[Loki smiles. That is certainly an interesting turn of phrase by Barton, considering who they had been the previous week, so to speak.]

[The laugh is like nails down his spine. Loki's right and that makes it worse. He remembers how easy it had been to have no past, and no need to build so many defenses.]

I... can't actually argue against that.
