He was thoroughly infatuated with me and I was charmed by him. And we were both terribly young so I am...very rusty, here.

[folklorist]

It d-does. And sometimes you should, um, follow it when given the choice to do so. Not, ah, many times does it ever get put to much use.

[ Helios smiles. ] Ah, yes, you did mention him b-before. Infatuated, hm? I-I do know all about that. [ He was thoroughly infatuated with Elise back then. Even before he knew that they were true lights. That fact though just made everything clearer and more certain. ] It...has been awhile for myself t-too. I-I can try to help as best I can though. If-if you want it, I mean.

[ But well, you know, Helios doesn't really strike people as the type of person to exude knowledge on this subject. ]

The last time I did that it ended poorly, but I was young and foolish. Now I am older and...still foolish on occasion. [She huffs a laugh and shakes her head.

Helios, well. She didn't know much about his love life, his romantic past. With what she knew of his brother she had hoped that it was lighter, easier. The fond smile that peeks out now and then whenever the subject does turn in that direction makes her feel that must have been the case. Or is the case.]

I would appreciate it. I'm entirely at a loss and don't...the last date I attempted was back in February, with you, Alice, and Stark. And you remember how very well that went.

[folklorist]

N-No. I-I don't think you are, foolish I mean. These things t-take time to, um, figure out. It doesn't make you foolish to m-make mistakes with them. [ No one really does know about his love life. Mostly because it's ending is steeped in sorrow and pain. But the good times he can correctly call up as quickly and probably even more clearly than the bad. Years worth of happiness and companionship were not overwhelmed by the darkness of her death. But this day...so close to the anniversary made it just a little bit harder to remember that.

Helios' face colors slightly at the reminder. Him and Alice, oh gods, how could he forget something like that? He looks away and down at the floor. ] Th-that was with Malnosso intervention. Of course things would be, ah, misconstrued. I think just...taking it slowly would b-be best, yes? We have all the time in the world here after all.

[ And hopefully the Malnosson don't do anything to try and ruin it. Though something can be said about the shared hardships making relationships closer. ]

[fleurdesel]

It's a bit more difficult to avoid someone should things go wrong, though. I can't very well leave the village. It's not the best way to handle the situation but it's the...cleanest. [Coldest as well, that sudden isolation. Self induced and she'd been fine with it more or less. She'd had work. That wasn't the case here, people would ask questions, would wonder what happened- it had been bad enough when all she had to worry about was Remy and Henri but here. Downsides to a larger network of friends and family, she supposes.

The blush made her snort a laugh, shake off what she'd been thinking. That, yes, that was something of a trainwreck.] The Malnosso made me love Stark. They did not make me want to attempt a double date. That was my own strange attempt at normalcy, which I've all but abandoned here.

...Small things first, yes? Just. Ways of letting him know I care without pushing or stating it outright.

[folklorist]

T-True that's...very true. But you c-could always talk it out t-too. [ Helios knows all about self induced isolation Adele. He knows all too well and it's the fact that he didn't do that, or wasn't allowed to do it, that he's even out and about today. It took a whole lot of self restraint to not just stay isolated...especially today of all days.

The snort makes Helios' advert to the ocean and then he clears his throat as he nods. ] It wasn't so b-bad, really. D-Double dates are c-common, aren't they? [ He is so unsure about that but, yes, that date wasn't too terribly bad. Him and Alice weren't exactly the most...normal of couples to join them. ]

S-Small things first, yes. Try to m-make as natural as p-possible.

I think I'm of a better mindset to be able to talk it out, now. As frustrating as this place is I've managed to resolve quite a bit of what left me bitter and argumentative. It hasn't made me any less bitter or argumentative, I simply understand it better. [It's easy enough for her to laugh at herself while she reaches out to give Helios' shoulder a quick, faint squeeze. The barest brush of contact before she withdraws her hand.]

...thank you for coming out. I know it must have been difficult and I do appreciate it. You don't...have to stay for the entirety of the film if you do not wish to.

[A beat.]

He does enjoy honey in his tea. He never does it himself but he does like it.

[folklorist]

Luceti has the uncanny ability of-of changing people l-like that. But, um, I'm glad th-that you are. You're...f-feeling better then? Has the orb I-I gave you, helped? [ He can at least ask her about it. Helios looks down at Luminair and gives the littler dragon a big smile. Luminair's eyes glow brightly as he chirps and runs around between Adele and Helios' feet. ]

I-I suppose I could s-stay for...a little while. Luminair does love the beach quite a bit. I-I think it has to do with what type of dragon he is, actually. This...also got me o-out of the house for a little bit. [ It was rather hard on this day especially to do so. Helios is closer to figuring it out as Luminair gets older and matures more. He pauses and looks out at the ocean behind them. ]

Honey in his tea, hm. Well then, that's a s-starting point at least, correct?

[fleurdesel]

I haven't had one of those visions in...two days, now. I don't think they've gone entirely but they're coming further and further apart. [A beat, then her smile brightens, voice warm with gratitude.] It has, more than I can say. Since you've given it to me I haven't had any trouble sleeping through the night.

[It's easy to reach down and scritch the top of Luminair's head, the little dragon just lent itself to affection so well. Having the dragon pleased also helped Helios to smile more often, and that was something Adele was in favor of any day.]

Perhaps if the weather remains favorable you, Sabriel, and I could have lunch here one day? Nothing fancy, but it would be good for both of you, and I know Sabriel misses your company.

...It is. I think he also prefers Danish in the mornings, but not often. I shall sort it out later.

[folklorist]

O-Oh. [ He looks and sounds relieved at Adele's answer. ] That's...that's very good news. I-I'm glad to hear it. I'm glad that it could help you.

[ Helios smiles lightly as Luminair chirps happily from that pet. His tail wagging as he gives Adele's hand an affectionate little nudge. Helios is silent for a moment or two. ]

I-I think that would be nice. Before the weather gets colder, one last day on the beach would be lovely. M-Maybe we could take the MAV out into the ocean as well. I feel terrible for not t-taking her out lately. [ He looks over at the small schooner in the distance. ]

Danish, hm? I could teach you how to bake th-those if you wanted? Homemade danishes are absolutely delicious.

[fleurdesel]

I haven't been sailing since I joined the voyage for the Brittania- and with as tense as I was at the time I did not get the opportunity to enjoy it as much as I should. I'm certain Sabriel would enjoy it as well, if you're of a mind.

[She follows Helios' gaze to the schooner, remembering those that helped him sail it before with a pang of bittersweet memory. It's part of why she never asked, not really.]

Really? I would appreciate that a great deal. It'd be more personal that simply bringing him some from the cafe in the mornings.

[folklorist]

I wouldn't want to leave anyone out, of course. Sabriel is...more than welcome to joining us. Maybe staying out f-for the day would be relaxing. [ As long as they don't have any crazy weather. But Helios smiles as he looks at the schooner still. A bittersweet memory, yes. But it was a wonderful and happy memories that he has with the boat. And right now those are some of the most important memories one could have. ]

M-Maybe I'll...stop by the house sometime and, and show you? [ He's not sure if he should move back in or not. ]

[fleurdesel]

Not so far out as to worry about the weather, but far enough that we might fish...and if you are worried about the weather we might always request that Saori keep an eye on it for us. I'm certain she wouldn't mind it.

[It'd be a lovely way to spend the day, truly. The three of them, little Luminair, the ocean, such as it was.]

That would be lovely, Helios. I could make you some of those macarons as well if you like.

[He's welcome whenever he feels fit to return. Adele misses living with him, with Sabriel. It wasn't bad living with the Jedi but...House 44 was her home, and they her family.]

[folklorist]

True, true. Saori might actually enjoy coming along too.

[ The more the merrier after all. ]

Ah. I do love your macarons. That'd be lovely. [ Acceptable payment is acceptable. ] A-And I promise not to, um, use any m-magic this time around. [ A sheepish laugh as he runs a hand through his hair. ]

[fleurdesel]

I think it's possible to cook with magic, just...not wise when we've other means readily available. I don't know what went wrong that time, have you sorted it out? Because it was quite sudden!

[folklorist]

It was just...a slip of my concentration, is all. It h-happens every once in awhile. [ They're all human after all. ] I-I admit that I won't be using magic to c-cook anytime soon though. So there's no need to worry. [ A sheepish laugh as he rubs the back of his neck. ]

[fleurdesel]

It was going fairly well up until that point. [Even if it had, quite literally, blown up in their faces.] Perhaps we could attempt it again some time in the future. Without molten sugar being involved.

[folklorist]

Fairly well, yes. I s-suppose we could try something else. Is there anything you would want to try and cook?

[fleurdesel]

...Pizza, perhaps? There's a particular comfort food I've yet to prepare here. I don't know if we could find everything for it but it would be interesting to try.

[folklorist]

There is a pizza shop. S-So I'm sure there's at least the basic ingredients. Homemade pizza sounds lovely though. It's always a fun endeavor to partake in. What kinds of toppings do you usually put on yours?

[fleurdesel]

Is it yet open? I have not heard much from it since I last spoke to Monsieur Jordan.

[She shrugs.]

A cream sauce, fresh mussels, a mild goat cheese and apples.

[folklorist]

I'm not sure actually. But, well, could always check to be certain.

[ Helios' eyes widen a little at that. ] That sounds delicious actually. I've never had a pizza like that, then again, I don't eat it very often.

[fleurdesel]

It's based off of a common dish in Normandy. Something my father made often whenever we spent the summers at the cottage. Perhaps I should try my hand at making the dish proper for you, you might enjoy it.

[folklorist]

[ Helios smiles at the word cottage. It's a sad but genuine smile. He and Elise had a cottage to which they used to go to as well. It was a good bundle of memories amidst all the bad. ] I'd like that Adele. It sounds like it would be delicious.
