What: Vivi's birthday party
When: February 2nd, afternoon and into the evening
Where: the hot springs
Summary: It's Vivi's birthday, and Nami arranged a little surprise gathering for her friend.
Rating: probably not above PG-13 for language and possible hot spring ~hijinx~.

[Nami's suggestion that they spend the day up at the hot springs was one Vivi happily accepted, not suspecting that there was more in store than just a day with her friend. It's with surprised delight that she steps from the teleporter to find the place decorated, and throughout the day, many of her friends arriving to wish her a happy birthday.]

[The main hall has been decorated with balloons and streamers, and there's a large banner reading "Happy Birthday, Vivi!" hung from the front rafter. Off to the side is a large table stocked with all sorts of food (go nuts; whatever you can imagine, Sanji probably made) and of course an enormous and elaborately decorated birthday cake. The other side of the hall has some games set up: pin the tail on the donkey, twister, and a ping-pong table.]

[Outside, the privacy screen has been slid back to join the men's and women's sides of the springs, and it should go without saying that people will be expected to wear swimsuits into the water. The trees are hung with more streamers, with strings of lights and some decorative lanterns for after the sun begins to set. There's a smaller table of refreshments out here, too.]

[There's also plenty of alcohol on hand, though juice and soft drinks are available for those who don't want (or are too young) to drink. Later in the evening, there's a high possibility of a party game like Truth or Dare starting up. (Thread here!)]

That sounds like a neat idea, Sanji! I know she'll love it. And maybe I can learn some things from it, too. I really like this idea - you should write it down so you don't forget!

Me, forget? [Silly Aang. Sanji taps the side of his skull] Oi, don't worry, it's all up in here.

And I didn't know you were interesting in cooking.

Oh good! You must have a great memory, then.

A little bit! At our house, Katara usually cooks... w-when she's around. [He says a bit hesitantly since this is during the period she was stuck as her AU self.] And everyone helps with either cooking or cleaning! A lot of the time I help with the vegetable part. And Ikki helps me to try to make dishes I remember from my people. The more I know, the better!

[His eyebrows knit a little at the mention of Katara, but his attention shifts forward]

Your people...? You mean the airbenders?

Yeah! They were the air nomads and they were airbenders. It's because of their teachings that I don't eat meat. They're all gone now - except for the airbenders who'll be born in the future, but between me and Ikki we try our best to remember the recipes for their dishes.

[Sokka or Katara probably told him as much, but ouch, Sanji's mouth pulls around his cigarette. That's a hard thing to hear; that their conversation is centered around food only sharpens the sympathy]

... If you two ever need me to help with something, just say the word. I don't know anything about Air Nomad cuisine, but I might be able to replicate some of their techniques.

[He gives a quiet nod and a soft smile.]

Thanks a lot, Sanji. I'll see how much me and Ikki can do by ourselves first. And if we need help... I'll call on you, as long as it's not too much trouble.

If it were any shitty trouble, I wouldn't have offered. [he gives him a grin] Not a problem.

That's great then, Sanji. [He only winces a little at the language.] I'll let you know if we ever need a cooking sifu.
