This post covers the first day, before the attack. Remember, characters here are not expecting an attack and are under the impression they will be going to Region 1 to fight. During this day, draftees will be restricted to T6 and T7 and not permitted access to other areas.

Colonel, eh? I've just had to work with a few military-types out in the field. No biggie. [Except when they were on the opposite sides of a battle.]

Cliff Fittir. No title. [A nod. He offered a hand, out of politeness. Titles still had some significance, after all.]

[She shakes her head, trying to clear out all those conflicting thoughts.]

Awww, thanks, Colonel! [It makes her feel all warm and happy when he's sincere like this, even as she giggles and strikes a cute pose.]

Anyway, are you going to be doing anything special during the battle?

Yeah, he can get kinda scary when he's impatient! But I'll still keep an eye out for you, Professor!

Possibly! Admittedly its a subject that has not received much study.

Bil seemed to consider this. He knew a lot of things, after all. But on the subject of Luceti, he was aware of most things that went on.

"That's a tricky question, Mr. Law. It suggests you might know something I don't and are more interested in that absence of knowledge than actually giving it."

"A bonus. I wasn't aware you'd be here until after I'd made the journey."

"As far as I can tell, nothing. You are on the offense, reclaiming enemy territory."

I suppose in that sense, you are quite right. The fresh air is rather nice, don't you think?

"For the most part, yes."

He smiles a little, squeezing her fingers gently, "And you know I'll ask anyway. We are who we are."

He'll give her a gentle kiss on the forehead; it comes easy, despite the confusion of not knowing exactly who she is to him.

As he asked, she did, allowing her eyes to slip closed and her mind to wander to the simple stone building that held so many fond memories for her as a child. It wasn't a large or particularly ornate structure, weathered from wind and rain and time, nestled in a messy thicket of bushes and ivy that needed tending. A gravel drive to a wooden overhang for cars, a cobblestone path down through a treeline to the crash of the ocean- every detail she could put into place, she did.

That could be one way to look at it. But... does it bother you, that he didn't ask any of the other names on that list?

[He'd volunteer if that's what it takes to figure out what kept him, but that's a thing best discussed with someone who isn't Bil. Shikamaru grumbles a bit and puts his hands in his pockets.]

I'd ask you how you know, having been away for so long. Those guys I overheard long ago wouldn't have called you dangerous then if you weren't one to keep up with things, in spite of something like that.

[She nods firmly.] We'll be a great team, Buffy.

"Well, here's the thing and I'll be blunt - I might. I might not. Depends on what you might be interested in, if anything. Will it possibly be informative for me? Sure. I believe we touched on my ignorance to your reach of influence... can't say I have a good idea to how far your knowledge stretches to things as well."

That is the truth of it.

"So the floor's open if you want it. It's fair - we poke questions at you every time we meet."

[Sounds logical enough to us...]

That's a good point...well, either way, it can't really hurt to try requesting for them and see what happens. [It's not like we had anything else at home that would be more beneficial to request for otherwise. (Besides, he's curious to see how this requesting thing works anyway in the event he ever did have to do this again and had something he actually really needed from the apartment while he was away on these drafts...)]

[It's not that she's going to start worrying about her fellow Lucetians, not in the way other people would. But she doesn't want to get backed into a corner and have her survival depend on someone who's previously injured.

So, she'll show a bit of concern.]

It's a pretty boring room, isn't it? [But she's half smiling, nearly chuckling.]

I went to an academy to learn to fight. Not the same thing, but... It's nice when I hear other people learned that sort of thing, too.

When did you start training? What age?

[shenevermisses]

"I went in knowing I was probably going to die," Clove replies, shrugging her shoulders. Still, at least he was apologizing for the loss, not for her death. There was nothing to be sorry about there; those were the rules of the Hunger Games.

After a moment of thought, she offers, "I had good competition."

Well...just like how there are different flavors when it comes to trainers, there are different flavors when it comes to some Pokemon Connoisseurs, too. Some choose not to taste Pokemon through battles, while others do, either by simply observing or taking part in it themselves.

I'm personally more of the latter, as I like to get a sense of a Pokemon's skills in battle and how well they work with their trainers for myself than just taking their word for it. But...fighting against an enemy that doesn't use Pokemon, battles where people could seriously get hurt or worse...I can't say that sits right with me. [We love Pokemon battles but using Pokemon to try to seriously injure or kill these "enemies" they'll have to fight soon feels like crossing a line that shouldn't be crossed.]

[She ignores the pain for a moment to scowl.]

"Altitude sickness, it's gotta be. Of all the stupid, humili-"

[She stops ranting and clutches her stomach, then glances sheepishly at Raine]

"... I'm just going to limp over to the doctors."

"Uh, yeah. Yeah, lying down sounds good."

[There's pride and then there's willpower, and she's out of the latter.]

"No, no, you don't have to-"

[She stumbles and only barely manages to right herself before she falls.]

"...uh... okay. Fine. Thanks."
