Pinkie's New Feather Party: The Masquerade Ball!

The night is finally here! Pinkie Pie and friends have been working hard to get everything absolutely perfect. The Battle Dome has been done up to look like a grand ballroom, complete with dance hall and dining area. A small, but elegantly decorated stage is situated in the middle of the dance hall, and is equipped with microphones and speakers for anyone willing to perform. Otherwise, the dome is set up to play songs on request.

The dining area is equipped with a buffet-style dinner selection, filled with food contributed by various donators, highlighted by a large cake at the central table, which is then surrounded by smaller tarts, pies and pastries. Wine, champagne, and other choice drinks are available from ice chests near the buffet line.

Finally, since it was so popular with the last party, the night will be ended with a fireworks display over the dome. Afterwards, Pinkie Pie will be going around making sure everyone gets home safely, before returning to the dome to start cleaning up.

Note: Like Pinkie's last party, this one has a theme: a Masquerade Ball. Everyone who enters must wear a mask, and keep it on for the entirety of the party. If you haven't picked one out yourself, Pinkie would be more than happy to provide one for you.

[He almost asks if this is the time or the place, but he can wait to pull her out to dance. This is important]

[Ami answers carefully, choosing her words.]

I do; but what I know is Norse myth. The reality can be very different. Besides that, he's known as a trickster god. What he could do could be very unpredictable.

This is true. He...struck me as such. But there was more I felt in his mind, just from surface thoughts. He is...seething, and angry. And definitely not sane. I don't think he's harmful, at least not to you or me, but I'm going to keep an eye on him.

But, Ami-chan...we didn't come to the ball to talk about trouble, did we? We've got our camping trip tonight after we leave, and we'll have plenty of private time to talk about business then.

You're right; and I have everything packed at home. We'll just have to stop by the house after the ball.

[Rei will be alright while she's gone, with Sabriel there; she won't be alone.]

Well that sounds good. The weather is good, and unless something drastic happens then we'll have a couple of days of peace and quiet together.

[Luke smiles and holds out his hand]

Would you like to dance? It'll be fun.

[As long as she has a partner? She'll give it a try. Ami nods slightly, and takes Luke's hand.]

I'd like that very much.

I'm glad.

[Luke leads her out onto the edge of the dance-floor, not wanting to make her uncomfortable by being too out in the open. He pulls her in close, and places his hand high on her waist, a formal gesture that speaks of courtly training. Leia had insisted he learn some Alderaanian court traditions, as had Lady Capistan. Luke wasn't going to embarrass himself, and despite the closeness he hoped Ami didn't mind.]

Have you danced like this before?

[Ami shakes her head.]

No, I haven't. I never went to dances, really. [Lack of a likely partner. And lack of friends to hang out with if she'd gone anyway. And then, she was out of school anyway, and never went to many of the hospital parties either, as just a medical student.]

[Well, then allow Luke to lead you, Ami...into a very slow waltz.]

I'm still surprised you never did it. A girl as pretty and smart as you?

I didn't have many friends. [She is, however, fairly graceful, and while she's still learning the steps, there's no danger to Luke's feet.]

Well, then people were just missing out then. I'm a lucky guy.

[Luke is light on his feet, and he gives her time to learn.]

[Ami suddenly gives the other dancing couples a slightly nervous look.]

Will we have to change partners? [Not that she'd mind... but she might not be very good at it.]

Not if you don't want to. Though, if you want to I'm sure Ben and Adele wouldn't mind dancing with you.

[Luke gives her hand a gentle squeeze and hugs her closer as they dance.]

But that's up to you, you can just stay with me if you want.

I think it's better to stay like this. It's simpler.

Yes, and it gives us more time in this formalwear together. Sometimes its nice to dress up.

[She wills herself not to look at her feet, or anything else that would seem awkward and out of place. It has the added effect of making her give Luke her full attention, looking him in the eye more than she often does.]

I enjoy it. I suppose I became used to the school uniform when I was younger, but ever since then, I've liked wearing things that a little more stylish, or nice.

[Luke's glad that she's meeting his eyes, he really likes looking at them. The dark brown, reflecting his own ice-blue, is pretty enchanting. Its times like this...he doesn't mind so much being trapped in a prison planet, made to fight mad barbarians and endure dehumanizing experiments. This girl makes it worth it. His father had made it worth it. Obi-Wan, and Adele, and all the others. Even Lupin, despite their current quandary.]

It looks good on you, Ami-chan. I'm glad...we get to have a quiet night together. And that you've agreed to spend a week with me out in the mountains.

I'm excited about going. I'd like to study some of the wildlife in the mountains, since I haven't spent much time there before.

Haha, you never stop trying to learn, do you? I'm sure we'll see plenty of interesting animals. And we can practice other things too. It'll be good to sleep out under the stars.

The air will be fresh and clear, too. [Not that Luceti has nearly the problems with pollution that twentieth century Tokyo has, but it's still a thought in her mind.]

Absolutely, nothing like Coruscant or Corellia. I've always liked cities, but never really liked living there for extended periods of time.

It's different for me, because I grew up in a large city. It's what I'm used to.

Well, from what you've told me...there's a difference. Coruscant City pretty much encompasses the entire planet.

Lots more noise, lots more pollution.

I've heard of places where one city really spreads over everything. I haven't seen anything like that with my own eyes, though. Even here, there are several different places like this.
