Harvest is Late Again.

Who: Nami (sort of) and anyone so inclined to help her out!
What: A harvest.
When: November 5th and 6th
Where: The mikan grove.
Summary: Nami didn't make the call for volunteers this year, despite already running late.  Luckily, Law did.
Rating: Rated PG just to be safe.


[So Nami didn't have a good time on the draft.  Which marks her up there with every other survivor of the damn thing, so nothing special there.  Events were rather shattering for both her and her crew, and she's been up here since her return, working to harvest the orchard on her own fifteen hours a day.  It's mindless and it's something to focus on, and she just didn't have the heart to make a public call out on the journals, let alone ask for help.  Aang and Marco came to help her out some earlier, for which she's silenty grateful.  But at this rate she'll be at least another week.

She hasn't heard Law's entry on the locked community (or anyone else's, for that matter), so when volunteers start arriving, she's surprised.  And not quite sure what to do except sort of...keep going. 

But.  Something tight within unwinds a little.  She might not be good at showing appreciation today, but it helps.  It really does.]

((ooc:  I've had a request for a harvest thread with Nami, so I figured putting this up is a good idea after all.  Nami herself isn't very sociable, though, so just warning ahead of time!  Backtaggable into forever.))

[Grune looks down at her basket, mildly surprised to see it isn't completely full yet.]

Oh, yes, that's a good idea.

[blessingone]

[A small laugh escapes her.]

We can do it together, if you'd like. [And thus you might actually get some done before you wander off while I'm distracted by Sophie.]

[lostinmyway]

[At that, she beams.]

Yes, I would! It's always nicer to do things together.

[blessingone]

[Fenimore's smile is fond.]

It is. Then we should get to it, right? [She waves Sophie over, who is returning from where she was delivering her full (or, rather, full enough) basket. Time to be moth -- looking out for two people now.]

[lostinmyway]

[She nods.]

That way, we can be a big help for Nami.

[And then she gets distracted by Sophie arriving. She bends down, just beams away, and exclaims:] Hello, Sophie! Are you going to help, too?

[Sophie nods. "I'm helping."

Fenimore can't help but doubt the "big" part of "big help." But, even if she feels pretty confident that she could word these doubts without either would figure it out, she'll keep that to herself.]

She's been a hard worker. [...It's not entirely a lie. And a bit of praise should help impart the intended lessons of pitching in.]

[Somehow, Grune looks even more delighted to hear this news.]

Good for you, Sophie! I'm sure you must be making Nami very happy.

[blessingone]

[A nod. "Yeah." This was totally an objective fact.

Fenimore goes for one of the dreaded hair ruffles. Fenimore likes giving them, even if Sophie doesn't tend to like receiving them.] Yeah, you are. But maybe Nami would be even happier if we got back to work.

That's a good idea, Fenimore! The more help we give her, the happier she'll be!

[Logic!]

[Sophie nods and hefts her basket. She can get behind this logic.

Fenimore looks a little more dubious.] Well...something like that, anyway. I guess it's true enough.

[lostinmyway]

[Grune sets her basket down on the ground and starts gathering up some mikans from the nearest tree.]

Have you said hello to Nami yet?

[blessingone]

[Fenimore briefly envies Grune's height before turning her attention to helping Sophie contribute.]

No, not yet. Although I don't really know if I will, really. I don't really know her all that well. I mean, I got a map from her once, but other than that we haven't really talked much.

It's all right. You don't need to be shy, Fenimore. Nami is very nice.

[Is there anyone in this village that Grune doesn't at least sort of know?]

I'm not being shy! [Normally, Fenimore being this quick and fervent about denying something would suggest that she is being insincere, but she actually does mean it. This time.] I just...she's probably busy enough as it is. That's all.

[She also looked a little tired, though she wasn't sure enough of this feeling to actually say it out loud.]

Hmm.... [That is a good point. But:] Well, maybe we can go talk to her when she's taking a break.

[blessingone]

Looking at the size of this crowd, there will be a lineup by then.

[She would put good money on the bet that Grune will miss the sarcasm and take that literally. Oh well.]

[And that money would be very safe, because....]

My, do you think so? Then maybe we should go right now.
