There was a message flashing on his screen...
Nice Try! Did you really think it would be that easy?
[...curious. No matter. Spock clipped his PADD back to his belt and quietly tip-toed around the crates towards Glados...
It would seem her 'red eye was pointed the other direction...
Spock assumes that the machine's movements are rather limited so he thinks that putting the tarp over her head should be relatively easy.
With a burst of energy Spock rounds the corner and runs at Glados with the tarp out in front of him.]

She may not be hanging, but she still has a decent amount of her mobility when it comes to moving her "head" area. ]
You two are really trying my patience...

He felt a subtle shift in the chassis when he lifted upward. The mechanism gave enough for Lupin to get a better grip and move the heavy door upward by a few inches before it jammed again.
It was barely an accomplishment.
Lupin pounded the side of his fist against the door in agitation, seeking both catharsis and Spock's assistance. He was going to need a hand here...]
no subject
The hit that Spock took from Glados was unexpected and rather strong.... and it propelled him through the air to come crashing into the door...making a rather large dent.]
Rubbing his back he looks at Arsene...]
My....m-my apologies. Did I hurt you? The door may be easier to get through now....

Lupin quickly shook his head--he was fine, but the possibility of the door being jammed even further was an unwanted annoyance. He could work with it, but it was going to be trickier.
Fair really was fair. He set back to work at hauling the door open. If only there were controls on the inside...]
no subject
Indeed...fair is fair... We shall hopefully be out of your space momentarily.
[Spock could see what Arsene was attempting to do and moved to assist him. Spock stood by Lupin and grasped the edge of the door and gave a significant pull...
The door protested the move, but it left a gap... but not big enough for a person to get through. ]
More effort is needed it would seem...

You do realize that you've disabled this entire facility, correct? I think there is even a medical facility up there. A poor child is probably suffering right now because you turned off his life support. How are you even living with yourselves right now?
no subject
I saw no children in the facility, and only a few in town.
no subject
Apparently there is a distinct lack of children around at this present time, so do not worry yourself. Also...the Malnosso seem to be in complete control of this facility and are observing us right now... I believe they are finding amusement in our efforts. Perhaps you would be inclined to help us with the door?
[Spock gave another heave at the door and it moved another inch.]
no subject
I still can't do anything to assist with the power down. So either you fix that, or I won't be doing much helping at all. It's your choice. Feel free to take your time. After all, I can wait much longer than you can.
no subject
Go do it.]

He kneels and starts to rummage around with the wiring...
Spock lifts one hand to his head as if he is in slight pain... but shakes it off.
He connects the last wire....
There is a moments' pause before the lights start to flicker on and the gentle hum of power can be heard once more. But the clatter of the PADD can be heard as Spock doubles over, both hands clutching his head.]
no subject
There now. Was that so hard? Well, judging from your reaction it might have been, but you brought this all on yourself. So I can't say I have much sympathy.
In fact, I might not have any sympathy at all. I don't know if I'm capable of it. That might be something to look into when I'm done with this.

The sight of Spock, the only person he knew that he could trust in the building, curled up in such distress was frightfully unsettling.
He dropped to his knees next to Spock and wrapped both arms around the other man's shoulders. There was no way for him to ask anything, and he was too alarmed to think. There was only one option left to him, and he took it.
Lupin grabbed one of Spock's hands, and didn't know if he should regret it.]
no subject
It would seem that his Vulcan mind was attempting to heal itself without him knowing... and effect of the memory loss it seems....
Spock's Katra was literally trying to force itself through whatever barrier the Malnosso had set in place and it was causing him pain.... and Spock did not know why.
Lupin's sudden contact was like a cooling balm and his mind immediately reached out and grabbed hold....causing a rather curious sensation of..Sparks? Fireworks?..behind your eyes...]
...Ar..Arsene..?
no subject
He was conscious, but the vertigo was back at full strength. Any focus he had was lost to the dizzying haze, but he didn't panic. Spock was there as an anchor in many more ways than the obvious. His very presence was a comfort--
--though a part of his mind distantly bristled at such contact. There was a twinge of nervousness and discomfort, a vague anxiety about being exposed--
But his breathing calmed as he heard his name go unspoken. He could worry about the strange anxiety attack later.]
I'm fine. What about you?
no subject
I am ...I am not sure. My mind... something I cannot explain...
[Spock finds himself leaning into Lupin to increase contact... This was becoming frustratingly illogical....]
Should we apologize to GlaDOS? [It was rather an abstract thought...but Spock was pulling himself together once more... but remained rather confused.]
no subject
[Vertigo. It was his only explanation for the disorientation, the moment of panic, and the crackling sensation that felt like the precursor to a migraine. Lupin breathed slowly, willing his focus to return to him, and squeezed Spock's shoulder in a reassuring gesture.]
Don't try to explain. Just help me up...and we should apologize to GLaDOS-chan.
['-chan'? Why would he use that?]
no subject
Spock turns to face GLaDOS and bows his head slightly...]
My apologies for causing you distress... we did not know if you were a threat... [The fact that they still didn't know went without saying.]
If you would....kindly open the door for us, we will leave you in peace.
sorry for the delay, guys, I got hurricane'd x.x
But at least I want you out of here almost as much as you want to be out of here. So for now I'll go along with your request. Not particularly because you requested it, of course. I'm feeling just that generous.
I ran some tests with my spare processes, by the way. It turns out I'm not actually programmed to have any sympathy. I found that interesting. Not that I'm incapable of exhibiting the same symptoms, of course, but unlike you I'm not governed by any attachment to that sort of emotion.
[ There's a small beep from GLaDOS. ]
Oh, there's the other test. Looks like I don't have generosity, either. So I suppose I'm doing this all purely for my own benefit. [ She sighs, and it almost sounds... happy. ] You're welcome.
[ And with that, the metal shields locking down the Battle Dome all slide away, except for the one the two had been working on which raises angry screeching metal protest before disappearing itself. ]
D: At least you're okay!
A tug at Spock's arm, to get him to move. Lupin was still waiting out the vertigo that the chaos had triggered, but he heaved a breath of relief. At least everyone was okay.]
no subject
Indeed... Then we shall leave you.
[Spock grabs hold of Arsene's hand and walks towards the door.]
