Panda Christmas

Who: Panda, Pilouette Bonheur, Shinji Ikaria, and everyone on the Secret Santa sign-ups!
What: It's the first Panda Christmas! Feel free to start your own mingle threads!

Summary: Well, somehow Panda managed to throw together a Christmas party. This won't end too poorly, will it?

For a while, it didn't look like it would pan out. Despite Shinji and Pilouette's presence and ties to the project that was Panda Christmas, Panda seemed to have no interest in the party whatsoever. His interest was even lower when he was caught trying to get everyone to bring a gift to him instead. So, while everyone went to sleep that night...

...Panda transformed the rec center. He brought in stalks of bamboo! He laid out all of the Panda themed candy! He "made" fresh panda bread! He even displayed traditional Christmas decorations like candy canes and mistletoe...but also some not so traditional decorations.

The biggest draw is probably the Christmas tree he's set up in the very center of the rec room for people to drop off their gifts! There are a few boxes underneath it already when the party starts, but the amount will only grow as more people come to drop off their gift.

But why let it end there? There's punch, baked goods, plates of bamboo...a little of everything thanks to Panda and Pilouette and Shinji. Why not stay a while and celebrate Christmas...Panda style!

[He'd been blowing them off all week, but here it is. The Rec Center is completely decked out with food and decorations. All that's missing are whatever Shinji's bringing (Panda has no idea, probably something boring) and Pilouette's baked goods. Despite the entire party being set up, though, Panda is nowhere to be seen when Shinji and Pilouette come by to see just how much work they have left to do.

Naturally, after spending all night working to make sure the first Panda Christmas went off without a hitch, Panda is asleep under the table, curled around one of the stuffed pandas he'd found.]

[Well, after meeting her once, Hibiki knows exactly what to get her.

Wait, no, she doesn't. Because what do dragons like? So, instead, she leaves a gift bag with a dragon bento box, a pair of Shiisa figurines, and a parrot plush. It's all she was able to find in a week, and she's completely unaware the last one probably gives her away.]

Objectively, Sokka didn't know Precis that well. But he knew she built an elevator and thus had an appreciate for the mechanical side of things. So besides making her a very nice adjustable wrench, he also picked out a cool lava lamp that he found.

[So. Shinji will be getting some winter gear from Aang. There's a black winter hat and matching gloves, and the hat has a small cartoon penguin on it. He also managed to find a wooden sled big enough that either he or Pen-Pen could ride it, and Aang managed to paint a penguin on the sled.

He doesn't leave his name but there's still a note reading "Have a happy winter!" with a smiley face scrawled alongside it.]

[Underneath the tree for Zevran, there are two things. The first is a very heavy box filled with colorful dumbbells of varying weights. There's also a large stability ball for him, but it's not wrapped.

...At some point, Sakura did realize this wasn't a very suitable gift...so she added a Christmas thermos to the box. She tried. She really did try, but ultimately, her shyness won out.]

Well imagine her surprise when she got Loki as a gift-giving partner. At least he wasn't a difficult person to shop for, knowing that he enjoyed strategy games and the like. From the shop she picks up a Go set and wraps it up in dark green wrapping paper. Hopefully he enjoyed it.

Chun-Li had never met Eugene, but that didn't stop her from trying her best to find a great present. She, like any good detective should, investigated and checked out any journal entries he'd made in the past but they didn't do much good. So she went with a good old standby and gave Eugene a box of handmade sweets from China.

Luke wasn't too good with gifts, particularly for people from Earth, and he has absolutely zero fashion sense. So when he has to ask around, the idea of clothing comes up. And Fujiko helps him pick out the ugliest sweater ever. Of course Luke has no IDEA that it's ugly, but it's definitely very, very, very festive. Fujiko, what is this abomination?

Rei had never met Ororo, but she did know that the woman was a teacher from her encounter with Kurt, and so armed with that knowledge she assumed that Ororo was probably a bit older than most people here and might not appreciate some of the standard Christmas gifts.

So Rei gave her two things. The first was a handcarved Omamori, a charm of good fortune and a note to keep in on her so that the magic could work, and the second was Rei's first ~~real~~ successful attempt at enchanting. Using some of the sigils and spells she'd learned from Helios, Rei had imbued a personal massager to always be slightly warm, to help unknot muscles better. Hopefully, Ororo would like it.

Imagine Ororo's surprise when she drew Sakura's name in the Secret Santa, the very girl who Ororo decided to convince to sign up for this whole activity in the first place. With this in mind, Ororo makes sure to get something that Sakura would hopefully appreciate.

She doesn't wrap her present, but she does tie a simple, festive bow around the little pot of the bonsai tree she selected for her friend. Tied to the bow is a simple card, reading:

To Sakura,
May you enjoy the holidays, whatever you may celebrate. Hopefully you appreciate this gift; it would go rather well with your dojo, don't you think?

[Red's never met the guy before, but he has done some research. Apparently Gon wants to be a Hunter, and that's something Red likes to see. He went down to the smithy and got them to make a Hunter badge from his world - it might not be the same kind of Hunter, really, but hopefully it would be alright. He even wrote some paperwork to go with it, although it's not really authentic.]

[Aside from that, there's a cute stuffed dog toy in the messily-wrapped package, along with a package of frosted, bone-shaped cookies.]

[Masaomi is sitting cross-legged under the tree with a bow on his head and a little card that says "For Misato Katsuragi". Some traditions (even if it was not repeated last year) die hard. There's more to it, of course, but right now, he's sitting impassive and ready for minor sexual harassment, given he drew the name of a woman]

[Well now, she has no idea who this Yuffie person is. That name sounds pretty sweet though! A little recon was in order for Pascal to whip up a few gifts, so she's done some flipping through the journal to get some ideas.

First off is a talking book. Yup. It's just an ordinary book with a device inside that plays back prerecorded messages when it's opened. Such messages include 'Yo, I'm a talkin' book!', 'Believe me when I say you look awesome today, would a book lie to you?' and 'Merry Christmas to yooou~' among other silly lines. The book itself is filled with blank and lined alternating pages, so maybe it could be used as a diary or something along those lines. The other gift Pascal thought would be pretty cool is a foam disc launcher, only she's modified it so it can fire pretty much anything disc shaped from the slot on the front. It comes with five foam discs and five metal ones. All of these gifts are wrapped up in a big, colourful box that will send out a blast of confetti when it's opened.]

[A starfish carving. Who doesn't want a carving of the cutest sea creature out there? Fuuko has made a hole in the top point of the carving and looped some ribbon through it so maybe it can be hung up, but the size of it might end up weighing down any Christmas tree it's put on.

Not everyone can appreciate the starfish though, so there are also three smaller wooden ornaments of a bear, dog and a frog she made bundled up with the starfish. Each carving has a gift tag with Hibiki's name on taped to it.]

[Yun's opted to give Daria something she likes to think can be enjoyed whether or not she knows who they are or what they like. What that is comes in the form of three little tins of herbal tea, homemade and in a loose form instead of bags rather than anything that can be found at the tea shop or store. There's about fifty grams of tea in each tin, which isn't a ton of tea, but is enough for one person to enjoy over time.

The three tins are labelled with ingredients rather than names in mostly neat, if somewhat childish, lettering:

- Orange peel, lemon peel, hibiscus, lemongrass, rosehips, and safflower; sweet and rather tangy.

- Spearmint, orange peel, cinnamon, sarsaparilla, peppermint oil, wintergreen extract; a very minty tea.

- Cinnamon, hibiscus, chamomile, dried apple; kind of tastes like apple cider.

Those, along with a little mesh infuser for making tea and a excessively festive mug, are wrapped up in a box with Daria's name on it.]

[ Helios will have gotten Ikki a tin of christmas cookies, shaped like snowmen, santas and reindeer. On top of that there's also two folded paper birds that will come to life and follow her like a real birds. ]

Ami's present consists of a book of fairy tales and a book of animal stories (like Peter Rabbit), both full of pretty pictures. Also a small stuffed rabbit that caught Florian's eye. It's all really inexpertly wrapped, but hey, he tried his best. (There's a lot of tape involved.)

[Despite having known Grune for over a year, after learning that she would be Grune's secret Santa...Pilouette realized that she doesn't actually know much about her. So after some hard thinking she remembers! something. The Memory Garden! Grune seems to spend a lot of time taking care of it and even though it's cold now, most gardening is done in the warmer, sunnier months!

So, with that in mind, Pilouette got Grune a straw gardening hat, with a green ribbon to fasten it. Also underneath the hat, is a box containing a small chocolate cake covered in a pastel green icing.]

[Having spent a good portion of the night and some of the morning making various baked goods, Pilouette has no idea just what Panda was up to all night, so she's actually kind of surprised that the Rec Center seems to be set up already. And so well! She's already assuming that he somehow got Shinji to do a lot of it.

After placing a tray of brownies on a table (there are still quite a few trips she needs to make) she takes a look around, leaning on a table and murmurs to herself.]

Where is that bear...? He's supposed to be hosting this thing, isn't he? When did all this even get done?

[ She doesn't know what to get specifically for a person she doesn't know, so.. she just tried making something anyone would enjoy! So Madoka went ahead and baked some cookies all by herself, by hand - they even have a nice Christmas and winter theme with the various shapes. They're wrapped in a matching Christmas package too!

There's quite a lot of them in the bag, so hey, enough to last you a while. Unless you totally gourge on them right away. ]

[After learning that Yotsuba's actual Secret Santa had left Luceti, Shinji set out to work! He didn't have a lot of time to work with, unfortunately (not when he had to be here for Pilouette in case Panda started... well, being Panda), but figuring out a gift for Yotsuba is easy even if he only has the journals to go off of. Wrapped neatly in blue wrapping paper is a big sticker book filled with stickers of all kinds of things, from food to animals to superheroes. When unwrapped, she'll find a card on top of the book with a simple "Merry Christmas!" written neatly inside it.

...the card wouldn't have been his first choice, but needless to say, there were just lots of panda-related things on-hand. But pandas are pretty cute, so hopefully she won't mind it!]

[So, Kurt didn't really know his assigned person; he was only able to gather that she was an older woman.

So he got her what he thought any mom would want: a pair of fuzzy - and comfy! - pink slippers. And attached was a small card with wishes of a blessed Christmas. He does sign it.]

[For Marco, there's a colorful, Christmasy tin full of cookies that Shinji baked and decorated himself. They're not shaped like Christmas cookies typically are, though. Instead, they're shaped like birds! The cookies are colorful and there's more than enough to share. While Shinji likes to downplay his cooking abilities, the cookies should taste great. It'd be hard to eat just one!

There's a note attached that says, "Merry Christmas! I hope you and your brothers enjoy these." The handwriting is careful and neat, but there's no name to be found.]

[ Cookies! Lots of them! Red's pretty excited right now, although a little amused that he'd both give and receive the delicious baked goods. These looked better than his, though, and after one bite he decided that the flavor was better too. ]

Doesn't say anythin' about who made 'em. If I could figure out who, maybe they'd share this recipe?

[ Now he's nibbling on a cookie - better make them last, they're gifts - and looking around the room. Who could it be? ]
