I've heard of it. Seen a few people in its thrall. Never experienced it, though. [She actually smiles a bit. Good to see she might have some advantage here. Hopefully.]

Most magic doesn't work on me. Spells pass right through.

[And of course someone who has been in Luceti for a long time knows just how well natural immunities to things tend to work here. He shouldn't have been able to get an illness and die from it, yet he has now twice.]

Have you been here long enough for an experiment to take place? Those use something similar, except it is Malnosso technology trying to emulate what comes naturally to the cultists and occurs in this world.

[Because if she can be affected by an experiment, a Shifter will definitely be able to affect her. And Leonhardt wouldn't want someone to be overconfident and die for it.]

Ah... well I'm not really a fighter. I'm a good decoy though. I'm pretty good at being stealthy if I have to be though! [This is said with a laugh and a little bashfulness. It's come in handy in a couple of other instances, and she's been keeping up on practicing her hiding, so... hopefully it won't be a bad thing here.]
herotypical: (✝ great great great grey water thoughts)

"I assure you that I have bloody death hidden away on my very person, Derek. Just waiting for an excuse to bear arms."
herotypical: [ action ; arms ; neutral ] (✝ of losing all capacity)

[ she once again sizes up her conversational partner. hmm. ]

Work, mostly. I'm not sure you'd believe me if I told you.
deathsdoctor: (Neutral | contemplative)

"If you could, it would be greatly appreciated." Law's going to abandon his coffee until he can go later to find a microwave to heat it up. "Very recent events have just proved to me that at this time... we're at the point of knowing enough to make decisions that could prove very costly in the long run to a lot of people, but not enough to know or understand the consequences of our actions. Integration might be a ways off still, but I'm sure you'll agree that now some guidance wouldn't be amiss."

There's another thoughtful pause as he lets that sink in.

"There's another person to keep in mind if you can pull those strings. I would understand if the Organization doesn't want to send Miss Carol in alone - it's us, after all. However there's a member of the MSF who is extremely well respected in our enclosure - Specialist Davis. I haven't met a single resident who has had a bad thing to say about him. I would highly recommend him."
covermyback: (grrr)

[Another nod in response.]

This would be my first draft in Luceti, yes. I have only been here a few months. My first experiment was the one where the village suddenly became different locations, if that gives you a timeframe.
herotypical: [ snark ; happy ; neutral ] (✝ i think never is enough)

...Oo -- my very own pint-sized ninja. How are you at the fifty yard dash?

[ smooooth. ask the girl how good she is at running away, summers. ]
reminded: (s'all cool)

[He'll try not to be too amused at Diamond's form of address for her.]

Only just; we spoke the day the draft was announced. She expressed interest in attending school.
implanta: (joy joy~)

...it's better than nothing. Thank you very much. I'll have to repay this when we return. Dessert is the best part of a meal anyway.

[If she could make dessert into every meal, she likely would. There's a pause to make sure that others are too busy to pay her any mind, and eats the cookie quickly, though making sure to savour the taste. It's pretty good!]

That was very delicious. I'll definitely have to do something now in return!
teardropshaman: (/metal gear surprise)

[personal profile] teardropshaman 2013-04-03 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[WOAH backing up from sudden finger in her face!] I-I can say that because I've tried to run from them before! Even after a few hours more came and overwhelmed me!
reminded: (I think I'm beginning to see...)

Interesting. So there is a fundamental difference between your magic and filial magic. Have you been able to discern exactly what that is? For instance, I know that magic in Auldrant is tied to the concept of fonons, which seems to be a concept largely unique to that world.

[With all these questions, he should probably just attend magic class already.]
windofgod: (no mail in the mailbox)

[personal profile] windofgod 2013-04-03 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Right... a-anyway, he's kind of a jerk and you don't SEEM like a jerk, so I guess it's better this way! [Nope, sure doesn't miss anyone from home! Which is a blatant lie. She'll be trying to laugh that one off.]
yourhatred: (hrm)

The moment Adele looked into the ninja's eyes, she was drawn into his illusion. The Sharingan worked quickly that way.

The two of them suddenly stood alone in a darkened expanse, nothing above or below them. Despite this, it felt solid and stable. Here, both of Itachi's eyes were normal and dark but focused on her all the same. He wore clothes suited to her world - comfortable, everyday work clothes.

"This is a place within your mind," he began calmly. "Any amount of time we spend here will be a mere second on the outside. Let me put you a little more at ease."

The darkness brightened, the area becoming a wide open field that spread out for miles around them.

"That rather answers the question, though. If they are here for those reasons, they'll withstand poor conditions as well, so that others need not."

Such nobility. Definitely not his cup of tea.
complicatedliar: (such a war you cannot imagine)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-04-04 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Loki laughs. He's won.]

I'd gotten the impression that the ah... X-men... were no strangers to combat. This will be no different. Fight as you are suited to do. If anyone tries to drag you into conventional and unimaginative battle, they are a fool.
greenjacketed: (♖ cat and dog)

"It don't exist, where I'm from. Though many pretend it does. Here was the first I'd seen of it."

"You're lucky," Gretel replied. "Witches... They're hell. Kidnapping kids, enchanting men and women. Never ends well. The lucky victims? Are the ones that die fast."
yourfononsarewhack: (adjusting glasses)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-04-04 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
My, then what could you be seeking? There's certainly very little to find up there.
yourfononsarewhack: (assessment)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-04-04 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, force of habit. I am at the least a foremost military authority.

But yes, a spar should be amenable. It's about time I exercised these old bones.
yourfononsarewhack: (secretive and kinda pissy)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-04-04 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Because, quite simply, it seems to be a battle purely for the purpose of survival. The Third Party plans to eradicate all life in this planet, correct? As long as we're here, we are part of this war, even when we're kept under the blissful comfort of that barrier. We can't let that lull us into a false sense of security. Everyone here has to be ready to fight to protect their own existence.
yourfononsarewhack: (calm remark)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-04-04 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
That's true. There can be value in trying to from reliable theories, but nothing is truly conclusive until one sees proof for one's self.

Are you experienced in combat?
wise_maiden: (through so many splintered trees)

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2013-04-04 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
You'd hear a lot more if you poked your head into magic discussions more often. [A wry look.] But yes, that is correct. My world relies on mana for its source, and the magic is tied into that. There's a theory that the healing artes are based on another force, although we haven't quite gotten the answer as to what that is yet. Only half-written theories, lost long ago.

What do you think?

Twenty-four participants, only one winner, and she was number nineteen. Souji's hand pauses mid-motion over his sword as Clove reveals her death, the shock of realizing that the girl in front of him would never be able to return home. It was a truth too often played out here, and it made Souji sad.

He lowers his hand, resting the powder ball lightly on his blade and looks up at her. "I'm sorry, it must have been very difficult to lose such an important match."
