This is what all his other students have to look forward to

What: Magic test taking time!
When: October 16th around mid-afternoon
Where: Just outside the western lake
Summary: Haruhi is going to be taking her magic exam. No cheating is allowed!

Helios has the entire area setup much like one of the Council’s preliminary tests for new and training wizards. There are a few spots on the ground marked with runes drawn in chalk that glow faintly in the afternoon sun and there are others that are not yet finished. Sigils that have pieces missing and others with objects in them, yet to be used, are strewn about the floor. There’s a teleportation sigil, an illumination sigil, and a binding sigil all in separate areas of the ground. There's ones that are almost complete and others where just the outline is made.

Away from all of that is a series of odd looking constructs that seem to be made out of mud and random stones and debris. They don’t move, for now, but on command they will spring to life. The second part of the test is a bit trickier than the first. Helios will be waiting for Haruhi to show up then, pacing a little and setting up a station with healthy foods and drinks. Because using as much magic as they were about to, he did not want Haruhi to collapse or anything like that.

[She shows up as timely as she can, brushing some hair back. She didn't bother to teleport - no need to exhaust herself before things got started - and instead just took and easy jog out here. She's also got her hair up in a pony-tail. She's grinning when she arrives though, this'll be fun.]

[ Helios is just cooling off some of the water bottles when Haruhi calls out. He turns and smiles back at her with a nod. ] Ah! Haruhi. I was just finishing setting everything up.

[ He motions with his arm towards the area around them. ] We can start whenever you're ready.

[godbent]

What, you're not giving an introduction to everything?

[As she gets closer, she puts a hand on her hips to survey everything]

[folklorist]

Oh! Yes of course. I was getting to that. [ Helios smiles as he motions to everything setup. ] There's a few sigils that you're going to have to fill in and actually activate to transport things to their correct areas as shown.

[ He then walks over to the mud and clay creatures. ] And these are here for you to fight. Or, ah, well prevent from getting over this line.

Huh, what sort of sigils?

[That said, she's not sure if she's allowed to look at them or not. But she does anyway]

[folklorist]

Ah. Just the usual ones. Teleportation, binding, and illumination. Some of them are completed, others have a few runes missing. There's one's you have to completely write out.

[ Helios looks over at the sigils with a curious sideways glance at Haruhi. ]

[godbent]

Binding, huh... [She's probably the weakest at binding of those. She considers about how she's - until now - always used a notepad to supplement her knowledge of the Teleportation sigil's construction. It's stupidly complex, after all. But... okay.] alright, I can do that.

[folklorist]

[ Helios gives Haruhi a very encouraging smile. ] I know you'll do perfectly fine. I, ah, have faith in your knowledge and abilities. Just relax and take your time. We can start whenever you're ready to.

[godbent]

Sigils first, right? [Okay. Okay... Actually she bushes her purse] From memory?

[folklorist]

Mm yes. As much as you can remember. But you have some fully completed sigils over there to practice teleporting and the actual use of. You'll receive full credit if you teleport yourself and the object into the designated spot, marked by those poles with the flags on them. [ He motions towards said flag poles. ]

And, ah, you'll receive points for every correct rune you transcribe on the sigils missing certain parts of them.

[...Alright. Inhale, exhale, and she readies a writing utensil. she can do this. First up, the lumination one. She hurries over and considers it.]

[folklorist]

[ Here Helios will allow Haruhi to fill them out and work with the sigils. He doesn't make any noise or give any distractions. The illumination sigil is all but completely aside from missing the center rune and a few runes at the top of the circle.

Upon completing it the area around the sigil will grow darker, and Haruhi will have to use that sigil to illuminate the area. ]

[She can memorize this much, right? Sure she normally uses a notebook but... she closes her eyes and then considers the note she always does in her mind. She gets a firm picture, and then nods to herself, opening to look again. Ah, there. She's able to more easily fill in the runes and empower it]

[folklorist]

[ The sigil will light up and illuminate the air, dispelling the darkness around the small space. Once Haruhi is done Helios will make his way over and smile, nodding in approval. Minus a few things, the sigil is actually very well made, and works as it should.

Helios will take a closer look, humming softly to himself as he does so. ] You're doing very good so far.

Well of course, it is me. [Next... binding. Not her favorite, really, and probably the one she's actually worked with the least. But it's also simple, arguably simplier than the illumination one if you ask her. Thus one though, she traces out the runes with her finger in the air as she walks over to check what the problem with it is]

[folklorist]

[ Just like the other sigil several runes are missing from this one. Mainly the middle most one, for activation and a few on the outer circle. ]

[godbent]

[Oh bah she doesn't know this as well... she can remember the middle activation one easy enough, but for the ones in the outer circle... She tries to mental visualize, but she genuinely has less practice with this one. Man. She should guess, or maybe try a memory game...]
