What: Vivi's birthday party

Summary: It's Vivi's birthday, and Nami arranged a little surprise gathering for her friend.
Rating: probably not above PG-13 for language and possible hot spring ~hijinx~.

[Nami's suggestion that they spend the day up at the hot springs was one Vivi happily accepted, not suspecting that there was more in store than just a day with her friend. It's with surprised delight that she steps from the teleporter to find the place decorated, and throughout the day, many of her friends arriving to wish her a happy birthday.]

[The main hall has been decorated with balloons and streamers, and there's a large banner reading "Happy Birthday, Vivi!" hung from the front rafter. Off to the side is a large table stocked with all sorts of food (go nuts; whatever you can imagine, Sanji probably made) and of course an enormous and elaborately decorated birthday cake. The other side of the hall has some games set up: pin the tail on the donkey, twister, and a ping-pong table.]

[Outside, the privacy screen has been slid back to join the men's and women's sides of the springs, and it should go without saying that people will be expected to wear swimsuits into the water. The trees are hung with more streamers, with strings of lights and some decorative lanterns for after the sun begins to set. There's a smaller table of refreshments out here, too.]

[There's also plenty of alcohol on hand, though juice and soft drinks are available for those who don't want (or are too young) to drink. Later in the evening, there's a high possibility of a party game like Truth or Dare starting up. (Thread here!)]

[Vivi is currently peeling some mikan, absently humming as she works. The peels are dropped into a small bowl for use later, and the fruit separated and deposited into a large bowl, though quite a few of the sections make their way into Vivi's mouth, and even more into Carue's. Maybe part of it is due to Carue's presence, but somehow the idea of turning another year older here--another year spent away from Alabasta--doesn't bother her right now. Instead she feels a kind of subdued joy. Not just because it's her birthday. Today will be a good day; she can feel it.]

[That's a good feeling you have there, Vivi.

Nami makes her presence known by dropping a pile of towels onto the kitchen table, addressing her friend cheerfully.] Hope you've got no solid plans today. We're going out.

[Vivi gives a surprised giggle, eyeing the deposited towels. That severely limited the options, given the current temperature...]

To the hot springs? [She beams up at Nami. You are the best friend, okay.] That's a wonderful idea! I haven't been in a while. [Not since before winter hit, and having a warm soak amidst the cold weather sounds like just the ticket.]

Neither have I, so this is at least half a treat for me as it is for you. [Yes. Really. >.>] I've already asked Sanji-kun to bring up some sandwiches for later, so we can relax and not have to carry too much up there.

[Byyyy sandwiches she might mean a whole lot more than that, but Vivi doesn't have to know.]

[Vivi stands, covering the fruit and setting the bowl of peels aside.] It sounds like you've thought of everything.

[She crosses to the sink, rinsing the sweet stickiness off her hands and toweling them dry.] Do you mind if Carue comes? Should we invite Nojiko-san and Robin-san too?

Carue can come! And the others, definitely-- though they're not here right now. But Sanji-kun graciously offered to find them and extend an invitation. [Such an innocent look. She's asked Sanji to do no such thing, but hey. It's totally something she would do.] Your job for today is just to come with me and relax.

[Vivi nods, giving a good-natured laugh.] My job, you say? All right then; I'll do my best! [Carue quacks happily, glad he's being included.]

[Vivi taps her chin.] Do you think anyone else will be there? I should probably get my swimsuit, just in case... [As nice as a proper bath sounds, the hot springs being public to Luceti-at-large make it harder to guarantee privacy, so it's probably safest to go the more modest route.]

Well, best to be on the safe side, I guess. I mean, it is open to the public, and I can imagine steaming pools are a godsend on days like this. [She glances outside and shivers a little.] I'm kinda glad they have a teleporter up there.

[Vivi nods, heading in the direction of her room to get her swimsuit.] I doubt they'd get much use at all if they didn't. Especially in this weather.

[She pulls the suit from her dresser and drapes it over one shoulder, turning toward Carue.] You'll like it, Carue. It's not as big as the Ukkari Island hot springs resort we visited, but it's natural and very refreshing.

And hot. Don't forget the hot part. [So helpful.]

And hot. [Vivi giggles, heading back toward Nami, but still talking to Carue.] Oh, and there's a teleporter that takes us there, so it's not a long walk at all.

[Vivi grabs her coat and begins putting it on.] Are we forgetting anything, Nami-san?

Hmm, I don't think so. If we did, don't worry-- I'll organise a delivery service. [Her own coat is already tucked over one of the kitchen chairs, and now that Vivi's putting hers on Nami follows suit.] Is there anything else you want to bring?

Nothing I can think of.

[She slips into her winter shoes now, and glances over to Carue.] It's not a very long walk, but I think you should wear your poncho. It'll probably feel colder on the way back. [Vivi pulls the converted comforter down from its hook near the door and throws it over Carue's back, fastening a button at the neck to hold it in place.] There!

[She turns back to Nami with a grin.] I think we're all set!

Great! [She sweeps the pile of towels up into her arms, holding them comfortably as she heads for the door.] Let's go.

[Nodding, Vivi pulls open the door and holds it for Nami. Carue follows her, and then Vivi, closing the door behind her.]

[Outside, she pauses to stretch and get a lungful of chilly air. It's cold, but not frigid, and for now at least, the brisk temperature has an invigorating effect.]

I bet it'll look lovely up there today with all the snow. [And less traffic to mar the pristine whiteness.]

Mm. I've always loved the hot springs here. One of Luceti's few redeeming features. [She grins widely, pausing by Vivi's side.] Hopefully the air around won't be too frigid, but I guess I can always try warming it up.

[Vivi looks over to Nami with muted respect. She may have gotten used to the amazing things Nami can do with her Climatact, but it doesn't stop being impressive, especially since Vivi doesn't understand that sort of thing at all.]

If anyone can do it, it's you, Nami-san.
