Prescribed Recreation part 3: Chillax'n with a Vengeance

Who: House 44, House 46, House 3, Saori, Steve Rogers, and whoever wanders in
What: Movie night on the beach
When: September 9th, in the evening
Where: The Beach
Summary: After an unfortunate tussle with a Chaos God, work on a farm, a swarm of refugees and stress piled upon stress, sometimes all anyone wants is to sit back and watch classic movies.
Rating: PG for possible adult language
Something that everyone could agree on was this: the past three weeks had been several shades of stressful. What they needed, what they all needed was something mindless and relaxing shared in the company of those they care for in a neutral environment. The beach works well enough, and it's not that far a trip for anyone involved.

[And after a moment more of considering her and what she might be up to, he ends up returning the gesture. She gets a bow of his head right back, the same greeting. He's not inclined to move from his perch the safe distance away, however, being all too aware of how startling he can be for that.]
thebellthatbinds: (what was that?)

[Polite, and considerate. Considering how at home the creature appeared in this neck of the woods it seemed only polite to say hello. Although she does take a moment to let someone know where she is. It never hurts to be cautious and...well, the dragon was frighteningly large.

Stepping away from the group and towards his chosen perch she stops at a respectful (and safe) distance, cupping her hands around her mouth as she speaks.]

We are not disturbing you, are we?

[He keeps an eye on her as she approaches, about as uncertain as she is. New people, new humans, he never knows how a meeting will go with them, but that she stops a respectful distance away helps to ease most of those worries.

He tilts his head to one side, just a bit.
]

Disturbing me? [Oops. Is that what she's worried about?] No, no, of course not. I have no claim to the beach.

[During the time when the Kin'Coran's were about Sabriel had caught glimpses of the giant white wolf that had taken to prowling the forest, often followed by the sound of growling and a faint scream. If he was a similar protector of a certain area then it would be better to err on the side of caution and formality.

That said, she is more than a little surprised again when he speaks. That was not the sort of voice she imagined a dragon to have...then again the only dragon noises she's ever heard until now have been the high, squeaky chirrups from Luminair.]

Ah, good. [She nods and relaxes a little, offering the dragon a polite smile.]

We're going to be watching a motion picture later in the evening, if you are interested I think you'll be able to see and hear it from your current perch just fine.

[Ah, the things he could say about that wolf. The things. If Draco is such a creature, another guardian, he's certainly been more hands-off than Moro, with his appearances near now distant village itself rare indeed. Still, it really is never a bad idea to approach a dragon with caution.]

Is that what the screen is for? [He really can see it easily from here, what they're up to.] Is it a TV? I'd been told they were smaller.
thebellthatbinds: (interesting note)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-15 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
[He knows what a TV is? Well, this is turning into quite an interesting learning experience for Sabriel!]

Not quite; the screen will hold the image of the film once it is projected through a machine brought by one of my friends. From what I understand, the machine will also play any music or dialogue as well.
merelychewed: (what’s the difference between you)

[personal profile] merelychewed 2012-09-18 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
[He's been told of them! And of videos. That's about the extent of his knowledge on the matter.]

So it's... like a TV? [He sounds uncertain. How many things like that are there?] A machine can do all that. How strange.

[Draco squints at the set-up further along the beach again.]

It wouldn't be those boxy things, would it?
thebellthatbinds: (I'm listening)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-19 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Lifting a hand to shade her eyes Sabriel glances back down the length of the beach to where the others had mostly finished setting up.]

I believe those are speakers, made to amplify the sounds. The blue and white metal creature is what will be projecting the film.

[He searches for the blue and white object, managing to pick it out among the other items set up.]

It's a creature that does that?
thebellthatbinds: (why?)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-22 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
It is not technically alive like you and I, but it has a mind of its own even though its body is made of metal. To be honest I do not know much about it...it is after my time.
merelychewed: (a riddle if you will)

[personal profile] merelychewed 2012-09-24 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
It could be a living thing under the metal. Humans put on metal armor like that.

[Though they don't project things. Well, maybe arrows or insecurity, but not pictures.]
thebellthatbinds: (what was that?)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-24 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly, but I have never heard of anything that could make the sound it does save for some sort of tropical bird.

However...in my home world it's possible for a Charter construct to take on something of a personality over time.
merelychewed: (buck futter)

[personal profile] merelychewed 2012-09-26 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Pardon, but what is a Charter construct? An object like that one?

[The reference flies over his head, but he's curious.]
thebellthatbinds: (I'm listening)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-27 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
No, a Charter construct is a being or creature made entirely out of magic for a specific purpose or job in my world. For example, a Charter Sending guard would be bound to the land it is assigned to protect; it would appear when needed, and fade when there is no longer a threat.

[And before she gets carried away Sabriel pauses in her explanation to give the Dragon a proper little bow.]

My name is Sabriel by the way, forgive me for not introducing myself earlier.
merelychewed: (i pose a conundrum to you)

[personal profile] merelychewed 2012-09-28 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[He squints down at her.]

I begin to wonder if I'm the only one here without magical powers... [So long as he didn't count fire and his sparkly dragon soul as magical, anyway. The introduction receives a slight bow of his own head, which is as much as a dragon so big might bow in return.] Well met, Sabriel. I go by Draco these days, so you may call me by that name.
thebellthatbinds: (sweet smile)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-29 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I assure you sir, you are not; a few of my dear friends here come from worlds without magic and therefore possess none inherently. Although I suppose all of the residents could learn the Filial magic available here.

[Now that seems like a fearsome thought, a dragon of his size casting spells.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Draco.
